-i am a huge fan of creating and exploiting mismatches and making the other team prepare and execute against multiple looks -by this i mean pick up full court, trap, half court trap, show a bit of zone, try to break, whatever a few times a game you can do to make the opponent uncomfortable in preparation and playing -i love to see time outs when teams are not prepared for something they see -now with 7 frosh, not sure how much of this we could do, maybe send cotto in to p/u full court, or use cotto and km in a full court set every now and again -one thing i noticed from harris stowe that was different from last year was when we got the defensive rebound it was get to the other end as quick as possible, i like that with the ball handlers i think we have -i am fairly certain i will be entertained this year watching what we are trying to do and the hopeful development as the season progresses

thanks in advance Nashville can't wait to see it
-
-i guess it is a sharing of the credit on danny brown between him and the staff as, to use rick's words, danny was a turnover waiting to happen, and then the quality of play he exhibited last year was quite a transformation, or maybe danny just got it, who knows -it could be this kind of change that makes some think we could be better than what some other fans think, but preseason debate, heck debate, is part of being a fan -i hope we are good from the start, the rams suck and the blues don't seem to be going anywhere too fast so there is a nice opportunity to grab some fans and i think if we get them in the bldg they will be wow'd and come back

-rick basically said last year the coach at h-s let slu practice in his gym when west pine was not available and rick does not forget someone being nice to him, so we are playing the game -no idea if this translates to more than one year -
The Shootout? ... and a future high school event at Chaifetz

i agree that slu should use the arena often for these types of events to build the fan and recruiting bases i do wonder about rick giving up the time on the court, esp over Christmas when he may want to practice 18 hours a day -

-prez -good to have you back -Teresa told me it is Kevin's tailbone, may have to stand in class for a while but will be ok -i have posted several times about the sound system, but it seemed to work well last night, good job -for all you guy phillips haters, i understand a bit more now, guy, let's understand how to pronounce the kids names before the season starts next year -i sensed a totally different vibe in this bldg, being half full, than even at the Arena when sold out under Spoon, this is going to be great fun -every one of these frosh has the ability to do a couple of things, each of them have skills, each of them have things on which to work, but i think it will be real interesting to watch this team develop, they may not be good this year, they will be better next year, and when they are jr's, we should be a very good team (assuming all stay healthy, at slu and progress like rick will want them) -to quote John McCain - "my friends, good days are ahead" - oh ######, he lost -
Amen to that!!!!!!

wow, what a deal - it is not what you know, it is who you know this kid's dad is a high school ref, i think one of the better ones
-
-i wish the kid a lot of luck -i also wish he was a Billiken
-
rick said certain boosters would be attending, he said anyone could go if they gave enough, maybe it was just Dr Chaifetz and his wife, who knows
-
-i am ok with any scrimmage info coming from the memphis camp as i am under the impression the ncaa wants these things as private as possible, but then i hear the ncaa granting teams early practices and that select boosters can attend the scrimmage so i am not sure what to think -hopefully our kids learned something and rick got some coaching points to get us ready for the mighty harris stowe (they might be)
-
not to be a buzz kill, but let's wait until the chicken goes over the damn before we count on anything this is, after all, the slu billikens

Grawer and SLU may finally bury the hatchet
Cowboy replied to brianstl's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
this is kind of funny..."may" finally bury the hatchet, good work to the AD imo coach grawer should be recognized and in a more than decent way as without him we are in sliac or whatever with fontbonne, maryville and the rest -

Lady Volleyball Billikens Break Into Top 25
Cowboy replied to billikenfan05's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
just keep a watchful eye about what you tell people they "need" to do, some will always have a differing opinion and other obligations -
-i will say again that i will have a hard time seeing games in stl not played at Chaifetz as it would seem to me that you don't spend $80mil or whatever and then go back to scottrade or go to the dome -i think duke has been playing a game in the meadowlands every year for the past several as they have a large alumni base and to follow on your previous post, is a good way for them to raise $$$$ -cbs makes it happen and voila, it is done
