  1. This is great. They've been trying to cut to a commercial for 5 minutes!!
  2. Didn't know that one, thanks. Agreed. Unless you are talking about the Ed Jones Dome which still has no charm after 15 years. But then again, the Rams don't care what the fans think. I think Chaifetz is pretty darn good now and a few small touches will make it great.
  3. I thought the Woolworth Building was just rehabbed and occupied.
  4. This isn't a NCAA team. The freshman front-men are too green, inconsistent, and just plain sub-par right now. Can't we just accept that? There is no reason to freak out or get upset with the whole program for not being a tournament team this year. It was unrealistic to expect they would be. NIT or CBI, that is a different story. Just enjoy the ride and appreciate TLIII and KL while you still can.
  5. The tv crew in this video is right. Nothing dirty. In fact, I'd have called a charge on Xavier.
  6. We can still say that the Bills are undefeated IN REGULATION at the jewel of Midtown.
  7. Jim Holder was the PA announcer tonight. Had a more professional and less homer bent to his delivery. You could tell he was looking up players names at times (first calling PE "#10" before pulling the last name). He also called 2 pointers 3s a few times (for those of you who assume Guy Phillips is the only person who could make a mistake).
  8. The atmosphere was indeed great tonight. Though I think the smaller crowds at the Kent State and BC games were more "into it". There were a lot of casual fans there tonight not really watching the game, just drinking their beer. That will always be the case but I hope we start converting some of these folks into real fans. Even the back half of the student section didn't seem really into the game until the last 10 min. SLU did win so I am not going to complain much but I feel that the freshman forwards really did show that they have a long way to go tonight. -Willie was getting pushed around all night. -BT still looks lost on defense to me. His failing to get out on a perimeter shooter cost us more than once. -As much as I loved the run Conklin went on, he has to work on not getting these stupid fouls. As coach Moser said after the game, "Five fouls in less than 18 min!?!" Don't get me wrong, I love these guys. There is just a long way to go. Anyone notice a bit more zone defense tonight? GW scored a wide open trey right away. Bet we won't be seeing much more of that.
  9. Then you weren't around for the Lady Bills game. Wow, I don't know who that guy was but if he is Guy's backup....ick.
  10. It was something of a late arriving crowd. Five minutes before the game it looked like they'd play in front of about 500 people. But a few minutes in the crowd looked about as big as it was Wednesday night which was 5000+. Student section was all but empty which if it ever is to be expected this would be the night being after finals and the weekend before Christmas. The band still had a full group which was nice. There were a lot of families and little kids there.
  11. A lot of people around here like the MVC since we are in the center of MVC-country and the conf-tourney is here each year. Of course if we did get in the MVC they'd probably move the tournament. The MVC has certainly had its moments with some great years by SIUC and Creighton and these happened while the A-10 was down. But with Xavier, Temple, UMass etc back on the way up (IMHO) I think the A-10 will start to show it is still ahead as a mid-major conference. The commissioner of the A-10 has said that they are not looking to expand right now. But there are plenty around here who think that is where SLU belongs. The people I've read who seem to be "in-the-know" say that SLU is waiting for the Big East to eventually implode. The idea being that Xavier, SLU, St. Joe's, and some of the other A-10 schools could link up with the Big East's basketball only schools like DePaul, Marquette, and maybe bring in Notre Dame as well. Kind of a Catholic/Jesuit super-conference.
  12. Coach said during the radio postgame tonight that a "very good recruit" was going to watch the team play in Vegas.
  13. It is going to be pretty hard to go .500 this year if the team plays like this on the road. Not a single player on the team that hasn't had a terrible game.
  14. My buddy and I walked to Pappy's Smokehouse after the BC game......OUTSTANDING.
  15. Amen to that. There are a lot of bandwagon jumping younger fans now coming to the game who don't appreciate that fact. I am 28 but know how hard it can be for older people to get up-down and stand for long periods. I'm not saying people should never stand, I still do at key moments. But to those who say you should stand the whole game or you are not a 'real fan'.....I say grow up.
  16. There was no campus email alert for it as there tend to be for muggings etc.
