  1. This is a GREAT promotion. Very well organized! I hope the cost is not prohibitive so we can see something similar every year.
  2. Here is a pretty good background article from 2007 about development in Midtown Alley. The bulk of development has been done by private developers with little help from SLU (though they all recognize the SLU campus as a major anchor). In some cases developers have had plans to rehab buildings before SLU bought them and leveled them for parking lots. http://www.riverfronttimes.com/2007-06-20/news/rebuilt-to-suit/ You can do your own research googling some of the major players - like Jassen Johnson - for more recent articles. In general, it is private money and vision that is revitalizing Midtown not SLU (with Steve Smith's SLU relationship being the excption rather than the rule).
  3. Agreed, Cowboy. The clips that are on the site were uploaded 5 and 6 days ago, so it can take a couple days. I was hoping someone else might have access earlier.
  4. Is anyone a subscriber that can report on what Rick said at the media teleconference? i checked the A/10 website but they still have last week's audio. http://saintlouis.scout.com/a.z?s=437&p=2&c=1162429&ssf=1&RequestedURL=http%3a%2f%2fsaintlouis.scout.com%2f2%2f1162429.html
  5. "Saturday's game will be televised by CBS Sports Network Regional and will be picked up on several different outlets. In St. Louis, Charter subscribers can view the game on CCIN (Channel 3 or 8). CSN New England is also picking up the game, available on Dish Network 435 and DirecTV 630. The game will also be televised on cable outlets CSN Philadelphia, Comcast Sports Southeast and Cox Rhode Island."
  6. I don't really have a strong view either way on the Pevely building but I did find this Biondi quote more than a little petulant: “What I forsee, if you don’t approve our request, is that we would have to shut down our medical school and find property in west county,” noting that 35 years ago, Maryville offered up land for the university to move west. Earlier, Biondi cited the school’s record of renovating and restoring historic buildings and also highlighted the law school’s impending move to downtown. http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2012/02/22/planning-commission-approves-pevely-buildings-demolition/
  7. Does CBS Sports "Regional" mean it will be on CBS Sports Network locally or do you need multiple CBS Sports channels to find it?
  8. +1 Even if they hit 33% from three we would have a lot more work to do offensively.
  9. "But I second sshoe's "small chance" comment. I'm okay with the two, as long as Xavier finishes fourth. Let X and Temple have at it before we see either in AC. Plus if Umass finishes third, I'd like to erase one of our record's blemishes." AGREED! It would be great to see both Umass and Temple again. Maybe we could run into New Mexico again, as well. Letting Rickma game plan twice for a team is always a good thing.
  10. I think Richmond ran a pretty effective D against us last night. It was tough to get Conk the ball. I really liked, it in the first half, when they used Cody at the foul line to relay the ball into him. I think this is something Rob should work on over the next couple weeks ( I think he was yanked in the second half after blowing 2 passes to Brian). When we face teams with bigger guards, or guards that are really good at ball pressure, it would be nice to have our bigs comfortable passing it in to Conk.
  11. By miles, the best pep band I have ever heard. Not even close. Very consistent in their attendance, even during "lean yeas". Thank you, Band! Thank you! Now if we could just get them to play the theme from Cowboy Be-Bop....
  12. Iggy, you're not having your usual, pre-Billiken game, Mizzou mixer?
  13. Sorry, I can't help you with extras. I'd recommend you buy what is available and then continue your hunt for better seats. It will be easier to unload two tickets (if someone comes through with better seats) than find two if it sells out.
  14. I'm confused. How do we go from "#3 St. Louis vs. Charlotte/Duquesne" to "St. Louis/GW/La Salle" ?
  15. Other threads show there is a group going to the Fieldhouse to watch tonight.
  16. http://thedp.com/index.php/article/2011/01/st._josephs_mascot_wings_it "Required to flap whenever wearing the suit, the new Hawk had to prepare for a 30-game schedule with roughly 3,500 flaps per contest." http://offthebench.nbcsports.com/2011/02/21/temple-owls-fans-hold-funeral-for-st-joes-hawk-that-allegedly-never-dies/ This was pretty creative for a student section.
  17. Setting aside if the Bills benefited in the long run, as a fan of the game of basketball the refs were just awful. The first half took almost an hour with 22? fouls called and no consistency. Here is a website that tracks stats on refs. Maybe one of the number crunchers on the board could tell if any of this is useful: http://statsheet.com/mcb/referees/tony-crisp
  18. Man, I wish I still had my "Spoonball" antenna ball.
  19. I saw Charlie at Balabans one night having dinner with his wife. This was not long before he "retired". When they finished up, I went over an introduced myself and told him how much I enjoyed the Billikens. About 3 weeks later, I saw him in a completlety different setting and said hi. He answered and addressed me by name!!! Blew me away he could remember my name.
  20. Here is a link to write up from Umass: http://dailycollegian.com/2012/01/26/men%E2%80%99s-hoops-hosts-surging-billikens/
  21. Best post I've seen in awhile. Glad to hear they are working on some zones. The more looks they have available, the easier it is to stop an opposing team's run and it adds flexibility to adapt on the fly in the tournament.
