  1. Sounds like CR's having a good game. True?
  2. I started this thread because he's an RM favorite and he needs to do a bit more than be so Gotdaman conservative! We can't afford a lame duck scorer. I think McCall or Jordair is a better alternative than KC.
  3. If Biondi turns down a statue of Rammer in front of Chaifetz, he's done. Out. And after Obama goes down in the '12 election he becomes SLU's Prez and we go on to 25 straight appearances in the NCAA and win at least 4 national titles. Say what you want about him, the Bam loves his hoops.
  4. In some regards KC will be a key to this team having the success we all expect this season. A four year guy who's certainly had his up and down moments here at SLU. No doubt he's consistently done a good job in running the offense and being careful with the ball. He's a heady guy who knows the value of playing good D. But for us to make that big leap forward he's got to do more this year. First he's an RM favorite and will log 20-25 mpg because he has the most experience of all our guards.. But he has to be a little more productive with the minutes he gets scoring wise. Like many others on here, I'm sure we'd like to see McCall and Jett leap frog him and reduce his minutes, but it's not gonna happen unless KC goes right in the toilet. We've seen what D's do when he's on the floor, ie leave him alone and double up on KM or clog the inside. What's perplexing about KC is that he's shown the ability to take a guy off the dribble and go in for a layup and at times can hit from the outside. He just doesn't do it enough. The point here being if RM's going to grant him that many minutes he's got to do something with them more than pass up open shots and playing timid.
  5. We could only give two scholies last year, so why's the size of the class an issue? RM couldn't afford to have another year of wholesale transfers. Both went to bigs. One of the bigs was on some of the Bigs radar. The other one is 6'11 and as we all know very few bigs right out of HS turn out to be impact players. I'm trusting in RM's talent evaluation skills that these were not just filler type scholies. The kind Brad did every year with the likes of Obi and Hixon. Maybe we don't get much from either of them this season, but let's not judge until their body of work is fully completed.
  6. NIce to get some noticeable ink. Now let's go out and just do it! And Detroit is in the mix? A threat to Butler? Hats off to their coach. But the problem is we can't afford too many mid major conferences getting multiple bids.
  7. There is absolutely no comparison to Brad and RM. From either a recruiting or x's and o's viewpoint, Brad can't carry RM's jock. Granted we're not landing the quality of players that Butler, X, and Zaga are getting. But that's because of their resumes. You win, you land better players who want to play for winners. Even though we're all expecting great things this year, there is still an underlying fear held by many of us that this team still does not possess the athleticism required to play at a high level. No doubt we've got more and better athletes than we've seen since the 2000 team, but still it falls short of what X, Temple, and others in the A-10 have on their rosters. This shortfall is most notable with our inside guys; RL, BC, CE, GG, and JM. Admit it, when WR decided to exit SLU, or vice versa, a lot of air leaked out of the Billikens' balloon. But these are the guys we have and now it's up to them to make up for their lack of athleticism with smarts and toughness. BC does this game in and game out. CE and RL not so much. JM and GG are question marks at this point and one that won't be answered any time soon. I left out CR because he is our most athletic big, but so far has demonstrated little aptitude for getting what it takes to play at a high level. So, can RM develop CE and RL into the types of bigs he had at Utah becomes the issue. And it's the key to our winning and making either the NCAA or the NIT. Realistically, I don't see us making the dance unless we pull a rabbit out of the hat in Atlantic City. Why? I think we're going to experience some bumps in the road in our non con schedule. Bumps that will hurt our resume. I think we're going to see this team develop like our 09-10 team. We'll have a decent A-10 season, but still not enough to garner a dance invite. I'm hoping for an NIT bid and then see this team make a nice run to Madison Square Garden. If that happens, it would be a successful season in my opinion, and a springboard for a very successful 12-13 season. Don't take this as a negative post, just an opinion of long time suffering Bills fan who's hoping to be proved dead wrong. Go Bills.
  8. This is such an ugly and sordid affair on so many levels one doesn't know where to start laying the blame. First, however, must be concern for the young boys, who are now adults. PSU should do everything in their power to try and bring some normalcy to their lives, if that is even possible. Joe Pa, to so many people, was the iconic college FB coach who seemed above the muck and mire of what college sports has become these days. He seemed to be a very moral and spiritual man who could be the poster boy for how to live a life of excellence. This now has all come tumbling down around him, because he plain didn't do the right or moral thing when informed of these despicable events. You don't pass the buck if you witness or receive information about a murder, a rape, a car theft, a mugging, any major felony; you simply call the cops with what you know or what you've heard. So why didn't he just do this? My guess is his first thought was how to protect the PSU football program and the University from a major scandal. This was a major breach of human decency on his part. His first thought should have been get this sicko off the streets and prevent any future crimes against innocent young boys. How this guy was allowed access to PSU facilities for years after the allegations is what's really bothersome and mystifying. What kind of people would want a suspected child molester within a thousand miles of them? Who would want to have lunch with him? Who would want to even see him? Amazing to think that in 13 years no one in authority at PSU had the cojones or the simple decency to have this resolved and investigated by the proper authoities.
  9. It's not RM's style to overstate a player's ability as he did with JB. Wonder when we're going to see JB fulfill those expectations.
  10. I'm thinking he should be honored with a black shoulder ribbon on the unis this season. He was the person most responsible for putting SLU hoops on the map, so that's the least we should do.
  11. They all scare me until we eliminate those 7-8 minute scoring droughts. I really thought JB and KM would be the answer to this problem. But we've seen it in both exhibition games. A team like TSU won't go away as easy as 2 NAIA teams.
  12. Hope it happens but don't you think Butler's happy w/ their Gonzaga type situation, ie dominating the Horizon and assuring themselves a dance invite every year? Like Zaga, they're basically an independent program that's able to get big out of conference games and increase their exposure from Nov to Dec, then come January they just beat up on their conf. brethren. Not so easy to do in the A-10.
  13. Better yet maybe now is the time to approach Mizzery about making SLU an annual rivalry to replace KU.
  14. Guess I read all the above despair the wrong way. Sorry about the above post. It appears we beat Carleton's little USA cousin.
  15. Obviously his excitement might be a little dampened after tonight.
  16. You're kidding? We lost to Carleton's little USA cousin by 11? Now is it time to be concerned?
  17. Just from reading the GDT and writeups, it seems we had two long stretches where we went scoreless. Those long lapses are what scares me. It would be nice if we could find someone, and I do think it will be KM, that will end those droughts. They are game killers.
  18. I'm going on record that we're beating Temple at home.
  19. 1) Were the last two games of the trip in Canada an aberration? Were they a sign of things to come? This has me stumped. I still don't think an NCAA quality team would have lost both games. Yes, there are excuses, still it was the way we lost them that is scary. I just hope we're not going to be the type of team that plays down to it's competition. We have some cupcakes on our schedule that we are counting as wins. If you've been a Bills fan for any length of time you know these types of games can cause serious emotional distress. I'm taking a wait and see if these games really meant anything. 2) Can our forwards actually compete against strong competition? Two come to mind, X and St. B's. I'm sure there are others. Still, I think this depends on CR, RL, and CE's development. We lost the most talented big we've had since Bonner when WR decided to go Spanish. If this team has a weakness it's on the inside. 3) Will DE regress this year? He seemed to have a subpar trip in Canada. After last year's performances, DE demonstrated good athleticism and BB smarts. He lacked muscle. He's packed on some muscle and he's too smart to lose his BB smarts. And why should he suddenly show up less athletic. It will be interesting to see what his role on this team turns out to be. A 3 or a small 4? 4) Will CE get over his most recent injury? Hopefully he's in top physical shape. I think CE is a very key player to the success of this team. If he can get back his 3 shot, he'll be a force. What's often overlooked with him is his court savvy. His major flaw is his seeming dislike for physical play, common amongst foreign players. If he can overcome this, which he appeared to be doing last year, he'll be fine. Don't discount him, he can be a/the difference maker for us. 5) Will JM or GG be even remotely decent this year? Hopefully, nothing comes up, ie injuries or doghouse things, that make it necessary for us to find out. 6) Will RL be better or worse for the team this year? See comments on CE. However, I don't think he's as critical a player as CE is. He's still learning the ropes. Hopefully, he does a WR and really comes on strong the second half of the season. 7) Can MM, JJ, and KM co-exist peacefully? KM's too much a leader and team oriented guy to let egos get in the way of winning. 8) Will KC be a solid contributor, or hold the team back this year? KC will be KC. He's a steadying influence that will only help not hinder. Besides, we don't need him to score a lot, just play good D and be careful w/ the ball. Those are his strengths. 9) Will JB contribute with less minutes than he had in the MAC? If there was one player that did disappoint in Canada, I guess it would be JB due to RM's hyping him as all conference material. Doesn't seem to be a guy who will hurt the team, and, in fact, may turn out to be a major positive player. 10) Can CR have a breakthrough year? Based on last year he seemed to regress. I'm going with if you did it once (at the end of his FR year), you can do it again. It's up to him now to do it. If he turns out to be a solid inside presence, the NCAA is a definite possibility since we need an athletic presence inside.
  20. This obligation probably falls more on RM's shoulders than anyone. Although, FR B should definitely be a main player with the Presidents of the remaining Beast BB only's if it comes to pass at all. Frankly, I'm surprised those guys have not held a meeting to discuss their futures w/o FB teams. I can't imagine they're gonna be too thrilled with the watered down BB schools the Beast is considering bringing in. But back to RM for a moment. He knows Lavin well and probaby some of those other coaches from his days at ESPN. One would hope he'd get them to endorse SLU as a member.
  21. I don't understand why the B12 doesn't take UL, UC, and WVU and get back to 12 teams. I don't think w/ 10 teams they get a conference playoff game, read extra $$. When Mizzery leaves and with TCU coming in they still need 3 schools to get to 12. And Uconn must be gnawing their arm off. They spent major $ to upgrade their FB program, and I'm sure they didn't do it to face the likes of UCF, Houston, etc. Admire the Beast trying to plug the leaks in the hull, but they are going to have the most disparate and f'd up conference in the history of College sports. Someone get a gun and put it out of it's misery. And screw ND and their FB program. They are just not relevant these days. And if they keep playing like they are they'll be lucky to get a MAC invite. One thing I'd start to worry about if I were the Beast's BB only schools is recruiting. How attractive is the league going to be to ESPN or other major networks with the loss of major BB powers like Pitt, Syr, WVU, and possibly UL and UC? Then if CT can find a way into the ACC, which they likely will soon enough, along with Rutgers, Beast BB is going to take a huge hit. Wouldn't they think that a power conference of BB only schools by adding X, Butler, Dayton, and hopefully, SLU would be a better sell?
  22. Without knowledge of what he did, you can't conclude whether X took the low road here.
  23. According to the article there's a good chance Temple gets in the Beast. I'm sure they won't accept being just a FB school, so that kind of hurts the A-10. I don't understand why these BCS conferences just don't get the whole deal done and go to the 4 power conferences eveyone thinks will happen eventually.
