  1. Just passed what I think is your lot-you had some nice convertibles parked on Gravois w/ their tops down. Are you right next to Roosevelt? By the way do you pay the city rent for using the street? Just kidding.
  2. crymdg2 tried to get this going on 10/25 but didn't get many replies. I did predict 18-11 and named the losses. Also, I said the starttin 5 would be TF,IO,VN,RB, and DP with DC or AD or JJ first off the bench based on what we need. I saw RB as our leading scorer(I know, I went out on a limb there) w/ 16 a game, VN as leading rebounder w/ 6 and DP as leading assist man w/ about4.5-5. Based on just the UMSL game, I am only concerned about the VN rebounding prognosis. He just didn't seem to hit the glass. Minutes are as follows: TF-25; IO-28; VN-32; RB-30; DP-30 IV-12; DC-17; AD-16; LM/DB-10 Points as follows: TF-9; IO-9; VN-11; RB-16; DP-8; DC-6; AD-5; IV-4; LM/DB-4 for a total of 72/game. That's it , that's the answer!
  3. If so then Reggie better start paying attention to the rather basic concept of staying in-bounds. I am pretty sure all 3 of the end line violations were against him.
  4. Good first half, but we lost the 2nd half to a so-so Div 2 team by 38-27. That just shouldn't happen. I won't repeat much of the good some of you have already mentioned, but will point out a few of the concerns that I saw. In spite of some of your comments (and I hate to get on the young man so often) but IV's rebounds basicallyfell in his lap. I was surprised by BS's decision to start him so I watched very closely while he was in and he NEVER got more than 2" off the floor, in fact on 3 occasions UMSL players between 6'5" and 6'7" who were behind him actually got the rebound because they went up for the ball. If you disagree with me just watch next game. Also, it seemed like many of the players who I have seen knock down the 3 in practice were reluctent to shoot it last night. If you can shoot and you are open, "let it fly". VN, who I like very much and who surprised somewhat with his offense, was a big disappointment on the boards-he came in with a rep as a big time rebounder and he did NOT hit the boards last night. I guess this is why we play 2 exhibition games. Also I think DC could have helped. Should we be concerned that he is going to be injury prone?
  5. Even with the above I wonder why no article on tonight's game. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. Not great for attendance.
  6. Yes the towers are gone, but someone in the SID group forgot to change page 4 in the Stats section which still refers to them.
  7. A few points from the press confeence: Fr. B began this process in May when DW was the AD so this is not the brainchild of CL, Brad mentioned during his remarks some positives with regard to the Nov early signing period-he seemed upbeat about who would be signed. The ability to develop roots here in St. Louis seemed like a big deal to Brad so hopefully he won't be looking to move on.
  8. While I'm no Slaten fan, in fact the UMSL coach will regret the day he took Kevin's son in the program, I don't think it is fair to draw any conclusions about Troy's stats since his grandfather just died and is being buried today. By the way, my "regret remark" has to do with the father and not Troy.
  9. rterstaBrad continues to impress. I wonder what will happen to our and our opponent's ppp (points per possession) with this new style. It should make for more entertaining bb to watch as long as we continue to play winning ball. Good defense is often key to success when trying to play uptempo bb since this style works better after a rebound or a steal as opposed to inbounding after a score. This type of play also argues against much time for IV and BH based on their footspeed (or lack thereof). Also, if TF and VN can clear the defensive boards and we are able to push the tempo then I would expect BS to use a deep guard rotation to keep them fresh-good news for the non-starters.
  10. Where did anybody say that they were unimpressed with Reggie's performance today? What am I missing?
  11. Let's see, I've been to 4/5 practices, you've been to none, but your implication is that I'm way off base? I didn't say that they were great and going to start any games, but if you didn't know who was who and went to a practice they certainly would not standout to anyone as walk-ons. They are not being outclassed in drills and scrimmages-that doesn't mean they are as good as RB and VN just that most of the time they are holding there own. ( See someone's earlier report that VN and the walk-ons beat a group with projected starters.) My point is not that these 3 guys are going to take us to the NCAA, but rather that they are providing excellent competition for the scholarship players. With 2-4 guys on the sideline and one on suspension it's great to have students like these who are willing to give up so much of their time to make our Bills a better team.
  12. You're probably right, but I am still holding out hope that somehow JJ gets the message. Based on my view that the frontline depth is our biggest concern, I think we really need him to come back and contribute.
  13. Two things, 1) Desire and 2) You never see defense on ESPN highlights. Maybe # 2 causes # 1.
  14. I think we will match up reasonably well if DC or DB are on the floor at the 3. At 6'4" they won't be overwhelmed by traditional-sized SFs (6'5"-6'6").
  15. How can he have "rejoined the team"? He is suspended and I thought I remembered word coming from the coaching staff that the suspension would last until at least after the early tournament.
  16. Sign Guy, "when you and your fellow Dem don't know how to spell 'separate'."
  17. Not much new to report except TF and AD took part in a limited number of drills, none of them involving contact. Again I don't know what happened to TF, but based on the sidelines late in today's practice maybe BS needs to keep them out of contact drills until the season starts. With about 1 hour left of practice, the place looked like a MASH unit! LM had his ankle/foot wrapped and elevated, DB was walking gingerly on the sidelines and TF and AD, as previously mentioned joined LM and DB as walking wounded. It took 3 walk-ons and an Asst. Coach to be able to do the drills. Speaking of the Walk-ons, Ian M. and Wendell are back and are joined by a new player named Payton, a small quick guard about Polk's size. All 3 are making tremendous contributions to the team and could pass for scholarship players. WAY TO GO GUYS!
  18. My post made him the 6th man ONLY if we needed a big as the first sub, ie; TF or IO in foul trouble or needing a breather. If that is the case and JJ has returned (I assume Brad only returns him to the squad if he has had a complete transformation) then I believe JJ's talent puts him in the game b/4 IV, unless the other team's center is slow afoot without much jumping ability. If JJ has not been returned to the team, ie; has not changed his attitude, then I think we go to DC regardless of the player being subbed for, since DC allows us the flexibility to use him at pg/sg/sf. If he comes in at SF and the player going out is TF or IO then I would move IO to the 5 spot or VN to the 4 spot depending on which of the 2 (TF or IO) was being replaced. In any scenerio-with JJ on the team or not-I do not envision IV as the 1st sub when TF, IO or VN needs to come out. I appreciate his obvious work in the off-season, but he still does not have the speed, quicks or jumping ability to compete against the 5-men we will face in CUSA.
  19. 18-11 record b/4 CUSA tournament leading scorer- RB--16.3 rebounder--VN--6.2 assists- DP-- 4.7 starters: c-TF pf- IO sf- VN sg- RB pg- DP 6th man DC 7th man AD 8th man DB 9th man IV 10th man LM If JJ is reinstated make him the 6/7th man depending on if we need a big or a little first. Losses are to Cin, Char (2), L'ville, SIU, Depaul, Gonz, Marq, UAB, Iowa and Memphis
  20. Did I miss info on TF sitting out? Any word on what the problem is? By the way, I saw about 30 minutes today, and although it has been mentioned, IO looks like the player we all hoped he would be 2 years ago. Much more aggressive and much stronger.
  21. I know Randy Pulley and Danny Brown is no RP. In one practice I saw DB make more 3 pt. shots than Pulley did in a year. Also, there is no comparison to be made between the two with regard to physical build. RP was rather short and stockily built while DB is about 6'4" and lean, yet strong.
  22. In one full and one short (for me 20-30 minute) practice last week I heard Brad stop practice twice and use VN as the example of what he was trying to get across. It seems like the rest of the players better get used to playing with him as opposed to him getting used to playing with his new teammates. He is really showing leadership qualities that CS exhibited last year. Hope it continues.
  23. Roy, based on seeing VN just a couple of times, I can't see a way that Brad doesn't start him. He is just too good to be a 6th or 7th man.
  24. Today at 3:15, tomorrow at 2:30 at Bauman-Eberhardt. It would be nice if the BB office would have someone post these times weekly.
