Quest
Who comes to mind for filling the vacancy?
BillikenTX
Cheryl has to have someone in mind, considering the seemingly poor timing. Maybe someone on the west coast as most of her ties are on the west coast.
Quest
Montgomery?
ACE
Mike Montgomery? That might be out of our league. I think Monson, with his Gonzaga background would have made sense. Personally, I think it would make more sense to have a coach with an East Coast background considering we are in the A-10. Bruiser Flint? Mike Jarvis? (did he have NCAA problems?) Quest
And College of Charlestown was out of Bobby Cremins' league? Cremins is more renowned than Mike Montgomery as far as most people are concerned. Most Stanford games began when old Bobby had his Ramblin Wreck wins tucked away in bed. Monty would be a delicious and sexy choice for Saint Louie U. Great Day in the Morning...
Westy03
I thought Bonner was a lock?
BillikenTX
Jarvis has had several issues stemming from his days at St Johns, he is a big name however. Montgomery would be a huge splash. Reggie Theus from New Mexico State might be an intriguing name to follow.
Quest
Maybe he is. Maybe I was just jacking myself off thinking he'd make a good coach...I'd kill to see old Monty on the sidelines.
Box and Won
I've always liked Mike Jarvis. The situation at the end of his tenure at St. John's, however, was not good. How about Kim Anderson (former Mizzou assistant) at Central Missouri State? He totally revived the program there and had the Mules in the Division II final four. FromDaEastSide
Not that it means anything now a days, but Scott Sutton just got a contract extension from Oral Roberts.
ACE
I'm not saying he is out of our league. I don't know.
Quest
It's a shame we got in the game so late: I would have loved to see the Blue Crew in mock turtlenecks for Tommy Ammaker.
BB Scout
I say first Loyola University Chicago, coach Jim Whitesell or then maybe Bob Marlin coach from Sam Houston State.
Quest
We need Mike Montgomery. I don't want a no-name. Montgomery's Gentry 2007-2008 Saint Louis Basketball.
Quest
Pete Gillen? That's someone Crazy Joe Wiley said. Wow. I'd love to see the sweat come back.
Quest
Stallings? I know he's a local boy...maybe he would want to be close to his ailing mother.
StLouBlue
Whitesell is good friends with Brad. I would be very surprised if he looked at SLU after Brad being fired like this.
brianstl
Bobby probably would have never considered SLU. He told Grawer it was a bad situation twenty years ago and to take the Bradley job when he had the chance. Things have changed, but I don't know if they have changed enough yet. MU88
>Stallings? I know he's a local boy...maybe he would want to >be close to his ailing mother. Stallings makes over $1.3 million per year and coaches in the SEC. Be realistic. Montgomery is a west coast guy. No chance. Too bad Marshall was hired by WSU. He would have been a good pick. O'Neil, Mike Dunlap, Nuggets assistant coach, and Sutton would all be good selections.
brianstl
Right don't we just toss Roy and Coach K into the mix. I think some people are really misinformed about where SLU is considered in the pecking order by choaches around the country.
Nebraska_Bob
Eddie Sutton? Not that I would want to see him but in the Omaha paper the other day he made a comment about coaching again and he had talked to an athletic director. Just speculation no fact. Billiken Law
>I've always liked Mike Jarvis. The situation at the end of >his tenure at St. John's, however, was not good. > >How about Kim Anderson (former Mizzou assistant) at Central >Missouri State? He totally revived the program there and >had the Mules in the Division II final four. He wrecked St. John's. Not a good coach, bad recruiter. While the violations committed there were minor and not Jarvis's doing, he still would NOT be a good hire at SLU. As one friend close to the SJU program said to me "Jarvis didn't just take thugs and trash, he took thugs and trash from elsewhere. At least take the local ones." Too bad Tommy Amaker got hired already.
BillikenTX
Eddie Sutton are you serious? In the press release it said SLU wanted a coach who runs a clean program. Fast Eddie isn't the cleanest of coaches, might as well put Jim Harrick in the hat while you are at it. Plus Eddie is still recovering from his DUIs, no way SLU hires Eddie Sutton. boomerang
just off the top of my head... Current head coaches: Reggie Theus - New Mexico St Jeff Neubaeur - Eastern Ky (former Beleien Asst at WV), interviewed at St Bonny earlier this year Houston Fancher - Appalachian St Darrin Horn - Western Ky (former Crean Asst), his bio claims he recruited Dwayne Wade and Travis Diener to Marquette Assistant coaches: John Groce - Ohio St Ken McDonald - Texas I'm sure there are still good options that are available. ACE
They are talking about the Sutton who coaches at Oral Roberts.
