  1. Just curious if there is any info on where Carter is heading.
  2. Thanks all for the recap. I wanted to be there but work commitments prevented that from happening. I am grateful to the people who put this together - it sounds perfectly planned and had the right message.
  3. I agree that Grawer (saved the program); Spoon (finally got us to the Tourney and popularized the program); and Majerus (a great coach and built a Top 25 program) should be honored with at least a banner with their names - say a Coach's Banner. Eddie Hickey can also be added and any other noteworthy coach. Majerus was special as he built us to a Top 25 (or close) program starting with nothing. Kevin Lisch was a stud but Tommie did not buy in. Plus, it was a pleasure watching the team grow under Majerus and it was alway a basketball lesson for me. Plus, I believe getting to the Sweet 16 was a real possibility until his health issues and ultimate death. He is without a doubt my favorite basketball person at SLU - ever.
  4. Even though he was only here 5 years, he christened the court at Chaifetz and I would like to see the court named after Coach Majerus
  5. Coach Majerus made watching the Billikens a great event - you always knew we were prepared by a true genius and his in-game coaching was flawless. We were lucky to have him part of Billiken history. I hope the team, the coaches, and us fans - can go on a mission and make this season special - for Coach.
  6. Watching most of the game, here are my thoughts: 1) we win this game with KM; 2) the FT differential is crazy - I didn't realize we were playing at Cameron - we got "homered" big time; 3) too many turnovers - we need to get crisper and smarter - KM return will help; 4) Cory got into early foul trouble but ended up with only 3 fouls in 14 minutes of play - he needed to be in the game more; 5) I am liking Manning - I hope he gets more minutes; 6) Barnett has to be able to score - if not, let Carter take those minutes; 7) I wouldn't mind Crews calling a few timeouts when needed; I so miss Majerus on the sidelines.
  7. In light of the quotes from the players in the article on ESPN: http://espn.go.com/m...lege-basketball and the tearful interview by Conklin after the loss to Mich. St., it seems the players have tremendous respect for Majerus both as a coach and person. This seems to contradict the negatives spouted about Majerus by some on this board. Coach recovering to be around at Senior Night would be tremendous.
  8. I really was impressed with Harriman as a coach, as a recruiter, and as a person. He would have been ideal as the replacement for Majerus. A big mistake letting him go.
  9. If you look at the programs that Majerus has coached, and the type of player he recruits, I truly believe he enjoys basketball as a team game - and he gets his thrills at using lesser talent to play as a unit and win against far more talented teams. He enjoys the beauty of team basketball. He is eccentric but there is no other coach I would like to have in preparing for a game.
  10. I am amazed at the lack of enforcement in college recruiting. What happened to the investigation at Miami? And Calipari is the worst offender and recruits without retribution. I so hope he gets nailed at Kentucky and they have to give up their National Championship banner. I wonder what school he will be coaching after that?
  11. That was before we beat Xavier 2 out of 3 meetings. Hill can be recruited as the type of player that can get us to the Sweet 16 and hopefully beyond.
  12. The Billiken season and possibly its future were on the line tonight. We got smacked in the mouth and played a terrible first half - but give the refs some credit for such a terribly called game. Harriman said that Conk got in the face of the team and the coaching staff broke the 2nd half down to 3 minute segments and outlined what the team needed to do each segment. I went from total despair to ectasy in the second half. What a turn around. Credit goes to Conk and the team for tremendous defense, tenacity, and this team manned up big time. My hat off to Majerus and how this team responded in our darkest hour.
  13. Best Senior Night I have been to in recent memories. Good job by the organizers and the team for making it a memorable victory.
  14. Thoughts of a frustrated fan: 1) UMass is such an undisciplined team - their offense if street ball - everyone just doing 1 on 1 and relying on their athleticism. We beat them on a neutral court. 2) Conk is a warrier - with a bad ankle he still gets us 17 pts and 8 rebounds. Doesn't that kind of effort rub off on Cory? Geez. 3) 4 pts in 36 minutes for Kwamain?? we don't win if Kwamain has 4 pts and two TOs/2 assists. 4) Dwayne didn't shoot it well but he played defense and led the team with 12 rebounds....... if Cory could do that it would be huge 5) Jordair - we love you - but please lock yourself in the gym this offseason and become a 75% FT shooter 6) Mike - 2 points in 21 minutes doesn't cut it 7) I am stunned that Barnett gets no minutes - this is the surprise of the season for me 8) we could have won this game if we didn't let our defense lapse in the final 5 minutes of the first half - our defense can never let down 9) next two games are huge 10) Go Bills!! play tough
  15. Was Evans hurt or in the doghouse??
  16. Time for the team to man-up. Make plays and win - just win baby. There will definitely be changes in minutes if players don't perform. Kwamain needs to find his 3-pt shot - that will cure a lot of our problems. Go Bills.
  17. It was a fun and exciting game - I wish we could have shot the 3-ball better. Rick Majerus has no qualms playing anywhere - and I believe he wanted to use the Pit experience to get the guys prepared for conference play. We look forward to hosting the Lobos at our place next year. Good luck the rest of the year.
  18. SLU made more 3s than the Lobos - and more 2s. So be careful when talking about bricks.
  19. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/powerrankings/_/season/2012/week/4 Looking forward to seeing how the team performs in NM Saturday. A win would be huge - I hope our defense is ready.
  20. ESPN's Joe Lunardi's has an updated NCAA tourney bracket out - SLU is currently a #6 seed in the West Regional playing #11 St. Mary's. If we win - we play #3 Mizzou. Fun to be on the radar screen - let's hope the team keeps playing hard and make defense and rebounding a priority all year.
  21. Here is a Joe Lunardi update for seeding to the 2012 NCAA tournament. He currently projects us as a 6 seed. This team is going to have to keep getting better and we need to make our home court hell to play in. • Overachievers: What do the following teams have in common? None were better than borderline NCAA candidates in our preseason evaluations, yet all have positioned themselves for more serious at-large consideration through their first 8-10 games. Let's give it up, then, for Georgetown (currently projecting as a No. 4 seed), Indiana (No. 6 seed), Saint Louis (No. 6), Stanford (No. 6), Virginia (No. 8), Northern Iowa (No. 8), Mississippi State (No. 9) and San Diego State (No. 10).
  22. Tough loss - the refs covered up their bad play and mistakes - but this isn't a bad dose of reality for the early season. We didn't defend well, poor passing, and getting out-hustled. Also, we didn't look sharp coming from behind - so let the team learn from these mistakes. It has been a great start to the season and we all needed a little dose of reality. Let's use the rest of the OOC schedule to get better, practice hard, and get ready for the A-10. From watching Xavier at Vandy, our guard play has to improve and we need Kwamain to shed the rust and get back to an elite level. We had a fun taste of being ranked. We will get there again this season - time to come home, get rested, and practice getting better. But, I will not forget this loss and let's all be ready for LMU to show up at our place next year. Payback time. Time to chill and welcome the boys back Saturday night.
  23. Good advice - let's act like we belong and stay professional.
  24. Per Tom Timmerman: tomtimm Tom Timmermann SLU got 12 votes in this week's USA Today/ESPN coaches poll, tied for 35th with Michigan State. Villanova has 48 votes. Let's keep climbing
