  1. I like how this has been a constant basing of insults off of hypotheses. Coach Martin said the Bears already are committed to five road games and two neutral-court games and could not visit SLU next season. "We cannot afford another road game," he said, adding that he hoped to resume the series in two years. Kyle Moats (MSU AD) said they wanted a 4 year deal, 2 years ago but SLU wouldn't sign the deal. Also, "We're not scared of them, but we can't play next year. We'll sign an 8-year deal then, if they want. We absolutely want to play them." It ain't that big of a deal, guys.
  2. Fuehrmeyer is a point of contention among the MSU fanbase. He's a hard worker, good ethic, good leadership, lots of energy, but maybe not the most gifted athlete. He makes Trout go limp, but some of us appreciate him for the non-statistical things he does.
  3. So much for being more impressed with SLU fans than other fanbases. Wow.
  4. ...Good one? EDIT: And yes, I am. But I still pay attention to the Billikens and Tigers because they're important to the state of basketball in the, well, state.
  5. And apparently one that opposing coaches are too stupid/lazy to adjust to very well. And for the record, I hate SIU, Jamal Tatum, Chris Lowery, but coincidentally, I also hate these excuses and whining.
  6. At SIU. That unstoppable bastion of worthless MVC-contact-sport basketball trailer park arena, or so I read on here.
  7. Did it occur to anybody that Valley teams would always lose on away games if they played such horrible basketball that was always so full of fouls? As in.. for example, SIU would never do well in exempt tournaments because they'd always foul out. Some teams play physical games. That's just how it is. It should be part of the SLU game plan to counter that physicality, not blame it. Other teams have beat SIU at home before. Other teams have beat MVC teams at home, too.
  8. I'll say that there have been numerous names mentioned as possible coaching candidates for MSU in my parts, but not once have I heard any connections or rumors involving Soderberg.
  9. I think a bigger worry would be that SLU only scored 2 points with its bench. It's going to be hard to do much without any support for the starters.
  10. To answer questions, Chris Cooks played. Lamont Austin did not. David Cline was nowhere to be seen. The Newsleader today said that Cline tried to sell a stolen camera, and Cooks and Austin happened to be there.
  11. Because there's also a backcourt. And we have issues rebounding at times. And we aren't all that great on defense all the time.
  12. Drew Richards is 18/22 FG and plays solely down low. Has some nice post moves this year that he didn't have when you last saw him. He's a big tree trunk. Good banger. Dale Lamberth is shooting about .480 from three and has the sweetest touch shooting that I've ever seen. He generally plays outside, but can somehow get it in the basket in so many ways when playing inside as well. He's definitely not a banger though. Deven Mitchell will do just about everything. Incredibly athletic, big slasher/banger. Have seen him shoot from outside and mid-range jumpers as well. He'll do whatever he needs to do.
  13. That's because there's a 23 page thread about it already, and they're trying to keep it from spilling into every other discussion there. But the status is that they're suspended, and charges still haven't been filed. And don't the away teams usually bring their own refs in non-con games?
  14. Let us all hope for good clock management. And I don't mean by the teams.
  15. >Unless its a "Made for ESPN" game or a tournament, no >big-time team will agree to be the potential victim of a >Billiken love-fest at the opening of a new arena... MSU is having a similar problem. I know we're playing Auburn, and they ARE an SEC team, but not a very prominent one.
  16. >I think it is impossible to rank SLU right now because no >one--not even Majerus--knows how and what SLU personnel will >be used going into next season. Sure, Liddell and Lisch >will still line up in the backcourt, but beyond that >everything is unknown. In that case, I would still rank them above UMKC and SEMO, if not ahead of Mizzou or MSU. They're definitely not in the bottom half.
  17. It's a close one. Unfortunately, I'd say Mizzou is number 1, due to only losing 1 player that didn't play very much and showing signs of life last year. 1. Mizzou 2. MSU 2. SLU 4. SEMO 5. UMKC Yes, I have it as a toss-up between MSU and SLU, as I would consider MSU with slightly better players, but SLU has a better coach now. UMKC is still the suck, and I don't see them faring very well in the newly-named Summit next year. The top three are all very close though, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them all in the NIT at the least, and possibly the NCAA for one of them.
  18. >saw in the belleville paper this morning that kyle kirk has >joined harrelson at swic now as well. seems pretty obvious >they want to play for majerus. It seems pretty obvious to everyone else that Kirk had some academic issues.
  19. You just said it yourself.. media mastermind. I said it before.. it's BS. Put two and two together. He keeps up with these things because it keeps the conference in the papers, and people have it on their minds. The old adage.. any attention is good attention. It's working out for SLU and Majerus too, I imagine. Recruits that wouldn't have had SLU on their minds before know they exist now, and know that there's a big-name /body coach there now too.
  20. Most Valley fans don't even recognize adding SLU. It's a non-issue for most of them, so there's not much need to worry about it. The fire just got fueled when that whole thing about Majerus wanting the Valley got started. It's a bunch of BS.
  21. Barry Hinson is still available guys.
  22. Please take Barry Hinson.
  23. >I'm not one to bash players, but I'm telling you guys you >don't want Frazier. He quit the team twice (came back once) >and I don't think he's truly committed to playing >basketball. Beyond that, he plays like a 3 rather than a 5. > I'd probably start Husak over Frazier, but that's just me. >He started 17 games as a Sophomore, and averaged 15 minutes >per game. That was his best rebounding season and he >averaged just over 4 per game. I totally agree that we >misused him and probably shouldn't have recruited him. He >just doesn't fit our team. > >That said, it seems as if you guys will have an extra >scholarship for 2007 that you want to have open for 2008. >If that's the case, Sky would be a good fit. He would at >minimum provide added depth. This is worth reading. After scanning over the posts above, you guys seem to think that if you're recruiting Frazier that you'll get a 5. You won't be. Sky is not a true center. He's a guard in a center's body. He doesn't bang. When you try to make him bang, he can foul out in 15 mins of playing time. He gets frustrated and just starts flailing. If you want to run a 4 guard 1 big man offense where they can all shoot 3's, then he'd be perfect. But for a center, he is not.
  24. Sure must be a shame to have a commissioner put effort into his conference. O_o
