Late afternoon Coach Berhalter will announce his 26 man World Cup Roster.  Early rumors have St. Louis connected Josh Sargent and Tim Ream on the squad.  Just read on CBS where Steffan won't be selected.

For the one or two of you who are interested, the squad will be announced live at 4 pm on ESPN2 and ESPN+.

The leaked roster that had Sargent and Ream also had Steffen. It will be interesting to see which of the reports is accurate.

That’s a fair point, but at the same time, we saw plenty of times last year where we got a 10-15 point lead midway through the second half, only to change how we played and ultimately blew the lead and lost. Maybe I’ll have a different opinion if somebody picks up an injury inside 2:00 to go with a 20 point lead, but for now I’m all for keeping the foot on the gas.

We also have two of our most important games of the season within the first four games. It is critical to ensure our starters and rotational guys are firing on all cylinders very soon.

I still like the Bills at -11.5 but not enough to go out of my way crossing the River. If I have any errands that takes me towards 55 and 270 I might pull the trigger.

I just checked FanDuel and they have them at +10,000 to win the whole F’ing thing.

Other teams at +10000 include Florida State, Syracuse, Memphis, Wisconsin, Xavier, and Iowa.
Notables around them include Louisville and Ohio state at +12000 and UConn and USC Trojans at +8000.

Put $1,000 on +10,000, hedge each game beginning with the Sweet 16, and profit

I am almost 100% certain that is the deal for all home non-con and conference games not picked up for national broadcast by one of the conference's media partners.

This is correct and has been the case for a few years.

My expectations are lower. An NCAAT bid would be a good outcome.

A team that advances far in the tourney should be able to beat Bradley (minus their best player) in Regulation (Yes, I understand it was an exhibition and coach could have been trying new things out and yadda yadda) and should not struggle against UMSL.

Just my honest unpopular opinion. It's not like we have a TON of new pieces that are learning to work together (Yes there are some, but much less than most teams).

**EDIT: Typo, yes the Bradley game was a secret Scrimmage not an exhibition. **

I have concerns about Ford's ability to take us on a deep tourney run, BUT if you can't get excited about this team you might be wasting your time being a fan.

Sorry ... NIL has got 'crash and burn' written all over it.

I understand geldemacher's statement ..... in the fed, each city you go to has a meals and allowance number attached to it.  Highest likely San Francisco, New York, Hawaii, etc.  I think the lowest was a standard rate or $59 a day.  First and last day of travel paid out 75%.  That's what you got for meals, tips, baggage handling, etc.  You had to make it work.  I knew a guy who went to Oakland, bought a loaf of bread and a jar of jelly and had that all week.  Truly S-A-D!  I never operated that way.  But one meal at Ruth's Chris could wipe out the whole budget.  Simple -- don't go to Ruth's Chris.

Think about it .... should we as a program be forced to give guys like Adam Knollmeyer, Brett Jolley, Anthony Mitchell, etc. money.  For what?  The only place Knollmeyer's NIL would go is on a beat up old trash can.  Tuition, fees, room, board, books plus a weekly stipend should be well enough in ym book.

If this is the future, I don't see it as sustainable.  Money is still the root of all evil, right?

Auburn has paid $37 million to fire (buyout) head football coaches since 2020. Please keep telling us the players don’t deserve it, there isn’t enough money, etc etc etc

  7. Ford has mentioned so many different players are handling some back-PG duties because that’s how it will be. Yuri will play 35+ minutes per game. He will only sit for a few possessions at a time. I’m sure a variety of guys will bring the ball up during the limited time Yuri is out of the game.

And his sample size will likely be back down closer to what it was 2 years ago than last year due to minutes. But that doesn't change what was initially said in the post, that I think THJ plays more minutes than I initially thought he would going into the season.  I posted on a thread that I guessed somewhere around 8-10 min, and I'm starting to think it could be a little more.

I agree. THJ is a great piece, especially off the bench.

I'll be honest, until you commented and I looked it up, I thought he had finished somewhere near high 30s, and I was avg that with his 42% from the year prior. Still, that brings us to 38% so not like I'm way off here..

Last season he shot 34.8% on 92 attempts. That is a more predictive number than his small sample size 2 years ago.

This type of comment really has me thinking THJ plays a decent amount of minutes.  THJ is a 40% 3 point shooter, high% around the rim, and plays better defense.

Thanks for sharing! In what world is THJ a 40% 3 point shooter?

I'm sure there's a good explanation and calling the ticket office would be a good idea. My guess is the major culprit is just that tickets haven't been distributed physically or digitally. If that's not the case I've always had a weird situation where it seems my normal ticketmaster account doesn't sync with my Billiken tickets.

That is a Ticketmaster programming issue. I have experienced the same with colleges teams, pro teams, and across leagues. It is absolutely infuriating.

What’s wrong with that? Plenty of people go to work or do something else instead of going straight to college, and when they apply later in life, the college is happy to accept them as long as they qualify academically. One example, someone enlists in the Army right out of high school, gets out of the Army when there enlistment is up, and then applies for college, and the coach thinks he can play a sport. Are you saying the college shouldn’t accept them or let them play because they tried something else out of high school instead of going straight to college? What if someone gets a construction job out of high school, and then decides to get a college degree? I don’t see the difference between those examples and someone trying to play pro basketball, yet today the NCAA won’t let play today them because they got money from a pro team. How is someone getting money from some other source for a few years before going to college acceptable, but if it’s money for playing a sport it’s unacceptable?  Especially when NCAA players stay eligible despite getting NIL money for playing sports?

Those are absurd comparisons and you know it. We don't need to discuss further if you are advocating for a setup that would allow LeBron James to play four years at a college after his pro career is finished. It will never happen.

Every year during the draft there are a lot of players not taken in the draft that have accepted money, or somehow otherwise are no longer eligible for NCAA play. I’m this age of NIL, it makes no sense to me that those players can’t change their minds and play NCAA Basketball ( and maybe get a degree if things don’t work out for them professionally). I’d like to see that change. This would give the NCAA access to players that today don’t have it.

Where do you draw the line? It could work if it was only a one-time opportunity if the player is not drafted. However, your first post about it would seemingly allow someone to spend 5 years bouncing around the pros before returning to an NCAA team.

They have had a football (D2) level program for years so the cost of moving up to D1 is not nearly as great as moving into the OVC group of regional teams.  Starting a program from scratch fighting for top recruits with MO and ILL is a different story.  And btw, Lindenwoods financials are much larger than you would guess them to be.

I agree with most of your post except the financial reference. SLU’s endowment is almost $1.5 BILLION more than Lindenwood’s endowment. Of course, endowment isn’t everything, so enlighten us regarding Lindenwood’s “financials”.

Well hell, if there ever was a season I thought we could go 30-0 this is that season.

Hey, if I'm right, I'll be able to crow about it forever. If not, well, just another MBM drinking gulping the Koolaid.

30-0. (If not, I won't be livid like that Backhand guy. Just a bit disappointed.)

And this board will forever debate whether the Paul Quinn game should be included in our W total
