  1. worth trying as it is obvious after the first Dayton game we did not match up and we can not have 5 guys go 35-40 minutes when the other team is in constant motion. He also quieted all the discussion of people leaving the team for lack of playing time. People have been very hopefull for DP and he does try hardl he had quality minutes last night. Dayton had better depth than we did and everyone knows a hot hand wins; 11 for 19 from the 3 and I have 2 degrees from SLU and have been watching for long enough to know Dayton takes great pleasure in beating us. I remember what difficulty we had with the Evansville Aces. We were a good victory for them and we can not take them lightly next time. If you win you can't brag about beating Evansville or Dayton. I was never a fan of VN altough I think he finally got in shape to play about 6 weeks ago; I was happy to hear he is getting his degree He was over hyped by our recruiters; he was too short, too slow, and showed no skill to get himself open or to make an open shot when an assist type pass found him unguarded. I thought anything over 5 minutes and us getting behind to start the game was insane not a good will gesture....I'd like to see us find at least 2 players 6 foot 9 with fade away jump shot capability. easy ed had bob petit on his hawks teams when he was MVP of the NBA, twice and I thought at 6 foot 8 Roland Gray got better each year and 6 foot 4 Monroe Douglas stayed about the same after his sophomore year which was very good but he did not keep getting better under grawer who almost held him out of games so Gray could catch him for career points
  2. he is a brett hull type of player who stands on a spot patiently waiting for 4 teamates to run around attracting attention until we can pass him the ball
  3. or DePaul Memphis we could get to the away games easier
  4. Mc Ilwraith has 22 pts but Bills down by 6 with 2:00 minutes
  5. about ten steals in first half makes up deficit in rebounds and fg %
  6. appreciate the quick reply
  7. anyone have a clue- we get 3 but most or charter digital out in the are due to Sunspots or alignment of their satellite; makes you wonder why you don't have your own dish
  8. Is he still in re hab; he worried me in the pre season games just being on the floor. He seems trimmer, now. Anyone know how he is rehabilitating?
  9. we beat Lasalle and Dayton; no duh? surprisingly they say their RPI dropped from 31 to 29 but later they say they lose their only top 50 win this weekend; their board is open to read unlike some others where you have to register.
  10. One home game left and people are asking about season tickets for next year; is it because the Cards are selling out or because college baskrtball has squashed hockey everywhere as the mid winter sport; Please, before ground breaking add three more rows to the top of side court seating; we can fill 11-12,000 all the time and a deeper bowl is wonderful for the circus and ice skating; the old Keil was a great three ring circus venue
  11. this team lacks in steals; coaching could help pass anticipation but just like defensive backs in football you take a chance and sometimes the other guy is all of a sudden "open" Polk and Liddell could both get us more steals; IV has such quick hands on defence he does well with steals- maybe there is an Anthony Bonner or Carlos Skinner out there for Slu; but in the meantime I see Polk as a kid who can really improve this year and the next two years if he works hard and plays with abandon
  12. I've called for it repeatedly; BH needs strength coacing; he is a true center; blocks shots has several good offensive skills and makes the offensive shooters adjust their shots being well over 7 foot; IV has to be the best 4 and best 5; we need to recruit more 4 and 5 players; I always thought 6' 9" is the perfect basketball player height; I may be older than some on the board but Easy Ed was our best All American and MVP of the NBA with a fairly slight, agile build so there is lots of hope for BH; maybe Brad does read the board; I would like to see Twin Towers six minutes each half and then JJ and VN are less necessary and I have been rooting for the JJ that I saw at Depaul end of season two years ago to re emerge
  13. Irons continues to run a powerhouse basketball program; he has had all sorts of problems with his other teams; he is committed to basketball-Tuna and Slaten both are shock jocks and anything coming out of either of them I have a tendency to dismiss as I tired of their attitudes a long time ago; I did not mean I did not have time to watch the entire program as much as I could not put up with the two them bolstering each other with little toffer other than prattle
  14. I think we would all be surprised at how few minutes per game H waldmann actually played; most of his short career with Spoon he played on teams loaded wiith guard and 3 point talent and he was one of the players; very good, indeed. He did not pay 35-40 minutes the way some of our talent starved teams forced people to play out of position. Slu needs players to come in, to play hard and be spelled by someone coming in with fresh legs to play just as hard. Slu needs a full complement not six , eight or ten. We haven't even been using all of our scholarships; big programs have kids who walk on trying to make the team that are better than our alternates for sure and some as good as our starters. Polk can get all the minutes he can stand if he does the things the team needs; no one is going to transfer away from a team that has exciting things happening. You could have expected Jimmy Mckinney to leave Mizzou, but he didn't; kids get committed to their teamates if they pass them the ball. This team is maybe too unselfish. Floyd Irons and Tuna were on TV together, today, I don't know if it was live and I couldn't watch the whole program but they spent most of their time dissing Kevin Slaten who I don't like, either...calling him a biggot because he tried to get more playing time for his son as if that somehow makes sense when Slaten is an ass towards everyone black or white. Blake Ahearn wanted SLU and he would have found a way to get his minutes and his points. If Polk and Liddell can find a way to get free for shots and they start to fall we are going to be the best program in the two state region and then we can start gunning for Illinois
  15. he said he is 6 foot 6 and 1/2"
  16. I'll always remember Rich Grawer for starting his kid and Winfield's instead of Claggett and for Spoon out coaching him whenever we played SMS. Why did SLU fire him? Lisch and Liddell could have a great 4 years and bring a stream of local talent who want to be in the post and on local TV; guys like Sloan Highmark, Douglas, Claggett are still recognized by the fans and are great young men; count Joe Wiley and lots of older guys in the stands who played and still back the bills; you can't do that if you play in a cornfield for State U
  17. Economics for tickets is going to change very shortly as the local fan base for sports is drained for Cardinals' tickets and pay to listen radio if they want a re broadcast of the anemic radio franchise. What gets leftonver goes to the Rams; the remainder may go NHL or to the Billikens because from 2008 on we can have all the Saturday night games we want. Being a Billiken Club member had better have its privileges at that point or a lot of people are going to stop giving if there is a psl and higher ticket prices, to boot
  18. John Belushi would've loved the part where you never have to graduate
  19. JJ's shot was there; he just did not make it; what did Luke do? Danny Brown could be good; but so could JJ. Brown is going to have to do something besides stand on his spot and wait for the ball; he has speed and agility but he needs to move
  20. He has been sharing his tickets with his family but I did not see him on the floor; maybe he realized what a debacle this was going to be; I also did not see Rich Nieman, Bob Ferry, or Anthony Bonner some of our other NBA players. Ed Mc Cauley should be shown proper respect in our new home arena
  21. Both of these were eliminated by the politicians to safeguard the ostentitious but under utilized Savvis. Granted it will be great for the city and midtown to get this SLU venue for free. Why was the Harmon led democratic machine allowed to bulldoze the historic arena. We put the St. Charles Family Center in business adding to suburban sprawl and bridge traffic problems over the Missouri It would seem fair for ticket sales tax to be lost to the city, at least
  22. although we have a lot of corporate no shows; I think people are missing the fact that cold weather fans did come out last night. It was 9º in the burbs and a warm but windy 14º at game time last night, downtown. I wish the ticket sales office could re-sell the corporate no shows. Perhaps thet could pool the corporate tickets to first come first serve or follow the symphony's old system of exchange for a later date. If they had to make appointments for their ticket allotments each game, maybe they would take better care of them. Debbie Yow made sure they had better seats than commomers like Ed Mc Cauley (what had he contributed in her lifetime at SLU?)They are the smart money crowd who won't bother giving away their preseason and non league tickets to employees or customers
  23. Just for Soderberg coached teams, of course
  24. with another year of this Soderberg will be drawing like the old days when a burned out Spoonhauer and an average talent coach like Grawer with a couple of good players filled the stands with 14,000 season ticket holders; too bad the reward for SLU was to become the third tennant in a building seating 22,000 that even the Blues can't fill. There is going to be some real bitching when Liddell and Lisch are seniors and a couple of new guys give the Billikens a real chance at the NCAA tournament and people will have to buy it on the radio. KFANS can't be heard at 14 th and Clark much less were we have to recruit. The North Carolina freshman from Poplar Bluff averaging 19 points and 8 rebounds and kids like Lisch and Liddell show how easily a program can turn with a couple of good recruits who are tough enough to step to the new level, Blake Ahearn had 18 points and a dunk for the Mo State team that is 18-4 just think how good we would be if he was one of our starting 4 guards and he had a fan base wanting to buy tickets that drive to Springfield for games
  25. it is legal to buy/sell tickets for face or less; season ticket holders have no prices printed on their tickets. All kinds of people sell their extra tickets rather than see good down low tickets go empty; just go 15 minutes earlier than you normally wood and watch for someone with tickets in their hands. I sit in row E or 5 raised rows behind the visitors and have often sold a pair of my 4 if I did not get someone lined up to go with me, No such luck tonight though as we have plenty of family and friends that would go see temple. Often season ticket holders sell or give their extras to the resellers so do not be afraid to offer $20 each for $27 tickets
