  1. i look forward to a posting tomorrow from jimbo or box or brian or someone to start the offseason i thinking of the pacific northwest - to honor a new player
  2. band members - thank you very much for your contribution to the atmosphere and overall experience of billiken games -i have heard several college bands, and of course i am biased, but you folks are the best, by far -you are always crisp on the numbers you play and add to the play list every year -i wish there was more time for you to play at games, maybe that will come -in your shoes, i would not make a 15 hour one way bus ride to share 1 game with another band -i would not do it for 2 games, but playing 2 or more games is not a guarantee in a conf tourney setting -i look forward to the cd and hearing you next year in the Chaifetz -if i win powerball tonight i'll spring for it next year THANKS
  3. i can't believe i cleared my schedule from 10.30 until 1.30 tomorrow expecting to watch the game radio it is so is the life of the Billiken faithful
  4. i would want to play, but my mentality to my own lack of athletic prowess was to try to be the big fish in the small pond, i wanted to play not pick splinters out of my ass maybe they came to slu because they thought bball aside, this was the place where they could get the best education for what they want to do in life part of me, if this whole deal is true, feels bad for them, i really do part of me realizes this is like North Dallas 40 - they are peices of meat - not that this is right
  5. Band Man, not sure where you are in life, but at 18,19 or 20 I am not sure i would have been able to see this silver lining if this is all true, i hope the kids can see it and if this is not true, which i guess is a possiblity, what a huge disservice strickland did to these kids
  6. where were these thoughts expressed?
  7. -this may only be my opinion, but there is no way for roy to be objective when it comes to lisch -so debating him on any lisch-related topic is going no where
  8. -i doubt this is true because of the source -stricklnad is supposed to be a Blues insider or something -he said on sportsplus 2 or 3 weeks ago that barret jackman had played his last game as a Blue and that the Blues were negotiating with Bryce Salvador and it looked like they were going to resign him - he even repeated what he said -a few days later barret jackman is resigned and salvador is traded -and this guy is trying to break news on slu?????? -somehow i don't think so
  9. if you interview him, ask scott highmark if he ever uttered the phrase (broadcasting or regular conversation) 'make a basket' or 'make a shot' as opposed to 'knock it down'?
  10. everyone has a different take i guess, but complaining about the announcers for our 4 or 5 televised games seems a bit off to me i was thankful i could watch the first 9 minutes, after that not so much
  11. i would love to be optimistic but our record with muliptle days of rest/preparation makes me think we get clobbered by dayton i thought by this time we would be a team that people would not want to play, i was wrong
  12. Woops!!! in my own defense he could have started a new thread or i could have paid attention
  13. i am not nate, i realize i only saw mccoy this year for a quarter i have seen him in prior years bball people whose opinions i respect saw him several times this year their unanimous view is he would be an upgrade over an eckerle and this is not meant as a knock on eckerle do we have room maybe the question ps-everyone notice vtime back in the game???
  14. i think i understand reasons for wanting memphis to lose - calipari, the mink coats, the rest of the scandles, calipari, the scandles, calipari but there a couple of reasons why them winning would not be that bad - non-bcs, they used to have a killer dance team(have not seen this yr's edition) memphis could get sent to little rock or birmingham for first 2 rounds which could help them as not far from home
  15. ok, i think this is nuts this has as much chance as majerus walking by pizza hut and not going in but you said it and are sticking by it you are either very very smart or very very dumb or maybe an internet ###### disturber, but why do this on a slu board i am not sure
  16. thank you Box that will make the snow melt!!!!
  17. who was it that said "you can't go home again"?
  18. -to me this shows a couple of things... -another example where the power those guys in the room in Indy have is far, far reaching -men's d1 bball is a business, a big business -winning 19 games or having a 34 rpi means nothing, you need jim nantz or whoever to announce your school's name on that sunday -i don't want to think yet about what happens if we are not in at least one of the next 2 tourneys after this year's -this is another example of why coaches want a bigger field, to keep their jobs
  19. -let's review -original question by vtime was "anyone think cotto is better than allen?" -billiken roy says "i do" -cowboy asks "why don't you break down the deficencies in allen's overall game vs cotto since you are saying cotto is better than allen?" -billiken roy's response "for cowboy above my biggest like past the obvious tremendous range and strong passing skills, is that i like cotto's size. he already has a division one body right now. he looks like an nfl safety. -cowboy asks "my question was if you could compare what you see in cotto to what you see in allen and where cotto is a player you want over allen as you said you wanted cotto over allen and i am just wondering what is causing that point of view" -billiken roy's response "as stated many times, cotto has the division one body and unbelievable range shooting the ball. after watching polk in high school and then at slu i have become a big believer in the physical build aspect of a player. i dont like that the game has gotten that way, but with the ever increasing lack of whistle's by the zebra's there is no denying the necessity to make that a major factor." -cowboy's repsonse "i guess you choose not to answer the question, that's fine" -billiken roy's response "as to cowboy, how did i not answer the question? i said that cotto is better built physically for high division one basketball and has more range than allen has. isnt that comparing the two and saying why if i had to pick why i would take cotto? you need to clue me in on how i am not answering your question as it seems this is the third time i have said that in this thread. " -cowboy's response - billiken roy, in your last repsonse was the first time you compared the two players and that was on physical build and range as all the other replies dealt only with one of the players, cotto. thank you -just hoping you have seen allen play enough to make your comparison -by the way, how many times have you seen allen play versus cotto games?
  20. i guess you choose not to answer the question, that's fine
  21. Rick mentioned playing ND in Chicago in 2 years also wants fans at the show next year and this is the last show of the year-damn the season flew by
  22. Rick is in Minn recruiting - do we know who??
  23. i guess since no bball players there = no attraction = no customers =no money = closing if that is the case their business model should have gone more after the golden girls then bbal players!!!!
