  1. We have a lot of soccer in the current University News. Here's the links: 'A new era of soccer' by Andrew Bush Vetern Bills mentor, lead young club by Chris Ackels McGinty arrives with big goals by Brea Irvin Sweetin looks for big year by Derrick Neuner (me) Meet Tim Ream, the big deal you've never heard of by Derrick Neuner (me) Feedback, as always, is greatly appreciated. Enjoy!
  2. It's a 6-year doctorate program now, actually. Thaaaaat's me!
  3. I've seen the teaser billboards for this year. THEY. ARE. WICKED!!!!!
  4. A little birdie told me that the home opener is Friday, November 12, against the Austin Peay State University Governors. Let the ROAR return!
  5. Hearing from several people this is pretty close to happening. Not sure if they will get it done in time for an official release this afternoon, but hopefully we'll hear something today or early next week.
  6. Yup you're right. I blame Google. But I have heard this rumbling as recently as the middle of June. I think we all pondered if SLU would get something with UK as soon as Cal was hired; that's probably where the TT blog comes in..
  7. He blogged it here: http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu...eb8fd3c5e3.html I had heard the same thing about the same time, but didn't know how serious the talks really were. I've also heard some other big schools that would get fans fired up, but again, not sure how serious those talks are.
  8. TT speculates, and I've also heard, that the huge scheduling surprise is UK.
  9. Bold move bringing in Cotton. I love it. GO BILLS!!!
  10. Kevin and Trent were at the Simon Rec today scrimmaging with the team today, via several sources. Twitter: benariweixlmann Just saw @SLU_Billikens Mens BB team plus Trent Meachem and Kevin Lisch scrimmaging at Simon Rec. #GunningForTop25
  11. I think the pods were also meant to help cut down on travel costs (though it's obvious that regardless of who we play, SLU will have one of the larger travel expense sums). I know that the NCAA has been encouraging that, and notice that we are playing the three western-most teams in our conference. In any case, I'm liking the home-home with XU and UD. I also like that we have Duquesne in our pod, because I think we can get two solid wins over them. With XU and UD, we may go 4-0 or 0-4.
  12. FOX 2 had a piece on Barnett tonight on the 9PM show; Porter was on 101 this afternoon with Rammer talking about getting Jake on the team; I talked to Jake yesterday afternoon, will have more on that soon.
  13. Burwell said today he thought that SLU would jump to the Big East once it went Jesuit following the football re-alliance. I could see that happening. He said that the Big 12 and Big East will get feasted on (that's what it looks like) and that they will be recruiting. He just said it as a teaser at the end of their Mizzou talk, so he didn't give expansion teams for the BE, but I'm on par with what he's thinking.
  14. From TT: http://interact.stltoday.com/blogzone/bill...years-schedule/
  15. Not necessary, but I think a side-effect. I agree with you, in part, that this latest "moving day" has me a bit apprehensive. However, I would have to say that I think I don't think we are at a net loss here; I'm big supporters of Jordan and Smith, but those two men deserve to see the floor a lot more than they would here. I also have faith in Majerus and Moser to bring in the best talent available to them. It's hard to judge Jett before he hits the floor, so I will reserve judgment until that day, and I would only suggest that everyone try to take a step back and let things unfold. Maybe this will prove to be the wrong move for the program, but there's no way of knowing that at this moment in time.
  16. Bernie says it's not happening, or at least is not as far along as this report suggests. Also, notice that the story was taken down..
  17. That link doesn't work for me. Any other way to see the story?
  18. I'm sure the AD/SLU is considering all options, but billiken_roy is right about Paul not being on the Presidential, and so far as I know, not being allowed to suddenly join it. Also am pretty certain SLU can't hand out partial athletic scholarships in basketball. It's an interesting situation, that's for sure.
  19. Senior first baseman swings a big bat By: Derrick Neuner http://www.unewsonline.com/?p=12150
  20. Well I took luxury with phrasing, referring "several times" to several weeks. Times, in this instance, refers to weekly updates of RPI charts. Which, yes, it was ranked above every BCS conference except the Big East, ACC, and Big 10. I believe it was even ranked above the Big 10 or ACC one week. And even when the A10 was outranked, it was not by much. That's what I have in my notes anyway... hopefully I'm close! Next year, maybe I'll write down the RPIs too.
  21. My latest column for the UNews... http://www.unewsonline.com/?p=11921
  22. Not sure how to read into the women's program. Shimmy has been treading water for some time now, but in all my conversations with her, she seems like a very able coach. I know she was dealt some major setbacks last season, but I am yet to understand why the women's program has been mediocre under Shimmy's reign.
  23. Here's to hoping somebody wises up and inks Moser to a long-term deal. While I'm not convinced that Moser is the X/O guy we want, I have no doubt that he will learn all that and more under Majerus, and he's already a hell of a recruiter. I definitely think the fact that Rick named him Associate HC speaks volumes to his position in the program. I also feel strongly that Moser is the guy we want to help move this program forward; however, I think it's a bit too soon to pass judgment on whether or not we would want him to be heir to the throne. If Rick had to, God forbid, resign tomorrow, then yes, I'd take Moser as the head coach. But I think as time goes on, the SLU job could open up to more seasoned and proven talent. Who knows? But I agree that Moser is not a coach you let leave easily.
