Didn't say they were successful at it. Usually criminals who maintain ties to law enforcement do so because they've been caught multiple times.
Typical of St. Louis to continually defend criminals in our community. Don't particularly care how they live. Irons is a convicted felon who recieved favorable treatment in his jail sentence, his best friends and business associates are criminals, he has admitted to cheating in gaining admittance for players to go to his school, paying for housing, forging documents, he's admitted to skimming off the top in the school district that employed him for 40 years, stealing thousands or more. The same corrupt school district employs his son in the same job he had, a son who was involved in the father’s criminal enterprises. This isn't hyperbole, this info is from court documents. I guess it’s all ok because his teams win games.
Iron father or son creams any Crews/Ford team, with equal or lesser college-level talent…

Travis’ do nothing no purpose clock eating weave handcuffed guys like TJ and Gibby from fully showing off their skills. TJ, because of his ability to sky, rarely got screens to shake his defender and get more layups and jams. Gibby got virtually no help either from screeners or inside out passes. After 8 years of watching Ford’s offense I still saw no rhyme or reason to it. It’s hard to understand how a guy who likely grew up with a basketball in his hands everyday never grasped the basic X’s and O’s.
The fact Ford was never an assistant coach like Moser also contributed to this problem.

I wonder why they called Melvin “Big Chill” ?
Big Mel said it was because people say “I always be chillin.’”

I’m sure he loved and appreciated his time at ISU but why stay in a conference where you win 28 games and can’t make the tournament? More money, better facilities, better NIL. ‘Nuff said. Next year will be fun.
Exactly, conference remains a liability. Ben Jacobson stays, remaining hot MVC coaches bolt.

I questioned Schertz as our choice for coach about a month ago for not having any big wins on his resume at Indiana State. It wasn't a criticism, just and observation that he had not beaten anyone of note other than Drake, who ISU also lost to twice this year. Just want to point out that in the NIT, Schertz has beaten the #65 NET team (SMU), the #89 NET team (Minnesota), and the #37 NET team (Cincinnati). Only Cincinnati could be considered really quality win, but I am still much more excited about the possibility, or hopefully likelihood, of him being our next coach.
Coach Grawer's teams played way stiffer competition in the NIT. Avila would be Big Chill Melvin Robinson's rag doll, just like Luc Longley.

Which ranked ahead of Yale, South Carolina, Texas Tech, Illinois, FAU, Baylor, Texas A&M, Oregon, NC State, Clemson, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Florida and Kentucky. They finished one spot behind Dayton.
True but Indiana State is not playing anywhere near a Big 10 conference schedule, right?

If Blake Ahearn were the coach, that final score would have been 101-42.

I hope the new coach keeps Tate. I think he can be of value to the new coach. If nothing else as introduction to the STL basketball comunity.
No need, we have V-Time!

Parker with Ford was reminiscent of Claggett with Grawer-minutes limited because they 'couldn't defend'. Spoon saw through that with Erwin; perhaps a new coach can convince Parker to stay and we can see what develops
The worst departure since Ricky Frazier!!!

Yep. Good coach. There are some others out there as well that deserve to be on a list. Amir Abdur-Rahim etc…
Hope it’s Schertz—like Spoon, took a moribund MVC program to national prominence. If that falls through, Tony Irons head coach, Pee Wee assistant!

Travis Ford will be our coach for years to come….which in hindsight meant 2023 and 2024.

What makes you think that millionaires do not go broke? It all depends on how much they spend, many think there is no end to their money which is emphatically not the case, not as long as they depend upon a very large salary. You are young, of course, and know nothing about money, but the good times always end. Finally, you should give Ford at least a small level of respect and understanding. He is not having a good time currently. And just so you know, lots of major sports players retire with lots of money and wind up broke, this is not uncommon.
Your absolutely right Old Guy, doing blow and escorts burns a hole in your pocket.

I honestly do not know much about Holtmann other than he got canned this year after starting 12-2 then losing 9 of 11. My 1st pick was Chris Mack and I still would take him but I'm all aboard the Schertz train now. But after hearing Holtmann's name, he has a weirdly similar resume as Mack. Not sure if that is good or bad for Holtmann or Mack. The main similarity is the Blue Bloods do not put up with losing. Go Bills.
Think Chris Mack is way too combative and expensive for SLU to hire him. Then again, that was the case with Majerus.
