  1. I can't see any problems with a school taking a way a player scholarship as long as the player has the option of leaving the school at any time and transferring to another program and being eligible immediately. Shouldn't the players have the same option as the school? How do we ever know if the player leaves or is booted. Doesn't matter what they say. I can imagine RM sitting down with the 4 players that will not be back next year, and they won't, and saying hey, you annouce you have decided to transfer, we will help you find a new school. If we have to boot you, no help. As a player, what would you do?
  2. I noticed that we only had 9 TO's today which is excellant against anyone. Of the 9, I believe 4 were offensive fouls. 1 on Luke, 2 on Bryce and it seems like one other, maybe Kevin on a push off. Great job of taking care of the ball.
  3. "hey it works for him. great. in the long run we all will benefit from a winning experience on the court. eventually he will find the players that enjoy that and we will win. but to insinuate that our current kids are somehow character challenged with "we've got to separate the wheat from the chaff" is insulting and wrong as well. slu's track record of successful student athletes after their career is over speaks for itself." If I were a betting man, I would bet that the University is embarressed and either involved in a lawsuit or on probation from RM's actions before "we all benefit from a winning experience on the court."
  4. It's too bad you can't get into practice, you would see that the stuff he does today is no better than the 2 "incidents" he was sorry for.
  5. Of course based upon past performance with RM, we know already that 2 of the 5 recruits for next year will not graduate from SLU. Do you think any coaches recruiting against RM will bring up the fact that the chances are only 60-40 that your son will graduate from SL if he signs with RM?
  6. So does anyone else find it ironic that RM who supposedly embraces the Jesuit institution and the Catholic faith, can be such a vulgar selfish ba$tard and not see anything wrong with his actions? Is this another case of the little man who couldn't make it as a player, getting a chance to coach, and being the horses a$$ to all of the players to help him overcome his feeling of inadequacy?
  7. Just curious-could it be that Rick WAS big time and that the time away from coaching, his stubbord pride that says "my way is the only way" will prevent him from being big time again?
  8. 1. TL, KL, LM, DP, BH 2. Road Games-teams below us we should beat La Salle GW Richmond Charlotte Road Games against teams above us If we could just win 1............. Dayton U Mass Duquesne St Joe's Home games We beat St Bonnie, GW, Fordham & Temple If we could split with Dayton, X, RI, and U Mass That would make us 11-5. I'm sure we will lose 1 or 2 that we shouldn't, but then maybe win the same so I will take 11-5. 3. Mitchell 4. KL every time. 5. If they could help they would be playing so no.
  9. Assuming everyone is healthy, with the conference season starting, who would you like to see as starters? How deep should we go off of the bench and how should the minutes be split?
  10. Saw BH in a boot late this afternoon. Hope it's nothing serious like the return of the stress fracture.
  11. Be careful when you only read printed words. Sometimes there is more between the lines then what is in them. How would you like to be a player/players that will be booted? Do you think he/they want family and friends to continually read that they are going to be booted. Do you really think that morale won't be affected when players know there friends are going to be booted? And yes, the players said nice things. Did you think they would say something negative and put RM down in the newspaper even if they weren't happy? Only if they don't want to play anymore. There is a lot more going on then meets the eye.
  12. We really won't any help from extra practices against IUPUI. Even though they practiced twice last Friday, they had a short practice on Saturday and then had 3 days off. I would guess maybe 2 practices tomorrow but I hope only 1 on Friday so that they are fresh on Saturday.
  13. Roy, if you understood how our defense is suppose to work and review the play by play you might look at it differently. 55 had 6 baskets. From memory and reviewing the play by play the following is what happened. 2 baskets abainst BE. 1 basket on a backcourt turnover where BH was already heading down the court on offense. 2 baskets where BH headged and no one slid over as they are suppose to on defense. Had it been BH's responsibility he would have been taken out and he was not. 1 basket around BH. Also 6 missed shots 5 of which were over BH. Bottom line-we shot less than 30%. That won't win many games.

  15. According to a friend of mine that is now a Head coach at a D3 school and was a asst. for a couple of D1 schools up until 2 years ago, coach's cannot have any workouts with the players or watch them play from finals week in the spring until classes start in the fall. The only thing that is allowed is conditioning during this window with a strength coach and playing or practicing unsupervised by any coach emploed by the university.
  16. I think 12-2, 11-3 is very realistic. Tommy will be back playing 35 minutes a game and I think we will see a different Danny Brown under RM. My bet is he will not committ the dumb turnovers that he has in the past(at least not many). He will also give us another scoring threat and some needed depth.
  17. Has Bryce improved because he worked hard this summer, because of RM, or maybe not improved? I would guess from what I have seen and heard, a combination of reasons. First of all we know RM wasn't hired until roughly May 1. He could not work with BH from end of Spring semester until classes started in August. BH was in a boot all of September and the first 2 weeks of October so he really spent little time with RM. I am sure he worked hard this summer but I wonder how much he really improved from a year ago. He can't be in very good shape yet but he still went 26 minutes on Saturday so is he better or were his talents wasted under BS? It is also interesting how well we get the ball inside under RM, something we really struggled to do under BS. I Have to believe his improvement comes from opportunity, confidence, and a coach that runs a offense that gets him the ball where he can do something with it. He has always blocked shots and played defense.
  18. Interesting numbers from last game show BH went 26 minutes and BE went only 20 with no foul trouble. I didn't see fatigue for BH being a problem in that game and the teams wnet up and down the court pretty well as evidenced by 81 SLU points. The tough part when both start is that if both are ready for a blow after 4-5 minutes, your substitution pattern is screwed up. If AK could give us 6-8 quality minutes a game it would sure help.
  19. " Apparently, as I heard this second hand, BH said he really didn't get in shape last year (and I presume in the past) in that he new IV would be playing ahead of him." The key is "......heard second hand." I think it is a case of BS not really giving a player a chance or the confidence to succeed when he did get on the court. I wonder what kind of player IV would be under RM. Then too, would have JJ excelled or found the end of the bench under RM.
  20. Nick Nick, I agree with you. If there is a loss of talent swapping IV/JJ for BE/BH, it is more than made up by another year of maturity and experience of our 4 returning starters. The trump card being much better prep for our opponents and much better game coaching from RM and staff. We won 20 last year-I stand by 24-6 regular season after the first 4 games. There is not a team on our schedule that we can't compete with. We wll stumble once in a while, but we will always be in the hunt at the end of the game.
  21. Just a question. I agree that BH has never jumped well but doesn't he have a foot injury also? Also, I think he is only averaging like 2 TO's per game and I am pretty sure a couple of those TO's were offensive fouls trying to get position. Are we knocking him unjustly? The guy had almost a point a minute and a rebound every 2 Wednesday night. Before you say that the competition wasn't very good you should justify every other players stats.
  22. 1 hour 38 minutes till we begin to learn a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!
