  1. Does anybody know why Brad was so passive last night? Unlike most games he just sat on the bench. He did not get up and encourage his team or work the refs. I thought he might have been sick but he sounded fine on the post game show.
  2. Financing is not an issue. SLU can sell revenue bonds on the project anytime they want. It would cost them about 4.75% to issue 30 year muni debt. Several underwriters were lined up a long time ago.
  3. If my boss was standing behind me I would not be typing this post.
  4. Hey it's hard to make a souffle. I do agree Q has shown little ability to develope anyone.
  5. I disagree with your comments on AD. It was obvious to me[and one of my sons] that he was not and full speed ,could not get his shot off,had trouble keeping up with his man. Brad should have limited his time to no more than 5 min. per half. You don;t miss 3 weeks then play extended min. Those extended min . kept Kevin,Tommie or Danny on the bench when they were playing better.
  6. At the Billiken Club meeting on Monday Brad was asked about his inbound plays. His response was that our plays are designed to get the ball inbounds and nothing more. He feels that few teams score off set plays and those that try risk turnovers. While he may be right I do believe there are times in a game when you should try to score even if it risks a turnover.
  7. I thought Cheryl put emphasis on the word currently. I also feel that the practice facility/offices is a done deal. Biondi will build this building this year even if he has to take the 10 million from somewhere else.
  8. Last night at the billiken club meeting Cheryl said she had spend the day with architects planning the practice facility and offices that will be part of the new arena. She also said that current plans are for 13000 seats. If it's going to be downsized it certainly isn't official. She said fund raising has stalled but ground would definitely be broken in 06.
  9. I would agree that may have been the greatest Billiken dunk of all time but the greatest Billiken dunker of all time was Monroe Douglas. I think he scored half his points on lobs for dunks. Every few years I will pull out a tape the athletic dept. produced called "Sit in on a Jam Session"It was the 86-87 season. Man could we dunk in those days.
  10. no ######'What do you think we have Vashon uniform money?
  11. We made some changes in how we played against the zone last night and I'm not sure if it was good or bad. Previously we would have Tommie flash into the middle around the free throw line and try to distribute the ball or score himself. Last night that position was played by whoever was the 4 man. Newbourne had 1 excellent dump down to Ian and JJ made a few jumpers. What I didn't like was the fact that it pushes Tommie further away from the basket and exposes his jump shot. It makes him a bigger Polk in that he has open shots he should take but so far hasn't shown the ability to make. We did generate good looks for Danny. When Danny is set to shoot he has a very good looking stroke.
  12. I agree with your comments about Polk on the break. For a team that can't score from the outside I would rather see us attack the basket on the break. Take a chance. Force the issue. Throw the lob to Tommie. Kick the ball to Kevin for a trailing three. Brad is probably reluctant to do this because he wants Ian to touch the ball. Danny Brown would certainly be more valuable in this type of game. Brad says he wants to run,but I think he is afraid to, and can't live, or won't live with the turnovers and occasional bad shot you will get in a more aggressive style. If we won't play this style then I agree with posters who say Dwayne should play less and Luke more.
  13. One of Fr. Biondi's labs was named Iggy. Do you think he was named after our Iggy????
  14. I'm anxious to see Hansen vs. Ian. I'm hoping they play Ian straight up. Ian needs to take it into Hansen and get him in foul trouble.
  15. I agree with your substitution pattern but just make sure that either Ian or JJ is in the game.
  16. What I really don't like is the few times that JJ and Ian have been out of the game at the same time. We really become weak on the boards when that occurs. Vashun should only be in the game at the same time as Ian.
  17. Maybe Bryce was in the car with Jason Edwin when they ran over Roy's dog.
  18. Brad said that their point is as fast as Polk. Should be fun to watch.I hope we make them play our game[use JJ]instead of theirs.
  19. Drejaj's injury may give Danny Brown a second chance. That may be a good thing.
  20. A lot of Drejej's stats were from the first few games. His recent offense has been very limited. Kevin is a much better threat to score. That said what you don't know is the leadership quality. It's hard for a freshman but this should be Tommies Team. He is the guy who's directing trafic and creating the flow of the game. He has a huge basketball IQ.
  21. Looking forward to it. I was a high school student in Ky. when the game was played. I was probably the only kid in the state pulling for Texas Western. I was a Louisville fan who hated Kentucky.
  22. On Slaten's show last night they were talking about a rumor of Grimes transferring to UMSL. If you go to a division 2 program you don't have to sit out. With our lack of bigs I would take him in a second.
  23. Brad cost me $10. I bet Kshoe that he would start off with Dreja on him. I know he would shoot over him but I just felt he would try to turn him into a jump shooter and pray he misses. I hope Tommie stays out of foul trouble and doesn't lose his offensive focus.
