  1. The best part of this is that the next 4 games should be very winnable by us, taking us to a 22-2 record. We are doing just fine this year.
  2. Yes sir! we are heading into new records, provided we win the next 4 games.
  3. Agree Crown Candy is very good. However they also have lines outside their door (maybe not in winter, I have not been there when it is cold).
  4. The way I look at the game last night is this: DE had a bad night and, for some reason which is not clear, failed to contribute in his usual manner to the game. As a result SLU struggled against Duquesne but still beat it. The reason we beat them is that there is enough power in the SLU team to make up for the minimal contribution of Evans in this game. Now, let's compare this to the UMass Richmond game last night. UMass' key guy is Chaz Williams who apparently played a very mediocre to bad game last night against Richmond. It is evident that UMass could not make up for the poor contribution of Williams and lost the game. It may also be that Richmond is better than Duquesne, which I do not doubt for a second. Duquesne did put up a great effort last night and came close to defeating us, they played well and deserve recognition for this. Now, will this happen again when we go against Richmond? I do not know with any certainty but doubt it. Let's talk about the effect of last night's game upon our ranking and future play. First, I do not think our national ranking will be affected severely. In the Team rankings scheme we went down from a 115.3 rating before the Duquesne game to a 114.9 this morning (went down from #18 to #19), certainly this is not a deadly blow to our standing in any way you look at it. Second, Evans is most likely to come out of this funk and go back to his normal level of play in future games. I think we will do fine. I still think we will win the next 4 games (Richmond, George Mason, St. Joseph, and LaSalle) to complete our 16 win string before we face VCU 2/15. This does not mean under any stretch of the imagination, that I think VCU will beat us, however I think VCU will be a tougher antagonist than the other four teams prior to VCU.
  5. Agree Glaze played very well last night and fully deserves recognition for his effort.
  6. A win is a win. This was a game where our defense was not up to par and our offense was really poor. We still won it, a win is a win. Now we are 7-0 away, and our win string is up to 12. This game did not make us look good, and it goes to prove that when Evans is shut out of the game we look really shabby. Grandy had a great night, Crawford did fine. Praise the Lord!
  7. One last thing Dr. Gunnie, if you are staying overnight and have a chance of going to any kind of show at the FOX do it. That is a place like no other I have ever seen. Just being able to go inside the FOX for a brief tour of the premises would be a very worthwhile thing to do while you are in town.
  8. I like Triumph grill which is near enough to the arena and should have little or no line. If you or your kids likes motorcycles, they have a small museum of old bikes in the premises with some really interesting pieces. There is no charge for checking the bikes after you eat.
  9. I would think more wins are possible, depending on how good the new feshman class really is and how fast they get integrated into the rotation.
  10. Are you saying this with a positive or with a negative connotation?
  11. I think one of the invisible benefits from having recruits from nationally ranked HS teams comes from having our name in the mix when the next year class starts deciding where to go. Take Whitney Young for example, I know Reynolds mentions SLU and the Billikens (and "Rise of the Billikens") in his tweets, and almost certainly talks about SLU with his friends in the team. When underclass kids from Whitney Young come up to decision time in the future they already have a favorable impression of SLU as an acceptable place to go to, because of Reynolds. I can only see this kind of thing as a build up of good will towards our program among underclass kids in these elite basketball schools. I think the overall effect may be very favorable for SLU in the long run.
  12. It is interesting that this site has 5 A10 programs included in the NCAA brackets: UMass, SLU, GW, VCU, and Dayton.
  13. To estimate the odds you need to know the rules. If all it takes is to say who will win every single game, the odds will be much lower than if they have to estimate the point spread for every game as well. I would think the odds are much higher than Power Ball's either way.
  14. Just read the information in Moytoy's post Monday (4 posts before your Joe_davola) and you will have all the information about the A10 site plus a link and instructions as to how to get to the game streaming for free.
  15. Very nice, just listened to him. Crews comes as a completely straight forward person, praising the kids and underplaying the whole process. It is nice to hear someone talk like that in public nowadays.
  16. Agree, we will see what happens next year... next year.
  17. When talking about Glaze we must remember his contribution in terms of rebounds. This is something he does pretty well, and something that we (the team) does not particularly shine in.
  18. Any talk about bracketology at this time is pure projection and guess work. The closer the conference play gets to the end the more realistic these projections will become. At this time, it does look like we will be going to the NCAA tournament. The actual bracket we get is far from being certain at this time.
  19. I think we have an excellent chance of winning the next 6 games. That would give us 22 wins and 2 losses by 2/08/14 (after the assumed win at La Salle). The remaining games may be tougher for us but we may manage to win a good number of them as well. We will see.
  20. Agree about Crawford, I am glad he is playing and fitting in with the team. I am also very glad about Agbeko. We are going to need these guys next year to carry a lot of weight on their shoulders. I am very happy to see how they are progressing.
  21. We did win by 6, and it was not pretty, and we were not scoring well but we did win. This shows that with our defense we can win even games in which we are not scoring well. Glad to see Agbeko and Crawford both playing and scoring.
  22. That is correct ACE, I fully agree that labels create recruiting barriers.
  23. This discussion of what a mid major is parallels the story of my life. I have always been labelled, as I assume many of you have been, and never considered to be at the same level regardless. Yes, labels are important in their own way. They certainly can be barriers as you say Pistol. However, we are what we are in real terms, label or no label. They will find out one way or the other how good SLU really is. And thank you Wiz for ramming this point home over and over again.
  24. Thank you Pistol a very thorough job. I really enjoyed the interview when I listened to it and enjoyed reviewing your summary of it. Very nicely done, appreciate the effort.
