  1. I can second the excellent PW Pizza reference. Try the pulled pork pizza. Delicious.
  2. I checked out The Good Pie a couple months after it opened and found it to be a really unpleasant experience. Took forever & food was just decent. However, have heard it has gotten much better. But I'm having a hard time going back after finding it was owned by a X grad
  3. I don't understand how anyone can question Thicks loyalty. The guy is a MODERATOR on Billikens.com. Man, tough crowd.
  4. Right. SLU hospital is owned by Tenent Healthcare.
  5. I live in the city. I couldn't give a ###### about the hospital. In fact, SLU hospital is a "sh*thole." I'm not sure anyone is disputing that SLU hasn't been good for the area. Of course SLU has played a large part in Midtown's revival. But to say that SLU is the only reason is just dumb. Furthermore, to build off Bills10 point - I've lived in the city for a long time (ex: South City, SLU, & now Soulard). I've never had any bad experiences and wouldn't consider St. Louis a bad place to live. Sounds like you've had some bad experiences. That sucks. I would continue, but it looks like Bonwich was able to show you the ropes already.
  6. The old, old Grand Bridge was actually awesome. I'm sure you've seen a picture of it. Was really impressive.
  7. Well, I'm really glad you aren't running things then.
  8. Fair enough. Good discussion. Still confused on this stereotype though.
  9. Well at least we agree on one thing. Nothing like a suburban campus out in the middle of Midtown. Throw up a few sculptures, and a tall black fence, and that would be the quintessential SLU development. Yes, they deserve the right to develop the building...subject, of course, to the restrictions that come with the property. SLU was fully aware (I hope, at least) that the building was on the National Registry. Big Bad SLU can't just come in and circumvent the system because they have other plans for the building. If SLU didn't want to deal with the preservation issues, then they should not have bought the building. Rick Yackey previously owned the building and had the intent to turn it into apartments/condos. Unfortunately the economy went in the tank as soon as he bought it and he was no longer able to go through with his plans. Or, people who don't own the building can make their feelings known at the preservation meeting - which is exactly what they did. Citizens didn't force anything. All they did was express their opinion. The idea that "well they don't own the building, so they have no say" doesn't work in a city. I'm a soon to be two time graduate of SLU. My entire family is affiliated with SLU. I opposed the demo. Do I still fit into your stereotypes?
  10. The building was shut down in 2008. 2008! It's not like the building has been sitting empty forever. http://www.fox2now.com/ktvi-pevely-dairy-fire-032209,0,7176584.story
  11. Can't wait to see what MIzzou's Chemistry is like next year with Earnest Ross. Jabari Brown, and Keion Bell! Obviously all high character guys.
  12. NH: Pete Thamel, New York Times reporter tweeted that Mizzou and New Mexico State were two possibilities for Birch. NMSU has a couple of Canadians on their team (including Sim Bullhar) and Mizzou has a Canadian or two signed for next year.
  13. If you think SLU is the only reason Midtown is growing, I suggest you head to Midtown sometime soon and check it out. Personally, I'm just waiting for that new law school to be built. Nice to know that Biondi can find $75 million to build a new medical office, but can't find the money for a new law school. SLU tore down two buildings on Lindell b/c the new law school was coming. What is there now? Yep, a GRAVEL parking lot. Nothing says Urban development like a gravel parking lot. There is no doubt that SLU has done a lot of good in the area. However, they have had a lot of F'ups. They shouldn't get free reign over the area.
  14. Justin Martin (Top 50 recruit) was also ruled in eligible this year for Xavier. Tough couple days. I can't imagine what it's like for Xavier, losing those 2 for the season. Hopefully they can recover.
  15. This is just a ridiculous statement. Everyone knows the trick to get into Lacledes when you are underage is to bring as many slam pieces as possible. Athlete or no athlete.
  16. Except for that time that Boise beat TCU....
  17. The point is we will never have the opportunity to see who is correct.
  18. I would love to eat a Slinger with Rickma. In fact, I think that's my new life goal.
  19. I don't like the idea of Willie continuing to talk about this story without an attorney.
  20. I would take that bet. How exactly is Evans a great fit at the 3? He can't shoot. I'm not saying he's going to play a lot at the 4, or even that he is going to play a lot this year. However, when he does play I think he will play a hybrid 3/4. He may end up as a great player, but for this year, I see him as being a spark or situational type player. He is a high energy player that will find his niche.
  21. Uh....no. Evans will play at the 4 sometimes.
