With regards to the MVC. I agree that it is not the direction the program is heading, and yet I am an MVC fan in general. I would enjoy SLU basketball a lot more if it were in the MVC (more schools I care about). For those that agree with me, would any of the potential conferences be more enjoyable than watching SLU in the MVC? [This is not a debate about what is the better overall conference, simply a question about what you would enjoy more as a fan.]

Or has he? I think for this team he is pretty much an average rebounder.

Here is what I do not understand. After what the Big N (Big 10) did to Mizzou, why hasn't anyone carried the argument that Missouri, and the St. Louis/Kansas City markets, should boycott the Big N on its networks? It is completely warranted, they used Mizzou to get to Nebraska, and left Mizzou hanging with their entire conference mad at them. We should all hate the Big N.

They can't be happy about it, but it just another step in NBC juicing everything they can out of this relationship, use ND to actually get people to watch Versus. Although, Tom Hammond will still stand as the worst atrocity forced on ND Football.

I doubt there are any fans left after last Saturday. Although, there is no support for the article's main premise, that NBC is not making bank off of its ND deal; aside from the Army game, which had to be one of the least watched games on the year. And why does it meander into the NCAA v Oklahoma antitrust suit, kind of off topic; I think the writer became married to his research.

It is not just down low that our bigs apparently have issues. Tyson Hinz, 6'6", power forward.

I think this team showed exactly who they are. They are inconsistent. We do not have an inside presence that can score at 50% or better on a regular basis. Without that, we are totally reliant on the scoring from our guards and our outside shot, which leads to inconsistency. The ceiling for this team is still incredibly high, but if we go through a bad spot in the season, then we will find the floor is really low.

Since no one else wants to say it. This was disgraceful.

Why isn't the whole game online somewhere? We obviously have rights, or no arguments on rights to do it, and someone was taking video.

This kid is a stud. He reminds me of Dwayne Evans. He could play the 3 while DE plays the 2 next year. We would look like a Big 10 team.

I agree. He would have to do a rebuilding job at most other jobs he could take (eg. He didn't like the pressure of a USC). So it is either start over or keep it going here.

Either you know you are wrong about the relative TV ratings of MVC schools versus A10 schools in St. Louis, or you are just crazy. I am not going to dignify this with further argument, I was attempting to be conciliatory in my previous post, but there is no debate.

I disagree. I think St. Louis is a strong market for MVC games. Saint Louisans definitely watch B12 and B10 games. I would bet A10 games are popular in PA and OH because multiple schools are located in those states. Further, there is probably a solid alumni base for A10 schools throughout major cities in the Northeast. However, neither of us have the Neilsen ratings to back up our statements. Either way, the important point is that SLU is not in a position it can be cavalier about a shake-up in the A10.

We are also a new member. If the A10 had to get rid of some of its members, it would really consider what schools are vital to maintaining its fan base. The A10 really does not command any TV sets in St. Louis, and it has been six years since SLU joined. Unless the Bills are playing, no one is watching the A10. Majerus could also retire tomorrow, so I doubt the A10 would care very much about him. Are we a better program than most? Yes. Will it matter? Maybe, maybe not.

Be careful what you wish for.

It is hard to draw a lot from the video, but one thing stood out. Cody Ellis is a lot faster/quicker this year. There was a lot of talk last season about Cody being a wing, but he just was not fast enough (or in shape) to play it, now it looks a lot more feasible. That could add a completely different dynamic to the team. Cory also looked good. More confident. It is nice to see Manning dunk it, but I would rather hear how he did standing up against loe/conklin/remekun on the block. Did he get pushed out of his position, or did he push people out of position. He looks like he has a strong base (big legs). Did he or Remekun score down low in a one-on-one set? Does Rob Loe even set up underneath? Did he display any post improvement?

So, who was running the full court drill in the video, Loe or Conklin? Manning looked big, but kind of slow. I loved the drill with Manning and CR at the end, it really summed up what our offense looks like down low on a bad day.

It seems strange Mizzou does not want to have a home and home against SLU considering their need to remain strong in the STL market. One of the reasons they were rebuffed by the Big N last year was because Illinois apparently has enough strength in the STL market to make Mizzou a negligible difference in TV coverage for the Big N network. So, considering that Illinois has a strong need to make greater inroads in the STL market, why not establish a home and home against the Illini?
