kshoe
Return games from last year Pacific @ home Loyola @ home SIU @ home @ Missouri St. Somewhere else it was reported that we would play at Kent St. this year.
Dungeon Yankee
Thanks. I also read somewhere that U of Detroit might be in the picture but that may have been more conjecture than fact.
slu72
Wouldn't we expect at least one biggie for an away game this year? And they are the first to open the new arena. Someone had mentioned Louisville a while back. Any indication who the big might be?
dewey33
The reality is...the first hoops game in the new arena will probably be an exhibition...usually our first exhibition is UMSL. They could probably do a full blown "Billiken Madness" in the arena for a kick off too.
Four Seventeen
If Rick Majerus is smart, and I think he is, he will schedule UMSL at Fam. Arena or something and have a game or two away from STL before opening up the Rocking Chaifetz Arena and a standing-room-only crowd for the Home Opener against a Georgetown or Boston College. It only makes sense; but knowing SLU, they'll open it against dUMSL.
slu72
I'd like to see the following in this order: > Marquette > Duke > Louisville > Notre Dame > Georgetown > KU > Ill > Mizzery any others?
davidnark
All I care about is seeeing Liddell, Lisch, and Suggs in the backcourt with Thompson and Bradenburg in the front court. The opponent is secondary.
dewey33
Unless its a "Made for ESPN" game or a tournament, no big-time team will agree to be the potential victim of a Billiken love-fest at the opening of a new arena...

MSU is having a similar problem. I know we're playing Auburn, and they ARE an SEC team, but not a very prominent one.
cheeseman
Exhibition games are not real games so they do not count when you talk about the opening of the arena. Even the Cardinals played an exhibition game at the new stadium before their first home game. Why would you want the team to not be able to play a couple of practice games before the real one in the new arena - that would be a huge advantage to us. Also, the exhibition games would give the school a chance to make sure all the bugs were out before the real thing started. Make much more sense to play your regular schedule as is. Lousiville was mentioned only because on the website they have their name on the scoreboard as a promo.
Four Seventeen
That was also unfortunately the biggest win during the Soderberg era.
willie
With some luck maybe we can pick up a pre-season tournament. If somebody drops out of a scheduled tournament RM's name might make for a good replacement.
