On the flip side, we don't have CG who soaked up some of the fouls DJ and/or French may have committed if CG wasn't around.

This. My strategy as an opposing coach would be to go as hard as possible at French to start the game and get him on the bench with 2 fouls. I like Foreman, but he isn't the presence French or Gordon is on either side of the ball. I forsee French being told to reduce the shot blocking attempts to keep from fouling, but that will minimize his presence and overall effectiveness. Fouls will be a major problem the rest of the season, IMO.

  2. I don't think this is over yet, but that he will ultimately be gone after a valiant effort. If (and a BIG if) the things we have been reading are true, there has been a lot of damage done that needs to be repaired to stand a chance. I'm wondering if his buddies tweet about needing to "GROW" was more aimed at Gordon, telling him to GROW up. Kind of a stretch, but trying to start the day off on a good note.

He coud have got a lot more minutes, but it was apparent that he was being brought in interchangbly for French to get rest. Point is that Hankton was playing in places he shouldn't be, and has barely been used all year even at his strong suit on a wing. Why else would they force him into big positions unless they are trying to get him ready to take that role behind Foreman, being the new tallest guy off the bench.

Coach has repeatedly stated "we will need [insert name here]'s help come conference play". I took Hankton's appearance to give him some PT against a weak opponent and to just try and change things up. Personally, I was more concerned with the lack of starting. Some people could take that an an insult and based SOLEY on MBM's claim that Gordon can be immature, got me thinking there could be a problem.

Still hoping this is just some sort of joke/attention seeking moment...

  4. I don't think it is fair to dump all this on Isabell. I saw a lot of crappy play last night by most of the team. I feel like Isabell has had more good passes than Goodwin this year, but admittedly not doing a great job at the point. The offense just sucks, period. It's like I'm watching the same crap I have been watching for 20 years. Great on defense, suck on offense....but we have exponentially more talent. I absolutely place some of the blame on the coach....but it is on all the players as well....plenty of open shots missed. They can't seem to execute anything. And free throws??? We hit them at a decent clip and we win the game.

Whatever is going on needs to stop. There is a lot of mind games going on out there when a guy like Goodwin can't hit the broad side of the barn from the free throw line.We have world class defense. Top notch talent. Can't make a bucket even if we aren't being guarded.

I still feel this is going to come together, but it sure is frustrating right now.

  5. This teams issue is the ability for Goodwin and Isabell to play together, like many have said. My take is that Goodwin has a harder time passing to Isabell than the other way around. If all these guys would just play within the offense, everybody would get their points. I think Goodwin is trying too hard to get points while Isabell isn't being put in a position to score . I actually think Isabell is TRYING to get the offense going but just doesn't know how to right now. He has had some really nice passes that I haven't seen anybody else do (i.e. that sweet pass to Foreman for the flush). I don't think the team has really embraced Isabell (just my opinion from chemistry on the court) and what he can do.

Run the offense, look for the open man, take a shot, stop all the 1 on 1/stagnation and we'll be a tough team to beat.

"SLUCare, the university’s academic medical practice, saw both a “sudden and significant” loss in revenue and a jump in expenses from implementing a new electronic health records system in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2018, according to Pestello. It ran a “significant deficit” during the first quarter of this fiscal year, a trend that was projected to continue as increases in expenses outpace revenue from patient care.

While there may be increased costs associated with a new system implementation that should not be the cause of this budget shortfall (who was in charge of implementation and what recourse do you have with the outside consultants that implemented the new system?).

The major problem here is how did the 'sudden and significant' loss in revenue occur?  Did the SLUCare not bill their customers?  Did SLUCare miss the window on Medicare reimbursement?

Sudden and significant revenue losses just don't occur.  Perhaps the Board of Trustees need to ask some hard questions of Doctor P and company.

Hello Rome?  We have a problem......

Actually, this is the norm rather than the exception. Far be from me to sympathize with Freddy P, but implementing a new EHR is a costly endevour. The implementation costs alone are very significant, but you have the physicians with a reduced schedule (usually 50% reduction during go-live) for awhile that you hope can go back to 100% before too long. Much of this will depend on the age and tech saviness of staff. Then, you have training deficits for physicians, nurses, front/back office staff. There are probably issues with inbound and out bound referrals, how to work those referrals and ensuring patients are adequately scheduled. A big problem is just getting the physicians to document in a timely manner and making the notes ready for billing. The other integrations (i.e. imaging, pharmacy, lab) will slow down billing and operations if not fine tuned.

Now, should most of this have been projected in the budgets....YES. However, you never really know how all the physicians will react and what other factors will effect revenue. Health systems have gone bankrupt due to a botched EHR implementation.

AnyOne find the Isabel interview that was previewed on Slu’s mbb Instagram?

Did anybody get to watch the interview? I can't find it on the KSDK website, so a recap would be appreciated. We haven't gotten many quotes from Isabell since his commitment.

  8. Welcome Gibson! Gotta love those stats...and the name. Any thoughts on the differences between this guy and Ingvi? On paper they seem to bring a similiar skillset to the table. A tall 2 man with high shooting percentages. Based soley on YouTube (and a super small sample size), Gibson seems to bring a little more athleticism.

I really  need to praise the stream more than I did there.  I was really surprised by how well it was done.  Multiple camera angles, replays, a high quality picture, etc.. It was a professional production.  Hats off to the people who put it together.

Couldn't agree more. Very grateful to the AD for providing it and it was high quality. Well done.

Anybody got any thoughts on the players?

I echo Roy's comments on Thatch. I liked Jacob's a lot. Being out of town, I didn't know what to think of Gordon...he is a freaking stud. The core from last year are gonna kick ass.

Totally disagree. Hell yes he was cracking jokes. That’s the point. Last night was fun, light exactly the atmosphere you want. I believe this boards obsession with him is over the top.

Could you imagine an NBA announcer telling Lebron he isnt allowed to smile during the dunk contest? Telling Judge Wilt Chamberlain that he can't handle the scoring because he couldn't handle math in school? He waffled back and forth 4 times on how to pronounce Care'are's name. It is a PA job, not jokes with your friends.

You are entitled to your opinion but I really think he does a horrible job.

I’m sorry I just don’t get this hatred of Guy. I thought he did a damn good job. Had the right amount of irreverence.

Is this tongue in cheek? Yesterday was so embarrassing and I have never railed on the guy before. He is literally cracking jokes at the PLAYERS instead of hyping the crowd. He missed several names. He made the event about him instead of the guys. His whole tone is depressing. He may be mediocre announcing games when you just need to say a name (though he has about a 10% error rate), but yesterday was not something he should have been doing. I can honestly say that I have never heard a worse PA announcer at any sporting event than what I witnessed last night.

Id hope we could do better now that we should be winning

I do agree that better would be ideal, but I don't think we are at a point that we can land a CAG every year. I really hope I'm wrong. But with CAG and French starting, and Hankton in waiting, a grad transfer could be the ticket.

I was really liking the way the bigs were one per year on the roster - Foreman (senior), Santos (junior), French (sophomore), Gordon (freshman) - and in an ideal world, we'd have been able to cycle through with a new big man every year. And with guys like French and Gordon, you could take a chance on a guy with a high ceiling who might not be ready to play big minutes right away. But you're right, now we could stand to add at least one more developed big in 2019 and maybe another longer term guy.

Seems like a Rashed Anthony 2.0 may be able to fill the gap next year

  15. Disappointed to hear this. I was looking at Santos for defense in the post...offense was just gravy. As our tallest player, my biggest concern is who guards those long big men who can shoot over the 6'7 French in the post. I felt like French struggled a bit with them last year (and I love what French can do on defense).

I don't think this had anything to do with grades or sexual assault. I'm thinking it's more along the lines of he got caught smoking a joint or maybe got in a fight with a teammate. Then thought things were too broken to fix. Just message board speculation.

Sure hope Welmer can play a few minutes a game...
