If this all ends up coming to pass I actually don't feel too bad about the future or even this season. Everyone wants a top big man, I understand that. But one advantage of not being in a BCS conference with a bunch of huge state schools is that we will play a lot of equally small teams. This team may not be the NCAA near-lock I thought they could be. But I think it can still be a solid team and finish in the top half of the A-10 at least. The program still has had its best 3 years of recruiting...possibly ever. I still intend to go to every game and enjoy myself. But everyone else can stay on a ledge/bridge if they want. Hope spring eternal.

Willie is not ready to be an NBA player at this point. Even if none of this had happened I think he would have needed to make a pretty good leap this year to be a legit draftee. He probably needs two years. We'll see though.

Its less about the time than the players reputations now. The university has reduced the sentence to what is essentially just a suspension till mid-Dec. But the players have to also write an apology. In either case this essentially means, "Admit you did it and we'll let you off lightly." It all comes down to how much the guys want to fight for their reputations. If they do, they may be gone for good. If they don't, they're back by A-10 play.

He also said that if the suspension is not revoked that Willie intends to transfer.

I'm certainly willing to apologize for the 'idiot' comment. That was just me, myself, being an idiot. I am highly (dare I say too highly) sensitive to the fact then when we are discussing players on this board we are talking about 18-22 year old kids. And while these kids are getting the great benefit of a free college education, they are still kids who are not being paid to play. Let alone put up with crap from the fans. Unlike a Cardinals or Rams or Blues player, we don't get to use how much money we've spent on the team as an excuse to say whatever we want about these kids. I particularly don't think we have the right to make negative comments (accurate or not) on a kid's intelligence, grades, life ...basically anything that is not about on-the-court performance. Anyhow on to other topics........

I'm so sick of these "insider" idiots who think because they once had a class with an athletic department intern's roommate that they are somehow plugged in. I've been a season ticket holder each of the last two years. And each year the Mardi Gras day/night game has been the most fun game of the year. Don't knock it till you try it.

Every bowl game but the national title game is an exhibition game. The Rose Bowl ceased to matter as soon as the BCS was formed.

I prefer "SLU Crew" since so many other school already use Blue Crew. As for as student/frat attendance, not to mention the general public. I think it really is as simple a making a Bills game the "in" thing to do. The downside to that is that it would make the game more a social event than a die-hard fanhouse,

Student turnout will be low as it is during the holiday break. As for marketing the game, I don't think it would be that hard if the athletic department used some creativity (good luck there): "Keep the party going." To tie in to the holiday. "What would you rather watch? A football exhibition game, or a basketball game that COUNTS."

Chris May was just on 550AM. He said that contacts in the A-10 league office actually came to SLU about a potential Duke game and helped set it up.
