  1. I am sure there are some great local spots in Detroit, but my experience in Chicago was rather "meh." (http://unionpizza.com/). The dough to sauce/toppings ratio was way off and it was relatively expensive. Also, none of the components really stuck out. Also also, Quad Cities takes the cake for weirdest regional style.
  2. Looking at this in a more positive note, Santos had an entire year to play (albeit in practice) with French, Foremen, Bess, and Goodwin*. Also, Goodwin, by all accounts, has been working on his game and should be an even better PG in year 2 making it easier for everyone to find their individual role AND we get guys playing in their natural positions (Bess = 3; French = 4, etc.) Also also, anyone else really excited about the fact that teams won't be able to just sit back in a zone and dare Jalen Johnson / Hines / Bess to jack 3s all game?
  3. I'd put money on the H/H being with DePaul - offers SLU another opportunity to build the Chicagoland alumni network/raise money, Chaifetz lives there, and DePaul is bad enough to not thumb their nose at us when we ask for a H/H knowing that we will beat them (also, history from Great Midwest). Last time SLU played in Chicago was at UIC for some tournament when Majerus was coaching. Been too long.
  4. I'm sure this has been discussed, but why doesn't Anthony get more than 2 minutes a game when we have 7 scholarship players? Also, all the BS aside, this might be one of my favorite teams. What they have achieved playing essentially 6 guys is remarkable. These guys just bring it and it's fun to watch. Let's get a few more W's!
  5. Agreed. Presume the parties are all over 18, so no charge of producing child pornography... However, as a result of "revenge porn" many states now have strict laws about posting nude photos or videos online without the other party's/parties' consent. My gut reaction is that this has been one of the main issues all along (not sure if MO has such laws in place also noting that SLU is a private institution and can create its own / stricter rules). Also, I think some people have mentioned that this was all consensual and implied you cannot "take back" consent, which from my understanding is just wrong (e.g. you begin consensual sex, one party clearly says stop, the other deoesn't, etc.). This logic would also apply to "consent" given to filming. It's a good sign that no criminal charges were filed, but a prosecutor choosing not to file criminal charges where proof must be "beyond a reasonable doubt" is much different than a private institutions evaluation of breaking school conduct (which I know from personal experience throwing a party in the village, is very strict). With that said, I still don't understand why it has taken so long to flesh this all out and make a decision.
  6. On my iPhone, that is the emoji that pops up if I type "thanks." So, thanks + soon"? Either way, the fact that he engaged via social media with a fan regarding his return seems to imply that he is: (1) sticking around; and (2) potentially, returning "soon."
  7. More Friday morning Title IX readings: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-northwestern-sexual-misconduct-lawsuit-20171207-story.html
  8. Well, compared to SLU's initial letter, this is vague and nebulous! Imagine if they used some specific facts/dates... Our clients, since day 1, have denied all accusations .... No criminal charges has been pressed. Our clients have been cooperating with all parties involved in an attempt to reach a speedy and just outcome. Our clients were given notice on xyz that 123 was going to happen, and according to SLU's/Title IX's (or whatever) own stated rules, 123 has yet to happen. Moreover, no good reason for the delay has been provided. Something simple, factually based, and objective would, in my opinion, would be more of a "shot across SLU's bow." Also, regarding shot's across SLU's bow, if these guys want to stay at SLU and keep playing bball, not good to start a publicity fight, get cleared (hopefully), and then hope to be welcomed back by the administration with open arms.
  9. Agreed, refers to a vague "complete failure" of the Title IX process and an "interim suspension" from playing basketball. No mention of any specific dates, deadlines, etc.
  10. My wife will not be happy to hear about this, although, I am.
  11. Quit being so rational, please (sarcasm: I agree with this post 100%).
  12. 4 of us flying in from Chicago; we will be at Foley's and both games.
  13. I wish this was publicized earlier... the reception and pre-game is a good deal and cheaper than buying single tickets plus the pre-game reception.
  14. Quick question re: attending events @ MSG: how are the ushers? I saw that tickets via SLU at 100/each but I just checked Ticketmaster and I can get tickets behind the basket for 15/each. I would rather save 85 a ticket and move to the SLU section (can't be that big, right?) but am unsure if the ushers in the "good seats" will put the kabosh on this. Anyone have thoughts/experience at MSG? Thanks in advance.
  15. Tickets are limited to the upper deck as of right now. I just got section 307, Row 10, seats 1-4. Whole row was open.
  16. 5 coming from Chicago. Went last time and had a blast.
  17. Orlando to T&T is not bad at all (plus they fly chartered planes). Also, this group is almost exclusively made up of MLS players who are in season/shape and on a WC break right now to focus on these games. Also also, every other team in CONCACAF (minus Costa Rica) had the same turn around time in between games this week. I don't see any excuse for the lack of energy/effort (my opinion, at least) in that game last night.
  18. Curious - which 7? With an eye to the future, I would say Wood, Pulisic, Yedlin, Arriola, , Acosta, are the only ones I'd care to see back from the squad last night (Jordan Morris wasn't on the roster last night, but is in that boat, too). El Guzano, who will no doubt be the "elder" goal keeper going forward as we mix in younger guys (not saying he will automatically start). Bradley and Cameron will continue to get call ups b/c they are veterans, but are both on the wrong side of 30 to be part of the plan, in my book, going foward. (Side note: Bradley is SO inconsistent and doesn't cover ground/provide bite like he used too; Cameron at center back over either of those scrubs last night, please). Altidore should be done with the USMNT (de facto starter since he was 18 and... well...). Also, why didn't we have Fabian Johnson on our bench instead of about everyone else?
  19. Just me or is the link no longer working for the the hotel?
  20. I really doubt the stadium will do much of anything. Everyone complained about having to drive to the Allstate (and really, it wasn't a problem when they were good - lots of alums in the burbs they used to have that placed packed every night), but getting to McCormick is equally as miserable. And I don't buy the public transportation argument b/c you have to transfer L lines and/or walk/take a bus. Really don't see students wanting to make a 40+ minute commute, each way, on a Tuesday night to see a 5 start point guard. Oh, you still have to recruit kids to DePaul, which they haven't been able to do for 10+ years / they've been so bad for so long they've lost any traction in this town, especially given the Cubs/Hawks recent success. That said, can we get a home and home scheduled? Rant over.
  21. I want to check my math real quick... Graves is a "sure thing" and sitting out the beginning of the season due to transfer rules + Goodwin - who is coming off labrum surgery - will be healthy (I'm hopeful, but doubtful he'll be ready for the start of the season) and was "promised PG" = Bishop has no spot on this team and will transfer. I think Bishop will be just fine at PG (at least as a backup) once we can spread the floor and have more than 1 offensive threat. Also, FWIW, dude sat out this year - why in the world would he want to transfer and sit out another successive year? Talk about self-imposed purgatory for a college basketball player.
  22. Granted he is 18 or so, but torn labrum's take a relatively long time to rehab. Also granted, once he enrolls at SLU he'll probably be doing full time rehab that will accelerate the process.
  23. Agreed. I mean, I'm glad we play SUI and Edwardsville all the time - really great for the Metro East Alumni association - but can't we at least get a home and home with Loyola (I know Garanzini (sp?) is gone, but Porter, Jesuit connection, etc) or UIC? Regarding alumni in the Chicago, there ARE a lot now and all we get hit up for is an annual Cubs/Cards game (gets old after 10 years, plus people have fun stuff to do in the summer already). I miss the SLU pre-game hospitality prior to a SLU-DePaul games during the Great Midwest years (granted, I was like 10 and couldn't drink at those).
  24. To some extent, we need Crawford on the floor - despite any apparent rust/injury concerns - to at least be a decoy. I would presume (and this could change after a few more games) that he is the #1 offensive player other teams scout and have to defend on the perimeter If you sit him in place of an unproven freshman, I would just play a match up zone and dare us to shoot all the time. Playing with better players is huge. I think Bishop will be fine to get the ball up the court and start the offense once we have legit offensive threats to spread the court.
  25. Surprisingly rebounding pretty well so far (not trying to jinx it).
