I feel like everyone knows Ford is Grawer 2.0 and we're just conflicted on when to pull the plug...

ASK THE AUDIENCE - Rooting Interest
Duff Man replied to Matty Light's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
I'm a fan of Dennis Gates and am envious of the rival program that was able to move past their underachieving nice guy coach and hire someone who could produce results. -
SLU has not swept Dayton since 2010 when it was Majerus vs Gregory and we had Kwam and future NBA player Willie Reed. SLU has not won in Dayton since 2014 when we had Jett and McCall. SLU has never won at VCU. We have a better chance of winning the A10 tournament than running the table in the regular season.

Granted the games against Paul Quinn, Harris Stowe (last season), and Maryville (his 1st year) all count for the Billikens records, but in terms of chasing the Hurley 1076 mark, are the 32 assists he racked up against non D1 teams going to count?

Billikens.com: 2022 - 2023 Extra Tickets Thread
Duff Man replied to SluSignGuy's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
I fell into some extras today. Check your DMs. edit: extra tickets have been claimed -
I think let's wait until the end of the season to make any formal declaration but something would have to go wrong for Yuri not to own this designation when all is said and done. That was a baller performance today.

He posted a plus 12, played in the closing minutes of a win, and to really put things in perspective look at what Wizards fans are saying on Twitter... -

Limited sample but JGood's PER (player efficiency rating) in 5 games this year is 26.4 That's outstanding. He went from making a cameo to getting garbage time minutes to cracking the rotation to really impacting the outcome an NBA game in his 7th game. Just keep it up and stay healthy and who knows how long this could go... -
If you've gone to a Cardinals game, Blues game, or big venue concert in 2022, this is par for the course. Just go to am.ticketmaster.com/slu and login well in advance and make sure your tickets are there. Then be on that site when you go to the game but wait until you're in line to load your tickets and you'll be fine.

Fun Facts about SLU's former MCC counterparts who advanced beyond SLU and ended up in the Big East... Marquette: Haven't won an NCAA tournament game since 2013 Xavier: Haven't made the NCAA tournament since 2018 Butler: Haven't made the NCAA tournament since 2018 Getting into the Big East would not make SLU's path to the NCAA tournament any easier.

One guy married a Walton broad and then got richer by f-ing people over with impunity like a strip mall Daniel Plainview. The other is a ~21 year old struggling to find his place in this world. As much as Yuri might disappoint us, he's not Stan Kroenke.

He gone, yo Look, if he was playing hero ball and actually able to beat his man and score consistently while losing playing time for not playing hard on D or passing enough - that would be one thing...but the reality was that was not acclimated to the altitude of top 100 D1 competition. He did not have a good feel for the game. He regularly would look awkward trying to do too much and for as physically gifted as he was, he was often times the weakest link of the 5 on the floor for the Billikens. We all had high hopes for Nesbitt. It didn't work out. That's on him. Hopefully he'll end up like Willie (minus the scumbag agent costing him 8 figures and domestic violence thing that ran him out of the league) and not like the others being mentioned.
-
If you're worried about minutes you move on via the Transfer Portal not the NBA Draft
-
Just to be clear, the thought process in this hypothetical scenario is that Nesbitt was so worried about losing playing time to a teammate returning from an ACL injury that he entered the NBA draft?

What did the Greg Lansky tweet say?

I'd put Kwamain above Goodwin and Perkins and Collins (and Love and Perry) are in the mix...but yeah, I'm picking up what you're throwing down
-
which part? or all of the above? At what point was Willie above Kwamain? Willie's had a SLU career high 21 points with 8 rebounds in a win La Salle. Kwam had 25 points 4 assists 2 steals and 0 turnovers in that game. Willie had 20 and 15 in a 12 point loss to Notre Dame when Kwam only had 14 points 3 assists w 4 turnovers....or perhaps you can cherry pick games from the lame duck CBI run when Willie was better than Kwam... but overall from the moment Kwamain entered the fold through Willie's last game...Kwamain was always Batman to Willie's (at best) Robin
-
At no point was Willie more entertaining/enjoyable/engaging/talented than Kwamain. He was taller and he was more fit for the NBA but Kwam, but even when he advanced in his 2nd season he was still a long way (nearly 6 years) from playing in an NBA game. If you want to rank the most entertaining/charismatic SLU players of the Chaifetz era, Willie isn't cracking the top 5.
-
I never thought Willie or JGood would make it, so I won't rule out JNezz getting there eventually...after toiling for years in obscurity and maturing on the court and off. Best of luck. He's going to need it.

GDT: A10 Quarterfinals vs St. Bonaventure
Duff Man replied to NextYearBill's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
The game was over. It was beyond over. They were looking at the clock to determine if maybe there was 0.1 sec left or not and then they shook hands. It was not in the heat of the moment. Why would there even be any reason to engage? Players should not be talking to the opposing teams cheerleaders. Period. Players who were let off the hook should not be talking smack to the opposition. Period. Neither program is going to say anything because it's negative publicity. Independent journalists with no bias one way or the other were ones highlighting it. People here want to give our guy the benefit of the doubt. It's understandable. I just think it's a bad look for a guy who went 0-8 and was let off the hook on the final sequence to be talking smack to opposing teams female cheerleaders. That's just me. That's just how I feel about it.
