  1. Totally getting behind the recent infusion of Kmed... still able to make me laugh after an L.
  2. People (re: casual fans) are generally dumb when it comes to a number of things, basketball being one they don't even really care about. "Dramatically"? How good did people really think SLU was? They saw a ranking and said, "Well shoot, I'm from St. Louis/I went there, that's pretty nifty!" SLU could reach the Elite 8 one year, be horrific the next, and it would be back to square 1. That's why they are the "casual fan". I don't think any of the national experts are about to go running -- because they know who we just beat, and when we beat them relative to this game. I knew I could come here for a night of the-sky-is-falling posts. What if, and bear with me here, this loss benefited the team in the long run? They don't get so full of themselves, buckle down by rolling through the December slate, and are hungry to get back into the rankings by beating NM/dominating the early A-10 sched. If we lose another game we should win, THEN I might start to re-evaluate what I've seen thus far. But I think this is a tournament team, and when we're hitting our shots, a tough out for anyone with our defense.
  3. This is the road setting we were scared of.... good one, guys.
  4. Arena looks like my HS gym, the Panther Dome. (O'Fallon stand up)
  5. Watching Conkilin miss what seemed like a hundred layups his first two years here, I never thought I would be relishing his Senior season like this. Not that it matters now, but who replaces this guy down low next year? Just amazing to see.
  6. Katz has been consistently pimping the BIlls since the Washington game, great to see from arguably the biggest NCAA guy on ESPN's roster.
  7. Lyons having a really nice game, and now tu with a big 3. X up 5, 3 to play.. taking control.
  8. Not sure if anyone already scoped this, but a great interview from last Wednesday with the Man, the Myth, the Rickma at the 28 minute mark. Doesn't sound like much of a Garnett fan... http://espn.go.com/e...=7275271&s=espn
  9. "If they have any sense in St. Louis, they are counting their blessings, and not just the basketball fans." +1,000 Great piece. One of my most memorable days of undergrad was finding out Majerus had been hired, probably because it was during the afternoon.
  10. Not sure if it's related, but having the same problem on SI.com & foxsports.com as well. In the words of Lee Corso, "Ah, F*ck it!" -- *Throws Billken Head On* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOBryz4sbm8&feature=player_embedded#
  11. "Time to call in Omar Gonzalez. Not sure what more there is to say about Gonzalez's continuing omission from the national team after Tim Ream joined fellow center back Michael Orozco Fiscal in having brutal games in a U.S. jersey over the past week. Orozco Fiscal hasn't shown that he can play at the international level. Ream had at least provided flashes of that potential in the past year, but he has suffered through a miserable year with New York and the national team, including letting his man Jaime Ayoví inside to head home the winning goal here on Tuesday. Ream and Orozco Fiscal need some time to get back on track with their club teams before any more U.S. call-ups." 12. Bills Tim Ream was briefly trending nation-wide on Twitter (getting absolutely hammered) after he entered the game vs. Ecuador and allowed an 87' header to, in-effect, lose the game. (Though I hear it also helps to score goals in these type of competitions). Alexi Lalas on the post-game commented that marking your man in the box is "defending 101", but also said he still likes Ream and wouldn't draw any long-term conclusions from the error... A twitter search of "Tim Ream" is pretty brutal right now -- http://twitter.com/#!/search/tim%20ream
  13. Butler also got Rosey Jones from O'Fallon (IL), looks like they are doing work in the area. I love Rick as much as the next guy, but I can see why an 18 year old would rather suit up for Stevens.
  14. Love this. All of this conference realignment makes this season even more important for SLU. It would help to be viewed as a quality/on-the-rise program from the outsiders perspective, a school others would be proud to compete with year in & year out. Though looking at this list of schools I think it's safe to say SLU would go in as the least regarded (sans DePaul, but Chicago > St. Louis) among the others... If this "Basketball Only" conference were to form, SLU CANNOT miss out, or fear being relegated to the Missouri Valley, or worse. We must be appealing.
  15. University of Ottawa has an article up previewing the game tomorrow night vs. the Gee-Gee's, couple of great quotes regarding Majerus. http://www.geegees.ca/node/52&sid=13
  16. Quin Snyder recently interviewed for the Minnesota T'wolves vacancy. I found this humorous. http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/26283066/30296981
  17. Bill Simmons' new website Grantland.com had a USMT article (by Bill Barnwell, formerly of Football Outsiders) today which had some great things to say about Ream, and some not so great things to say about Bradley. I think it's dead on the money - http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/6707994/hard-lessons "Twenty-four-year-old center back Tim Ream is the next great American export to Europe, capable of turning defense into attack in a moment with his potentially brilliant distribution from the back. After Ream gave away a penalty in the Panama match, Bradley benched him for the rest of the tournament, even turning to Bornstein ahead of Ream in the final."
  18. +1 Seriously, maybe start with just contributing something to the discussion next time billiken4life5... baby steps.
  19. I'm going to drink soooo much Kool-Aid tonight. Also, Go Mavs.
