  1. The owner of the spirits gets several million dollars every year from the NBA. He gets like a 5% share of the TV take of the remaining ABA teams in the league. Marvin served two stints for drugs. He still struggles with it. He hangs around Rhode Island and Virginia nowadays running a charity program. He pops up in the news every once in a while. He has no job, the old owner of the spirits still supports him. He says Marvin is the nicest con man he ever met. Marvin was the craziest player in a crazy era. He would come to game late dressed in big pimp hats and floor length fur coats with his uniform on underneath. He hads big Rolls Royces he would drive around and he was a huge drug user. Late in his career when he was w/the celtics Marvin claims he snorted coke on the bench while wearing a towel over his head. He was a great great ball player, such a waste. I still don't think he has fully kicked his drug habit. Every couple years he ends up back in rehab. People still treat like a god in Providence.
  2. There has been talk that road games will be added into the equation for the RPI. If this happens next year I have no problem with some tough road games. As long as they help us. I hate to see SEC and ACC schools never leave home before conference play while SLU plays tough road games without some sort of extra credit.
  3. I only worry about not getting enough practice time at the venue and also practicing at the right time. Probably first thing tomorrow they will have to practice there and then knowing college students (and myself) they will probably take an afternoon siesta which makes them flat for the first half. If they had gotten there this afternoon they could have played at the gym tonight and then not worried about it so much tomorrow.
  4. Our Bills have had a tough go of it trying to get to Fort Wayne. They were supposed to be arriving there on a chartered jet early this afternoon. The jet had problems on the ground here. Then the charter company said they would send another plane but that one couldn't leave wherever it was due to more mechanical problems. Finally after several hours The Bills boarded a bus for the trip to Ft Wayne at about 6:30. 20 miles over the river in Illinois they got a call from the Charter plane company that they had a plane on the ground ready to go. The bus doubled back and the team finally got off the ground shortly before 8:00 tonight. How this affects the team's performance tomorrow will reamin to be seen. Get a good nights sleep boys.
  5. Considering that the best PFs the Billikens have had in the last 15 years have been 6'3 and 6'5 I would galdly take a 6'6 guy. He just needs to rebound.
  6. I was surprised by the amount of iowa fans, I was surrounded by them in 116. I can't imagine how many ND fans come out if iowa can get that many.
  7. Iowa's two guys Pierre and the other guy #4 I think were some of the best wing ballhandling players I have seen this year. They blew by everyone including Fish. Clarke more than held his own. Sitting right on the baseline Clarke made a fantastic play on #4 after he seemingly was beat reaching around and knocking the ball loose causing 4 to step on the line, that was right after he hit his off the back 3 pointer.
  8. Clarke was not wearing a big T-shirt that is why he looked bigger. You could actually see his arms. Vouyoukas needs to get stronger. He had about 4 shots that if he had taken it strong they would have all gone in. Izik is still an enigma. He was a fish out of water tonight.
  9. >I watched the first 15 minutes of the game and it looked as >if you were in for a VERY long night. > >Your team looked very rattled on offense and then couldn't >do anything to stop Iowa's offense. > >Glad to see that all changed. What a clutch shot! > >Congrats. > >PS. That damn trapezoid lane was an eyesore. The whole court was an eyesore. Purple and Yellow!!!!!!! Blaeh. I don't know whay they still have that ugly Swarm court. That team has not existed for 5 years. Take it up already.
  10. Clarke had his best game so far as a Billiken. Had 8 points. Threw away one ball and forced a shot but he was great on defense. We could not ahve won without him tonight. Great omen for the future.
  11. Drejaj was sending a clear message to Dwayne Polk that the Billikens are his team next year.
  12. The first technical I am still a little hazy on. Iowa had a player go down on their defensive end underneath the basket. Iowa then got the ball and started down the court. When a player goes down a ref is supposed to stay with him and play gets stopped if his team has the ball. The refs did not notice the player down and I believe Soderberg was yelling at them to recognize that a player was hurt. These refs were so clueless that they called a T on Brad for yelling about it. Soderberg was clearly stunned at the call.
  13. Maybe you are just a metrosexual.
  14. There were tons of Iowa fans. I guess pretty close to full in the bottom bowl. I am not sure of the exact attendance but it was a fairly raucous crowd. Great job by the blue Crew BTW. Nice turnout especially since the game was in St Chuck.
  15. One more win would have put us in the tournament.
  16. Don't kow if anyone realized this but if DePaul beats Dayton which I think they will Dave Leatio (sp?) matches up against his mentor Jim Calhoun against UConn. That is a very intriguing matchup. Laetio is only a couple years removed from UCONN. It must be tough to face your mentor at this level of competition. I think the winner of that game will go to the Final 4.
  17. I think the comittee took the elitsm to a new level. They added more teams from CUSA, A-10 and downgraded the PAC 10 and Big 10 but w/ the exception of the Zags and St Joes the top 16 seeds are dominated by a couple conferences. 12 of the top 16 seeds are from 4 conferences. Half of the top 16 are from just two conferences. I cannot buy that. The system is still heavily in favor of the ACC, Big 12, SEC etc. They threw some of the other conferences a bone and let us beat up on each other so it will still work out to be an ACC final four. Most ridiculous are that CUSA a 6 bid league cannot get a team above a 4 seed? Wisconsin a top 10 and Big 10 champ gets a 6?????? While mediocre .500 ACC teams get top 4 seeds.
  18. >Now they'll never be a consistent national power due to their >conference affiliation, however they offer good, quality basketball. Of course this isn't trolling. He is just marginalizing Xavier and the A-10 which just so happens to be the conference SLU is joining. Yeah sure. The A-10 is ranked ahead of the Pac 10 this year. Hard to believe that you can call them mid major. When SLU and Charlotte join the A-10 the conference will be a consistent 4 bid league or better. That is no mid major.
  19. St Johns beat us for the NIT title. St Johns has been in the NIT more times than any other school (25) and won it more times than any other school (5)
  20. There are area high school gyms with more capacity than UMSL's. That would be a total bush league move. Family arena will be fine. It is is right off 70.
  21. He may have gotten a 20 but can he qualify grade wise? There is a reason we don't here about teams courting Mr Muse like we do other players.
  22. I don't think SLU can get a real home game. We would have to play at St Chuck family arena.
  23. I believe Hunt shot 5-9 from the field. Surprisingly Angres Thorpe on the postgame show kinda downplayed Hunt's performance. He was giving most of the credit to Fish and Sloan.
  24. We play the Memphis Tigers tomorrow. Nice comeback tonight guys. Have to give props to Phillip Hunt 14 points WOW!!!!! Not only his career high but possibly matches his previous total career output.
