  1. People hate Duke for the same reason people hate ND football or Yankee baseball. They have a long tradition of winning that has gotten them over exposed. People get tired of all the love Duke receives for national media. Duke could have a top 50 team and the rankings come out and would have them in the top 5 because of the tradition. I like Duke but I get why a lot of people dont like them. As for Beal, I may be nuts or drinking to much SLU juice but I think if he was a class or two younger this is a recruit they could of landed. Its still to early in the rebuilding process for a recruit like him to committ to SLU but I really believe in the next couple years SLU will have a chance to bring in 5 star local recruits.
  2. I get the frustration but ND is a solid solid team. Its not like they lost a close one to some krap team like in years past. Im excited about how they played this weekend. It was the first road games (kind of) against 2 good teams that both have potential all americans. I think in years past they would of gotten worked in these games even when they had more experince. To be honest I was expecting them to get steam rolled in atleast one of the games. Ive been worried about how they will handle conference road games and those worries have been slightly removed. A win would of been nice but all in all Im happy with the way they played. The backcourt wont stay cold all season and each game they will continue to improve. I know its early but if they can get into the A-10 tourney I think they could be a dangerous sleeper team. Not the greatest outcome but a solid effort. GO BILLS.
  3. I dont know much about how the NCAA and testing works but it seems kind of unfair to hold a foreign player back for not doing well on an american test.
  4. 3-7 from the line. they have got to get better at FT it may not have happened yet and may not happen today but eventually poor free throw shooting is going to burn them
  5. Thats a pretty good sign when you rely so heavily on the 3 miss all of them and still only trail by 3. Plus throw in that the floor leader was out nearly the entire half and things are looking pretty good for the second. Hopefully the youngsters got the on the raod jitters out of the way and come out on fire in the second
  6. I was waiting for the credits to the departed to start rolling across the video board
  7. Ugh! does Mizzou get more coverage than SLU in the post? Probably But you have to realize that there are more Mizzou alumni in the STL region than SLU alumni. Plus the post is received in other areas outside of the STL region. Of course MU is going to get more coverage. As for the CS lack of enthusiasm photo....well I was at the game and at the time of the photo I was probably sitting down not clapping too. After the play was made, even though it didnt work out the way we hoped, is when I gave CS his hustle appreciation applause. As that play is going on fans are waiting to see the outcome of the play.
  8. It doesnt really matter to me what they do. However, I think having a showy intro has got to help recruiting. When the Bills have these 16/17 year old kids in to watch the game, I would imagine they are much more impressed with what is done now than if they just said called the starters names and called it a day.
  9. I agree to a point. Sure the dome can be dull at times but during winning seasons its hard to top the atmosphere of an NFL game. Also there are only 8 NFL home games compared to 15-20(?) Bills home games. And when it comes down to it the NFL is more of a made for TV sport while NCAA hoops (or any NCAA sporting event) cant be topped live.
  10. True. But that was the first Rams game Ive been to since the playoff game in NO, and ill be at all the reamaing Bills game.
  11. I left midway through the second half and headed down to the dome for the rams game. I never have the oppurtunity to go to Rams games so for me it was a no brainer. Im sure alot of Bills fans are in the same boat in that they attend almost every Bills game so missing on doesnt seem like a big deal.
  12. attended my first game when I was 5 and this will be my 25th year of going to games. Except for a 4 year from 98-02 stretch that I was at SEMO actually.
  13. What makes it even more frustrating with KC is that he isnt missisng by much. Every shot seems to roll around the rim a few times and bounce out. He's right on but its just not falling. I have a feeling that when he gets one to fall he will go on a huge run.
  14. MIzzou and SLU should play every year. Id like to see all the state schools play each other in a kind of non conference tourny. As for the SLU MU bashing I find that pretty entertaining. I never hear any MU fans bashing SLU but I do hear a lot of SLU fans attacking Mizzou for bashing SLU. It comes off as SLU fans have an inferiority complex. SLU fans are so worried about MU looking down on SLU that they actually begin to see something that isnt there. Im 30 years old and have been going to SLU games for 25 years. Most of my friends attended MU and many times throughout the season these MU grads are the guys I take to the SLU games. They all root for SLU and hope they do well. My father has been going to SLU games for over 40 years and is always bitching about the damn MU fans talking down on SLU. I try to tell him he's crazy but he just wont hear it. I listen to alot of sports talk radio and never hear MU fans calling in to bash SLU. But as soon as a bad thing is said about SLU somebody else will call in, and istead of addressing the issue, start going off about how MU fans are ###### and dont show SLU any respect. Its odd to me how such a great program like SLU is so concerned about what MU thinks.
  15. I heard some of it too and Im not so sure it was MU fans bashing. I think besides the hardcore fans most of the people in SLU dont know enough of what SLU is trying to do. They look at the paper and see how they looked bad against St Ambrose and how the are predicted to finish in the bottom of the A-10. The people calling into the shows see this not as a re-building year but as another bad year for SLU. These people think the A-10 is a terrible conference and dont realize how tough of a division it is to play in. Especially with a team of all FR/SOPH. The A-10 may not have the super stars that the power conferences have but what they do have is depth and experince, something that SLU will be lacking making it very hard to have a great season. In the next year or two these will be the people trying to get into the sold out chaffietz while we are laughing at them from the inside. RM is basically starting a team from scratch but the non fans want the instant gratification and when the team is loosing they feel the need to ***** even though they dont know what they are talking about. And good or bad it was nice to finally here some SLU talk on local radio.
  16. wow alot of opptimists here. After sitting through the 2 exh. games I think this is going to be a long hard season. Id go with 10-20. as bad as that may seem i dont think its terrible considering the team only has frosh and soph. this is the epitome of a re-building year and its going to be ugly at times, but its going to lead to a strong team after experincing the growing pains this year. top scorer KM 28
  17. I get it. Its all about the money and thats fine. But I can guarntee you that more people would watch a St. Mary's or Creighton play a bcs school in the hopes of seeing that upset than people who are going to watch Wisconsin or Arizona. With the big named bubble schools you know what you are going to get. They may win that first game, but they are going to lose the next one. When you have mid majors playing you never know, they could be the next GW and go all the way to the final four. Did the NCAA forget how much hype they put into Stephen Curry's run last year? Arizona isnt going to do that but St. Marys may have.
  18. Tyler Griffey is going to give the finger to the Illini and stay home to play for SLU. You heard it here first you will never here it again
  19. Iwas born in 78 so my memory doesnt go back to far. But could these two be the best SLU players to never play postseason?
  20. I think the main think with lossing on the road is relying on so many freshman. Most of them have never played in atmospheres like this, now they have that experince. So with these guys coming back with knowing what it takes to win on the road will help. I know they will still rely on alot of freshman but I dont think the raod atmosphere with bother them as much. I could be wrong but I would imagine the Aussie guys have played in college like atmosphers before and with a year of practice under his belt Femi John should be prepared as well. Im still not sure if right now Im being overly optamistic to get me through another tournamentless year or if I really believe this.........Ill let you know how I feel in May
  21. So these young college students just spent the last 6 months working their butts off. Im sure the non-student athlete gets to enjoy more of a typical college experince. Im not sayinig these guys have it bad they get an education for free and to travel acorss the country (or at least travek to the east.) Now, your season is over you have a day left of springbreak, when many of your classmates are getting ripped and laid in FLordia or Mexico. The way I see it, they are in Atlantic city with 10 friends and no responsibilities for the next 3 days. I say RM heads home to his old lady and allows these guys to party like 18-22 y/o college kids do. I know I would of had a blast in A city durring spring break when I was in college. So how bout it Rick, cut the guys some slack and let them go out get drunk, knock up some strippers, and party like the rest of their age group is right now. Im kidding about this. But I would like to party in atlantic city for a weekend
  22. I think Tommy kind of transformed himself into a poor mans scottie pippen. He could get his shots if he wanted to but felt running the offense helped the team more.
  23. This has nothing to do with the coaching selection just a quick story. I went to SEMO and they won the OVC when I was there in 98. The first round of the tourney they had to play LSU and Strollemeyer Swift. The game was during SEMO spring break and me and about 20 of my buddies were down in Flordia. The hotel we stayed in was packed with KY, UI, Ole Miss, Mississippi fans, and then our group from tiny SEMO. The game was close and we were going nuts and everyone was looking at us like we were crazy rooting for this little team from Cape. By the end of the first half though we had converted basically the entire hotel into, at the time, Indian fans. They had a poolbar with a patio that had big screen TV's outside. By the end of the game there were easily over two hundred people out there rooting for SEMO. Then with SEMO up one with about 3 seconds on the clock....................Swift took it to the rack and made a lay-up to win the game as time expired. It was such a downer, all we could do was go to numerous beach bars get wasted and look at hot chick in thongs. As it turns out, Being in FLordia on spring break gets you over a loss pretty quick
  24. Hmm? not quite sure what I think of this. I guess im glad that a coach still cares about student-athletes actually being students but I would of liked to see an extra game. most likely, It didnt matter I dont think they would of gotten an invite anyway
