  1. Starting a thread to capture all the non A10 rumors. Established already that UConn wants Hurley. Yeah that's half A10. Smith out at Memphis, Hardaway the target Pitt is talking with Tom Crean Simmons out at Evansville, and Evansville product Calbert Cheaney is first on their list. Georgia offered to Thad Matta, and he apparently turned them down.
  2. Stockard had to sit two years at St. Bonnie due to a right foot problem (sound familiar?) He went JUCO out of HS, so perhaps his grades needed help? He played 2 years at Allen CC. He is listed as a Junior. This really is his first year in D1 ball. If he gets two Redshirts (one medical), then he has one more year of eligibility.
  3. I saw a 2015 NCAA Study on graduate transfers. Unfortunately, only 34% of basketball grad transfers obtained a graduate degree. That raised to 43% for graduate players who stayed at the same school. So most are in it for the basketball, and not enough are in it for the degree. Many graduate degrees take 2 years. Typically the athletic eligibility runs out in 1.
  4. Okay that's kind of what I thought. Was Bishop's name linked by Rosenblum to a two year suspension? Didn't he say some were 18 months, some 2 years? I forgot and don't want to go back to find out.
  5. A serious question here. How do you approach Austin, a GT and tell him, come to SLU - "we think you can give us 6 to 8 minutes a game as a backup PG". Yeah, yeah - we will make the NCAA tourney (no guarantee), which many teams will be saying at this time. 6 to 8 minutes is likely what Austin would get at Vandy with Garland coming in. With Shittu also in and Langford a possibility, Vandy could make the NCAA next year as well as SLU. Why wouldn't me go somewhere and get 20+ minutes?
  6. Interesting that Graves is on the Verbal Commits transfer list and Bishop isn't.
  7. https://gradtransfertracker.com/potential-transfers-1/ Grad transfer site. It should blow up in the next few weeks. Hover over Basketball Transfer and you will get the short list of those already commited.
  8. Two additional team issues for those interested. Since the 1990-91 season, this team set the record for Foul Shots Attempted and surprise, for Total Blocks. The previous high for FTA had been the 2012-13 NCAA Team, and the high in blocks had been the 2013-2014 NCAA Team.
  9. I didn't see the need to 'quote' your entire summary, but as usual, great recap Pistol. I keep longer lists of records, just because..... A couple of interesting situations: French ends up tied with Tommy Liddell for 12th on the Freshman Scoring List. (Good company.) Goodwin finished 16th in Freshman FT%, between Hughes and Conklin. (Hope for the future?) French finished in FT%, ...well let's not go there. Bess finished 12th in Junior Steals sandwiched between Evans and Jett. Johnson sits in 13th for Career 3FG%, between McBroom and Highmark. Johnson's % is of course fluid. Foreman is 38 FG Made short of qualifying, but if he keeps his .626 pace, he would take top ranking in FG% over Big Chill's .623. We will see what happens next season. Overall the home average attendance of 6,235 was the second worse in the ten years at Chaifetz but a substantial increase from last season's 5,593.
  10. Oklahoma finished 2-8 in their last 10. They shouldn't have been in. But Rhody should handle them.
  11. Hurley will have his pick of several jobs. Chances are good he bolts. His 28th ranked recruiting class will disintegrate if he does. Schmidt may get some sniffs also. Look at the players he can convince to go to Olean, NY. He might be a Plan B for someone. A smart school would look at McKilop too.
  12. I was at a conference in DC where Vitale was the keynote speaker. I agree, he was very good. He was great working the crowd. His dress shirt was totally soaked when he was done. In comparison, the next year Joe Gibbs was the speaker. He put the entire crowd to sleep. He didn't get off his stool the enter hour.
  13. Everyone has their favorites and ones they don’t like. Bill Raftry is the one I turn off. He ruined the Final Four last year.
  14. Since 1939 the KY high school All Stars have played the IN HS All Stars. It used to be a lot bigger deal than it is now with the multitude of All Star games. It will be fun to see if Pearson plays in that game.
  15. I copied this from the A10 Blog referenced on the front page of Billikens.com. This is from Coach Ford discussing Davell Roby. Powerful words from Coach. “He’s meant a lot to the university to our basketball team and to our athletic department,” Ford said. “Here is a young man who came from Memphis, Tennessee to Saint Louis University and gave Saint Louis University a chance and Saint Louis University gave him a chance and Davell Roby took advantage of that. I’ve said it many times in the last couple weeks, talking about him as a senior: He’s a true student athlete. He’s the definition. His picture should be right there by student athlete. He has taken full advantage of an incredible education that you get at Saint Louis University. Incredible. It’s not an easy place academically; it’s challenging. “In the two years that I’ve known him, I’ve never had to call him into my office because he missed a class or because he missed a tutor or didn’t do well in a class or whatever it is. He rises to the occasion. He’s learned at Saint Louis University how to be a very accountable, responsible young man. He’s prepared for the next step, whatever that is for him, because he’s put a lot in to Saint Louis University, a lot, time and effort and great attitude, a lot. He’s put a lot into it, and Saint Louis University has given a lot back to him. For two years, like I said, he has a smile on his face every single day; and as I told him, man, he’s always going to have me in his corner for what he’s represented."
  16. 247 ranks Rhody's recruiting glass as #28 in the nation. If Hurley stays (I think he bolts) they could be in the top third of the league. For information purposes, SLU is #45 in the rankings.
  17. Mr. Roby has permanently etched his name in the Billiken Record Book. He sits in 23rd in Career Points Scored, between two other Billiken greats, Conklin and Ferry. He is 7th in both Career 3's Attempted and 3's Made. Interestingly he is one ahead of McCall in both categories, and also edged McCall in 3% at 36.5% (17th place) to 35.9% (18th place). That's good company. Roby ties Douglass and Heinrich for 10th place in Games Play with 128. He is 11th in Minutes Played in a Career, one minute behind Billiken Great Claggett. He also tied Kevin Lisch for minutes played in one season, both with 1068 for 17th on the all time list. That is one heck of a career Mr. Roby. What was a memorable moment last night, watching Coach and Roby embrace on the sidelines.
  18. Wow, trashing our win. I'm proud that we won. It was a hard fought game.
  19. I like French remaining out of bounds. Can’t get fouled out there.
