  1. -thanks Nate for the news -coaches and staff, GREAT work -we may have had the size, but never the talent -will be good fun to watch these guys get great
  2. -he said against X we had 17 to 22 open looks and missed 6 to 7 layups -perhaps TL and KL are trying too hard as there is so much being expected of them on both ends, to be our best players on both ends -we were mismatched physically across the board against X -BE needed to defend with a great sense of purpose -Umass very athletic and has 3 redshirt sr's -BT showed better against X -WR not an A game or effort against X -KL A effort -TL close to an A effort -TL needed to be more of a physical presence -selective jc player could come to SLU but academically in most cases not going to work (this was in response to the age of the roster and could we have gone jc to help, i did not get the impression there were any jc's on the way) -needs to be a balance between baptism by fire and gaining confidence in the shcedule -our key is to keep good defense and be more aggressive on offense -vs X TL and KL each took 1 bad shot, WR 2 bad shots -Mon 7pm Rick show with Rammer on 101.1 -as posted before asked for KL and TL to get some air time -their goofy question or whatever they called it, would you rather go through life only smelling onions or having Copacabana going through your head? so he says well, i don't like rap music and i don't like loud music - he did know this was a barry manilow song - it was funny and i can't remember the rest of his answer
  3. -those that like how rick talks probably liked it, those that don't..... -i'll post more later if someone wants, but he ended the show with hey guys, can you get some of my players on your show? i would like TL and KL to get credit in the community for being the good guys they are. if you want it to happen i promise to make it happen
  4. -some items i found of interest looking at full yr stats for both teams -X scores 72 and allows 64 -SLU scores 61 and allows 56 (wow) -X has +7.5 rebound margin -slu has +3.8 rebound margin -X forces 13.5 to's -Slu turns it over 12.4 -X turns it over 15.8 - slu forces 12.2 -x has shot 409 ft's to opponents 259 in 13 games -slu has shot 276 ft's to opponents 239 in 14 games -x avgs 21 made ft's per game -slu avgs 14 mad ft's per game -x shoots .371 from 3 on 213 attempts -slu shoots .302 from 3 on 232 attempts -we'll see what happens -come on Bills!!!! -no idea from where, but something tells me BT is a very positive player in this game, i hope so
  5. -there is part of me that cannot wait for 2011/12 as the current frosh will be in their senior season and we hopefully will be done talking about UB and his recruiting or lack thereof -and i admit i still comment on the topic, sort of like the smoker telling the other smoker to quit smoking i guess -i guess we are drawn into the discussion as it is like the wreck on the side of the road, you don't want to look but you do, even if ever so quickly
  6. -only one example and everyone goes about it their own way... -last week or 2 weeks ago when grawer, earl and ryan robertson were on 101.1 ryan was asked why he chose ku -he said he picked ku as he felt loyalty to r williams as he was the first coach to recruit him -i have also heard rick say to the fans to let the staff know about players early so we can be first on them -i agree we are so far ahead of where we have been recruiting wise -also agree we have to know what is in our own back yard -but at this point in rick i trust, certainly when it comes to recruiting -also from that show grawer talked how the recruiting rules have changed since the bonner days as they were at every practice and every game and they could be just being down the street but now you have the limited number of visits/viewings etc which impacts a hometown school's advantage on local talent (another case of the man keeping us down)
  7. "Whether or not SLU ultimately qualifies for postseason play when the dust settles on the A-10 season, Tommie Liddell will end his SLU career as a winner and one of the finest in recent memory to don a Billikens uniform. “Hopefully, they will say that I was a great player who helped the SLU program a lot and gave it a boost in terms of recruiting in the St. Louis area. I would like it if people think that I had a positive impact on the team and the program,” said Liddell. Make no mistake… we will." -good read -you bet Tommie, thanks ALOT
  8. -with the number of fans sitting in the end zones - which to me equalled walk up - at half time i was thinking "there is a bunch that were interested that we will have to work harder to get back as we lose this game" but then we came back and won so hopefully those fans will be back and bring more -quick look at the schedule and we have 2 more home games that conflict with Blues home games, 1/17 we play GW, Blues vs Chi and 2/21 we play UD, Blues vs Nash, not sure if scottrade is dark the other nights, so let's entertain some new b club members!!!!
  9. -like all slu players we hoped for more but there were many, many slu teams since his leaving we would have taken chris heinrich on in a minute
  10. -Pistol carry the ball on Thursday for thsoe of us not at the game and bring us a winner!!!
  11. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/B/BKC...EMPLATE=DEFAULT -basically UofI is delaying either a remodel of the 46 yr old Assembly Hall or the buidling of a new arena due to the economy (thus the "either option") -from the article - The university's Division of Intercollegiate Athletics had planned to use privately raised money for the project, much like it financed the recently completed $121 million facelift just across the street at Memorial Stadium. The university never has released cost estimates for the Assembly Hall project, but either option would cost more than the work at Memorial Stadium, Brown said. -i thought a few yrs ago hugh hefner offered a bunch of money to build them an arena and they turned it down? -current capacity is 16,6xx so at $121 a similar cost per seat to Chaifetz at $80 -who knows if the bldgs would/will be comparable as far as facilities as they have the football training stuff in place, i am guessing -glad we put a shovel in the ground when we did!!!!!! -THANKS AGAIN DR CHAIFETZ
  12. -thank you kshoe, i should have been more aware of what the heck his rating is trying to do -still not sure how we went down from sunday to today though
  13. -with the big difference in the number of games played i look at scoring avgs -i believe freshman became eligible again in 1973 (they had been eligible until about 1950 or so i think)
  14. -this it is part of the game experience and the ath dept needs to find a way to fix it -or turn off the darn thing and only keep track of fouls, but i cannot see how this one could be so hard to correct, but obvioulsy it is -and turning it off would send a real bad message to your fans...so fix it -are the same issues in play at women's games??? -we spend millions on the video/score boards and can't get them to work -at least the free programs are a nice touch!!!!
  15. -since we will have nothing more on this from stlhi i will ask the board, i do not recall a post in any thread that was overly harsh or unfair to cotto considering the circumstances, am i missing/forgetting something? -for roundtree to say he was not happy with the style of play has me completely astounded, as roy said, they have not changed a thing -that is like going to a gas station and expecting a gourmet meal -for him to not talk to the coach is not a good sign for when he is going to try to play somewhere else, although there will always be the coach that will overlook that and say "it won't happen here" or "i can contral that" , but i would think it cuts down on potential suitors -i guess i missed that hobbs left mosu
  16. -sorry if this is somewhere else -to preface, i understand what our nonconf schedule was and what our results were, but given that.... -i am a bit surprised that in the last 2 -3 days our ranking in kenpom has fallen about 15 places, even after we beat A&T and BC beat UNC -i guess our losses to other teams or other wins are outweighing what i thought would help us -i also think our nonconf schedule rank went lower after BC beat UNC, by only a couple of places -not sure what is happening here, so i guess we'll see what happens after we beat X (knepom current rank of 27)
  17. -i like to see SLU, i don't care if it is on sweatpants with a nice pink bottom or green with a nicely filled out sweater, just have SLU -but i have called out folks in my group wearing other college team gear -as long as it is SLU, i am fine with it -also, my p-d had a full color picture of our game on the cover of the sports section
  18. -also end of first half another closing out the clock no shot possession........do we practice these situations???
  19. -i am not buying the lack of additional baskets for shooting woes, free throw or field goal -first, there are only 2 baskets that are the baskets used in games, so they are the only ones with the similar background found on game night -second, we now have what seems to be beautiful practice gym under the same roof as our game floor and this facility has baskets, hell run in there for shooting drills if need be -i thought last night at points we had tired players on the floor as it was a physical game and A&T made our guys try to get through many screens (moving or set) so our lack of depth continues to haunt -if we talk ft shooting, it is a routine with solid mechanics that has one become a good "maker" as opposed to a "shooter"
  20. -there is a Schlafly kiosk at Chaifetz, behind 102 I think
  21. -please understand i love willie and believe barring anything injury or other wise he will do things we have not seen maybe ever in a slu uniform, however your view and mine on his rebounding at this stage are not in synch
  22. -can someone find the # of games ian played? -i tried with no success on slu's webstie -the blocked shot record has me wondering and i am wondering the # of games to get to blocks per game -fwiw, willie is avgering 1 block per game at this point
  23. -i am not that worried with timing the contests, but i am worried about the perception of the program being anything but first class, so we just built an $80mil bldg and we are to believe that the scoreboards can't do a 30 second or however long countdown clock for a contest without impacting the officail game time?!?!? give me a break -if this is the case, it then explains the quality of the blue victory light
  24. -state money went into facilities - football pressbox/suites and field renovation (self purported best ag school but they could never figure out how to grow grass on the football field, i never understood that) and paige sports arena
