We come into the game at B overall and VCU comes in at B+. Let's simplify this. It's all about the TOs. We had a whopping 20 TOs in the last game against VCU. 20 is usually an automatic loss against any team. Yet after 3 qtrs we were tied...down 4 with 4 min to go...Amazing we were able to stay that close with the staggering amount of TOs....VCU scored 22pts on TOs...we had 7pts on TOs...To give up that many TOs and pts and yet hang close means we could have won the game. WELL...we have another chance....Match them on TOs + make the slash = win. Report Card.... 3 categories up( All Def....PPG, FG% & 3P%) ....Meanwhile , VCU has gotten better PPG and FG% since we last played them. We still have the better offense...they have the better defense. Their offense is better than GM but not up to the Bills. Their defense is also better than GM but not as good on 3P% as Mason. The Wiz Posted March 12, 2023 Author Share Posted March 12, 2023 A disappointing loss...why? ...because it was a 3rd "just miss" loss to the same team...some of it predictable and preventable ...some not... The predictable that I mentioned in this thread and the 2 previous VCU threads was the demon monster of TOs...we managed to close the gap somewhat this game but still gave up an extra 8 pts on Pts off TOs. The unpredictable was the loss of Okoro. He averages almost 9 rebs/gm...he had 0 when he had to leave the game after just 4 mins. This lead to a VCU reb advantage of 37 to 30 which in turn allowed a Rams 2nd chance pt advantage of 14-8...an extra 6 pts. Interestingly, Okoro missed the last game with VCU on Feb 28th and we lost that one too by 12 pts. 8+6 = 14pts ...ball game....The slash was overall good enough to win had the above factors been better....49/45/61...though we left 3 more pts on the table at the FT line. Bottom line ...we dropped 3 to VCU...win 1 of 3( this game) and we are probably Dancing. In any case , I will do the season wrap up for the Bills on Apr 4...there will be some interesting numbers and observations at that time.
