  1. Kevin wasn't 6'5 and didn't play like this kid. I think Cassity is the most relevant recent Billiken that compares to the limited glimpse of the kid. And I was not trying to say that is a negative. You guys don't need to get your panties in a wad because of a comparison. It's what we do.
  2. It looked like confidence from my seat. Timid going to the hole, won't take the shot, pulled back 95% of the time on the break. I liked Cassity and didn't call for his benching like most others, but I wouldn't call it unselfishness. I think he was scared to do what needed to be done. I don't think Mike is that much better of a player last year. But Mike was capable of getting the job done when Kyle was not, despite being taller and having a better understanding of the system.
  3. Looks like a good pickup. Not sure of the need he is filling on this team, but I'm good with it. He seems to be comfortable coming off a pick for shot. He seems to be able to handle the ball just fine. He is finishing in traffic, HE CAN DUNK! And he seems to have a pretty nice stroke (but no 3 point highlights). I'm thinking more Kyle Cassity than Dustin McGuire. Let's just hope this kid has more confidence than Kyle did.
  4. This sucks. We will not be the same team or as good without Kwamain. How can anybody argue otherwise?! Sure we're deep, but losing your best player is going to cause repercussions. The sky isn't falling, but my expectations are much lower now...meaning a W against Kansas went from doable to doubtful in my book.
  5. Really sucks that coach has to miss this. Love him or hate him, the guy deserves all the credit for getting us to this point. A number 9 ranking? Number 11 ranking? Yeah, I know all this is meaningless until we hit the court...but perception is reality and this puts us on the radar from day 1. I wish I could send the guy a get well or congrats note.....I feel bad for him.
  6. Wow....Roy being critical of May...never thought I'd see the day. Really though, I think we need to tone it down a little. We are not even giving our interim head coach a chance. And if all of us already have him in the gutter, what type of message is that sending to recruits, fans and even the players? I think we just need to relax and let the thing play out. Let's support Crews and Whitesell until they give us a reason not to. Who knows, maybe a disaster and some time with Majerus was what Crews needed to lead a team to the promised land. I'm not a rah rah guy, but given all the turmoil in the program, I'm going to try and stay positive and support what we have.
  7. With that being said, I also realize this is our culture now. People are no longer using context, but focusing on induvidual words and blasting people for them. Perhaps my frustration with that has flowed over to this message board. Even SShoe's post focuses on a word I used, when the context of the overall post is quite obvious.
  8. NYB illustrates one of the posts I was referring to. Perhaps I used the wrong word there in defend. But, I think you know what I meant and the point still stands. I don't think anybody should have to defend themselves for making a comment like the one NYB made on OUR message board. This is a sports board...all comments are assumed to be in the context of sport. Some posts insinuate that people think NYB is hoping this kid fails in life and all things in his future. It's a bit ridiculous.
  9. How does X losing a player turn into a debate about who wants the conference to be strong? I'll save you some time....there is not a single Billiken fan that wants the A-10 to suck. Anybody who spends as much time on this board as we do, knows full well how the system works and that we are constantly fighting for prestige. That should have nothing to do with making comments about a kid getting kicked out of school for probably doing something illegal. Maybe you guys had a bad day yesterday and needed to vent, but give me a break. We don't have a rival. X is the closest thing we have to a rival. Taking just a hint of joy when your rival loses a top player is pretty normal. Are the people at UD joining hands and praying for mr. Wells future?? Does Missouri sing kumbaya when somebody at Kansas has a problem? I'm sure all the Blue Devils are lining up to give condolenses for UNC's issues with the NCAA lately. Give me a break here, fellas. Let's try to at least support our own fans/teams before defending a thug from our "rival".
  10. This sucks. While not a marquee team, it is a team with name recognition in a highly recognizable conference. I cannot fathom that the cost of a hotel would lead to cancelling this. My impression is that the athletic department is involved in scheduling and are aware of budget constraints. I know Biondi can be a tight ass, but I don't think even he can stoop that low. This is extremely puzzling. My hope is that Duke possibly re-thought Majerus' request for a rematch.
  11. Blah, blah, blah. We've heard this before. Ask LoRo how his NBA talent faired against the Billikens. Kansas can suck my balls.
  12. Stupid rule. I understand that summer classes are accelerated, but why should the NCAA discriminate against these students? This should be the decision of the school and student. Every student is unique...unique background, learning styles and environmental factors. If they are accepted, they are accepted...end of story. If SLU does not think it is appropriate to attend summer school...based on the acedemic standards and rules put in place by the university for ALL students...then that is acceptable.
  13. Has ACE ever been wrong about it though? I admit that I always don't agree when he calls people out...but over time, he's been proven right every time i can remember.
  14. The thing Barnett has going for him is his height. At 6'5, he towers over any of the guys we have playing the 1 or 2. It also gives him the ability to play a little of the 3. After Dwayne, we really don't have a 3 until Drew comes along. If Jake can get his shot back and rebound like he did in China, I see him getting his fair share of minutes. Two big "if's" though...
  15. Yes, but they will never experience the Del Taco drive through at 2am....
  16. There was also the time Jeffers made 2 plays on Sportscenter top 10. I'm thinking that might have been against Louisville though.
  17. I'd love to get DB on the staff. Watching this clip, I forgot how he came on pretty strong as a senior and had quite a stroke. I still remember the dunk around the 5:10 mark. Does anybody know what Femi is going to do? He played the role of a coach the past 2 years, so hopefully he can remain with the program somehow (if he is looking to pursue a coaching career).
  18. Awesome! Here's hoping for a Xavier, Dayton, Butler pod...
  19. Wow, my little comment created quite a stir. Here's the deal... Some of us want to spend our entertainment dollar on the information scout provides. Others don't. Ben offers a service that is not found elsewhere. He does it for a living. I think he should get some income for his efforts. Remember, this is America. For the time being, at least, people still get paid for working hard. If you provide something that others don't, you are in greater demand and make more money (in general). Ben is actively finding out about the Billikens while the rest of us sit at our desk jobs surfing the net. While anybody would take issue with this is beyond me. I've read this entire thread and the vibe I'm getting is that people think the information should be free. All I really see is sour grapes. I pay because I want the information....you don't pay but still want the information. It doesn't work that way. 15 years ago, you had to live in stl and be connected to the program to find these things out...or hope you have a good local newspaper. well, times have changed and you get a ton of stuff for free online. Other places you still have to pay. I think we should all be ok with that.
  20. LOL....if you guys want information, buck up like the rest of us.
  21. LOL...the grammar correction...always a sign of a post with substance. I think that's the first one I've had in my decade posting here. If you can point to one article where Father Biondi has articulated anything that makes you think he understands college athletics, I will take this back. I'm not really going out on a limb here. I don't think there are a lot of us who think the good father is the right person to move SLU athletics to the next tier. I've said it once and I'l say it again....FB has done a lot for SLU and the surrounding area. I don't think he has done a lot for our athletics programs...especially not when compared to his peers.
  22. Reading these articles always remind me of how out of touch Biondi is. He has no visibility whatsover when it comes to athletics. They interviewed X's president. And the article posted yesterday about FSU was written by there president. I couldn't imagine Biondi articulating the points the way these guys do.
  23. Yeah, if we can't have Creighton, then I'd have to be selfish and advocate for Belmont. VCU doesn't do much for me, but it probably strengthens the conference. If Butler and VCU can retain there coaches for a few more years, I may sing a different tune.
  24. I make a comment about hoping they have better luck and your response is Booker played well at Iowa St? Those guys were billed as the second coming out of HS (at least in STL). Once we signed Femi, a lot of people claimed we got the worst of the three (most likely because he was a Soderberg recruit and all things Soderberg were/are evil). Fast forward and you have one guy in jail (I think...or at least legal problems), another barely contributing at Iowa State after the drama that occured at SIU, and third who is a very well respected and highly intelligent member of the staff/team who has a bright future. I'm sorry, but if this is your expectation for the kids you are pimping out, it is no wonder you get so much sh!t on here. As somebody in a position of influence, I think you need to expect more of these guys.
  25. I hope they have better luck than the last trio we discussed on here....John, Booker and Roundtree. We got the best end of that deal, but the least heralded.
