I've heard some things that would make me question whether he would be a positive or a negative for SLU. Just because a guy is highly ranked does not mean that we should automatically be recruiting him. Other factors come into play other than your Rivals ranking.

I believe that's old news. Rivals already has him as attending Webster Groves.

Don't forget Clagget. I'll be upset with him if his better players don't end up at SLU.

I love being excited about recruiting again. The worst thing that can happen to a college basketball fan is for your program to be so low that you don't care much about recruiting. That's where we were for the last six months before the Ford hire.

+1 Most Americans don't understand what exactly the First Amendment means or what it does. I have seen situations where both sides of an argument misunderstand and misapply the First Amendment.

Also, welcome Coach Macon. I know they don't or shouldn't read this board, but it is tradition.

This looks very promising. One tweet said that he wouldn't have any restrictions on the schools he can contact. I assume that means for being granted his release. I may have missed it in the article, but how many years of eligibility does he have left?

How about around Omaha where Creighton seems to do well. Or Wichita. If we sustain some success, getting local kids will be a huge benefit. There is a lot of talent coming out of St. Louis. I assume we will have to start from the ground up, though. Get kids from wherever and start being competitive. Once that happens, you can supplement your national or Midwest recruiting with St. Louis kids that wouldn't mind staying home if the team is going to be successful. Having both, national and local, is necessary to what we want. It's what Xavier, Gonzaga, Creighton, etc. do to maintain their success.

I was driving on Olive a few days ago and noticed that a traffic light is going up at the Olive Street entrance to the Olive Parking Garage. I assume this is being done to make exiting the garage after a game easier. I took a picture of it, but I don't know how to put a picture on a post. I assume there's some trick to it. Does anyone know?

If he can get Moore, that would be outstanding. However, I worry we are headed down the same road with Moore as we were with Coach Drew. The board sets its expectations way too high on a guy that we may never have a shot at. Then, when Ford does sign some kid, everyone's down on him, because he's not a four star. Until a coach, hopefully Coach Ford, gets us to a level of sustained success, we cannot expect this level of recruit.

Verbal Commits has us as having offers out on three guys for 2017 other than ZM. They are Nick Robinson (6'6" out of Chicago), Aleem Ford (6'7" out of Georgia), and Lorenzo Edwards (6'7" out of Chicago). Does anyone know anything about these guys? Verbal Commits has us down as having made offers, but those offers might be stale at this point.

Whether or not we get this guy, I like that we are on this list. I know all it means is that we contacted him, but that fact makes me feel better than what was happening before.

Watching that video caused a couple thoughts to pop into my head: 1. Clearly that was T. Boone money buying that situation. That was much nicer than most pro teams. 2. We would have to give the team Lorenzini's to have enough room to replicate that situation. 3. I hope the 4 star players that Ford was getting to come there were coming due to his outstanding recruiting skills and not simply because they saw that locker room and said "I'm home!"

The Hines scholly needs to remain in play. If Ford can find three quality guys willing to come here, he needs to use it to bring all three in. If he can only get two or one, then give it back to Hines.

I agree, but I believe he was commenting on the few that thought we were going to get Drew or Stallings or that we should go after Jacobsen. His assessment that we had unrealistic expectations was not accurate in that it did not reflect what many on the board were feeling. I only agreed with him with respect to those that thought we should get one of those guys.

Also interesting that Dayton has a greater value to it than Xavier.

Interesting that Mizzou is valued higher than Florida.

He was right. Those that thought we were getting Drew or Stallings or Jacobsen weren't being realistic. That being said, Bernie needs to stop reading message boards, or at the very least realize that message board represent only a small portion of a fan base. I like listening to Bernie, but he needs to stop using the "my opinions vs. the message boards opinions" crutch to drum up controversy for his opinions and his show. He's entertaining to listen to without that. I always thought of him as the anti sports shock jock type.

I was a big Miles supporter at the beginning, and I see each transfer as a missed opportunity for these kids to show what they can do under a coach that is not Jim Crews. However, with that being said, Coach Ford's special talent is supposed to be recruiting. So, each opening is a new opportunity for him to do what he does best.

One interview by Crews where he says "no, I wanted to coach that team next year and into the future, but they didn't give me the chance," and any PR you did is worthless. Then the new coach would have been measured by the success Crews had in that first year. Comparing the new coach to that year would have already, by now, resulted in the new coach being fired.

Coach Ford went to the Final Four to assemble a staff. Why have we not heard anything yet about any hires? Is it possible they decided to wait until after the championship game to make announcements, and we'll hear something today?

Also, this is another indication that Drew never intended to come to SLU. He has a choice between two decent positions. One an ACC school and the other an SEC school. We were never in the mix. I think we were waiting to hear an official "No" from him while the NIT was going on. His people probably dragged it out to keep his name swirling in the media around openings so that they could chum the water for the job he wanted to take (a BCS school job). His people knew something would open up and it did. He probably could have been in the mix for Pitt as well.

ACC vs. SEC. I can see a coach saying that the ACC is the league to be in. Kids obviously want to play in the ACC. Seven ACC teams made the Sweet 16 this year. Only one SEC team made it. I wouldn't say that Vanderbilt is the obvious choice.

I would like to see what Jolly can do in a different system with a new coach. I think he's not as bad as his whipping boy image on this board.
