  1. My biggest concern is the manner in which Collins handled this entire process. I have been a season ticket holder for many years, although I stayed away from most games this last year for personal reasons, but this is not a kneejerk reaction since I have watched this transfer portal process carefully. I am no longer going to spend the dollars for season tickets, parking, refreshments and a basic Billikens Club membership. While I am sorry that this will affect the team I have followed all these years, college basketball is no longer something that I want to support. This Board has a few posters who always speak positively about the no-sitout-transfer policy the NCAA adopted. Well, I hope they are all happy because this is what it has come to. There just aren't enough Goodwins, Frenchs and Perkins' to honor their commitments to their school and teammates. I hope Coach Ford is able to get a capable PG for next season so that Javonte can leave with a NCAA appearance on his resume.
  2. If three schools in 3 years doesn't scream headcase then I don't know what does. CAG 2nd act .
  3. While I'm not a big Pickett fan, if that happens then we will be like the Cardinals in the Broglio/Brock trade. We wsill get a year out of JP while Nezz sdits out a year before leaving Spumac for what he views as an upgrade. Declaring for the NBA draft eval process makes it clerer he has no grip on reality. What a disappointment he is, and will be, at his next stop. Is he using CAG's advisors?
  4. Like to attack the boards, plays bully ball and drives to the hoop. Sounds like a version of J Goodwin, although probably a step down from JG, but similar in style
  5. I think Yuri's biggest problem is one that an NBA evaluation isn't going to be able to fix. He isn't tall enough or quick enough to play in the League. I'm not saying he isn't reasonably quick, or fast, enough for a college player but not for the guards he would face in the NBA. He is clearly, in my mind, the best PG in recent Billiken history and could probably earn a paycheck in sub-NBA leagues but let's remember that one of the very best Guards, coming out of SLU in the last 20 years, Kevin Lisch, couldn't get a sniff out of a league that is even better today. I hope this action by Yuri helps him to become even better and it probably will, but it won't add 2-3 inches of height.
  6. I thought we had two this year, so now 3 next year. I would say Gibson could, and did, score at all three levels this year, a big improvement over his prior years as pretty much just a 3 pt gunner.
  7. Lots of questions on this and/or other threads about open scholarships. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think we have - as of this moment, 7 returning roster players : Yuri, Gibson, Terrence, Fred T (although not sure he is coming back), Traore, Francis O, and Javonte (hopefully). Add 3 committed newcomers. Placeholder for J Nezz (assuming we need to accept him back if he decides to do so. Not sure if we need to do this?). This leaves at least 2 open scholarships for the staff to go get. A decent size 4/5 spot player and a Combo PG/SG. Actually, the JN question brings up another point. When a player goes into the transfer portal do we need to hold their spot on the roster since they have not said they aren't coming back, just that they are looking at other options. I would hope that a player entering his name in the portal would relieve the school of any commitment to hold a spot for that player, but I'm not certain of that.
  8. Do you really think getting a degree has any attraction for Nezz? Does he strike you as a guy who wants to be a student? Do we even know his current SLU student status? Do any of us really know the entire SBU cheerleader story? Do we know that the impetus for this wasn't Ford's doing? Prediction: This is not going to turn out well for JN . He might become just the latest "star ability" basketball player to wind up looking back at a terrible decision to turn down an opportunity to play at home where his support system resides. (CB, CAG , JN?)
  9. I hope you are right. The most helpful thing in reaching that goal is the talent that is leaving some of the top teams in the A 10-like SBU and Richmond.
  10. To some degree the Men's and Women's programs are on a similar path. No NCAA tournaments and recruiting that has leveled off, as of what we know right now. Neither program appears to be moving in an upward direction. Lisa is losing her star with no replacement in sight..The NCAA for her is not on the horizon. The best St Louis players continue to reject SLU and there is no Jackie K. is sight Travis has only one hope to have a better team next year and that is JP returning. Even then, with his known recruits, I think a NCAA trip is less than a 50/50 possibility. He is losing a key back up at the 5 spot and a nice 10-15 minute PG. He has limited his incoming recruiting class to two positions, SG and SF when what we need is a back up PG and a big to fill the role of ML. I don't envision any of our 3 incoming signed recruits as adding anything other than depth next year. For all the hard work that Travis and his staff have done in working to recruit the top local players, it just has not been at the level of a few years ago. In a nutshell, both programs have reached a plateau with not much upside in sight. TF's plateau (20+ wins/year) is at a higher level than Lisa's was but nonetheless, if improvement over 4 to 6 years ago is the goal than neither has accomplished that goal, nor does it look likely for next season. I don't think Travis is, or should be, on the hot seat given multiple 20+ year winning seasons, but we need to return to the time when we could sign the Goodwin's and Yuri's of the area.
  11. With all due respect to the Ford haters on this Board, it's time to give him, not Rick M, credit for wins like this.
  12. ....but zero pts from our starting SG, We need him to do a lot better the next few games so Jimmer can get a little rest time to be ready for the last game.
  13. With another one getting ready to begin next year. Loyola. We will be needing someone to counter Sr. Jean.
  14. BAB , you have a real hangup re JN. He was out of control and against an aggressive defense like VCU, he might have set a record for turnovers. Hopefully he learns how to play basketball in the next few years not just relying on his physical abilities.
  15. No big deal. He hasn't been worth a cr@p since TJH Sr. shot his mouth off. For all you "where is JN" posters, you can't play out of control like he was today. Really disappointed in him, so much raw ability. I really thought he would be our best player this year but by this point in the year he has not learned anything other than tapping his chest when he makes one of his careless mistakes. We need a another grad transfer PG to fill the D Jones role. and we better hope JP comes back because none of our recruits are going to be difference makers next year.
  16. He hasn't been right since his Dad went on Twitter to complain about the team and how TH Jr. was being used.
  17. I know John left the HC job at Nerinx when his youngest graduated and went to DeSmet as an Asst when his son enrolled there. Some good blood lines. His daughters at NH were both well above average with his youngest, I believe setting a new school record in scoring. In addition, she starred on the soccer field, 1st team all state, and is at Clemson, a women's college powerhouse, on a soccer scholarship. I'm not sure if he would help SLU in recruiting his son(s), since his daughter was heavily recruited by SLU but chose Clemson.
  18. While you sugarcoat your report, his last two games (CBC and Desmet) don't have results that would seem to put Kramer in the top 250 , let alone the top 100 of incoming recruits.
  19. So you are saying I shouldn't take your "rule of thumb" seriously?
  20. I assume your last sentence is meant to be a joke. You do know that if we win the A 10 tourney that means we get an automatic bid to the NCAA.
  21. Signguy, thanks for all you do with this site. My point was not to criticize you but rather to point out reasons why attendance might have been lower than hoped. However, if you are still teaching at SLU or know someone who is teaching a sports mgt class, keeping this calendar and game scores up to date might be an excellent assignment for a student.
  22. Take a look at the front page of this website. By and for serious Billikens fans. Guess what? It didn't have the game on the schedule for last night.
  23. Nesbitt played a great defensive game in the 2nd half-time to go to the tape!
  24. Blowing any chance for an at-large bid by losing two in a row to the Bonnies will tend to discourage attendance. None of these game matter now unless we win the A 10 tournament.
