B12 had an asleep at the wheel Commissioner Bob Bowlsby he was a likeable senior citizen.  He had no prior notice until the announcement that Texas and OU were leaving the conference.  That is sad, it means he had no sources, no connections to warn him of such a huge change in the organization. B12 hired a new Commissioner B. Yormark and that guy is active. He is taking advantage of the P12s leadership vacuum. Shows you what a proactive Commissioner with vision can do.

Here's my prediction, CU back to B12, AZ and ASU (possibly Utah) to B12, P12 implodes UW and Oregon to B10.  B10 isn't moving on UW and Oregon now for fear of being sued but once the other dominoes fall that's no longer a concern.

So if the PAC12 is imploding, where will Cal and Stanford go?  With Cal's and Stanford's academic credentials, I would guess B10?

Right, this is reminiscent of the “we stopped recruiting him comments” we used to see all the time.  Ford’s defenders hyped up Noland when he signed, pointing to it as a sign of Ford’s recruiting prowess.  Now, they’re saying things like “he must’ve practiced with the guys and realized he can’t get minutes” or “he barely played for Oklahoma.”   The 7’4” center from Oral Roberts barely played for Oklahoma the year before and he'd have been the best big we have had in like 8 years. The reality of it is kids don’t want to play for a program in decline, especially in this era of college free agency… and I don’t think anyone can argue we aren’t trending the wrong direction

Vanover was at Arkansas before ORU.   You are correct that he had minimal minutes as a Razorback.

  3. If someone doesn't want to be a billiken, it's best to know sooner than later.  Just like I'm no longer buying preseason hype, I'm also not conceding defeat 4 months before the first practice.  We'll fill the 3 spots with transfers because Ford needs immediate results.  Maybe we'll get a nice surprise.   As it sits now, season tickets will decline.

Parker Braun is just wrapping up a campus visit. Played 2 years at Mizzou and 2 at Santa Clara, where he just graduated.

Younger brother of Denver Nuggets player Christian Braun. He's from Overland Park, KS and dating a Chiefs cheerleader.

Averaged about 8 and 6 at Santa Clara. 6-10 with a good frame. Checks a lot of boxes for SLU in terms of size, position, defense, rebounding.

I don't think the KS power conference schools would be a possibility. Wichita State has been recruiting him, though. SLU gets him closer to home than most other possibilities and offers a more attractive overall picture than most non-power conference schools. Seems like a good fit to me.

He's actually a year older than Christian Braun.  His dad was briefly a Billiken.  His mom is a Sandbothe that played at Mizzou

I want big bodies that can win the a10 though lol. Didn't see much in the video. So our bigs as of now are Bruce, cisse, and stef....

I was just really holding out for a splash big who could help us win now.

    Cisse is in portal, right?

Oh I'm with you there, but saying I don't see a Ford team beating a pitino team with a p5 roster. we had our hands full with low major players

23-24 game can be in STL to fulfill that elusive last home game

24-25 game is in MSG, where Cian Medley returns home and becomes a household name after our Billikens knock off Top 10 St John's Red Storm

I'm trying to think big again.  Plus we always want to play the big boys whenever possible.

we struggled with his Iona teams, I dont think I want to see his St Johns squad

If we ever want to beat a Top 25 team in the Ford regime, we need to play Top 25 teams.  There won't be many opportunities in the A10 conference games.

Again though, Roy…. Once the other team neutralized Gibson, who else was gonna score?  Last two seasons we didn’t have Goodwin who could put his head down and get to the rim with ease.  I’d argue we didn’t have one player other than Yuri who could get the ball at half court and create a somewhat decent shot for themselves. Perkins used to be that guy pre-injury.  Every team needs at least one or two guys who can grab the ball and get a decent shot up down the stretch… we had zero, so Yuri was forced into that role.

"creating your own shot" is the #1 thing Gibby (and TJ) should work on in the off-season.

Nope, two left with Noland. 13 total. This one gets us to eleven

    1. Jimerson 2. Hargrove. 3. Parker 4. Cisse 5. Thames 6. Medley 7. Vice. 8. Zhang. 9. Rivera 10. Hughes 11. Noland

Thames is one we haven't talked about much lately.  Pre-season, CF thought he could have a role due to his defending.  Maybe a strong off-season will get him back in the mix.

I mean this in no way as a shot at you or your post, but I'm so god damned sick of hearing about who's going to run point or backup point, just get me some guards that can take care of the ball and score. I really don't want another pure pass first PG. That's just this MBMs thought.

by PG, I mean does he a) have handles, and b) see the court well.  I have seen zero minutes of him.

  11. I have not been keeping up on the transfer portal gossip.

The intended role of previous recent transfers was obvious to me:

Andre (backup PG),   Okoro (starting 5),   Forrester (backup 5),   Rashad Williams (3pt shooting)

What is the predicted role for CJ?  Can he run point?  combo guard?   shut-down defender?

I did not see much of OU this year, and do not recall seeing CJ.

the center is a very good player and she is a perfect compliment to clark.   had to like she never missed a free throw and she was pretty much taking on the two mammoth inside ladies that south carolina had playing together by herself.    the martin girl is a very nice player.  she'd be a star on a lot of top teams.   the iowa team is good, we just dont notice the rest because clark is from another world talentwise.

Yes Martin is the ultimate glue player for them, and Marshall is a pest on defense.  Marshall only took 1 shot last night but has had big games.  Warnock too.  Stuelke has given them athleticism at the center spot off the the bench.  I thought Iowa had a great chance to make the Final 4, but also thought it would end last night.

Clark picked up Foul #2 with 8+ minutes to go in Q2, but Bluder trusted Clark to adjust and not get in foul trouble.

Iowa may be the most cohesive team I've seen in college basketball.  It was a crazy good game.

Given the number of A10 players who have entered the portal and/or done with college ball, it’s hard to see how the A10 is anything but a 1 bid league next season.   I guess we will see what it looks like in the fall, but right now I’d say if you are in the A10 and want to make the NCAA tournament, figure out how to win the A10 conference tournament.

It's early in the portal season.  We know a lot more about who's entered the portal, but not much about where they are going.   As always, we need to focus on what is under our control.  If next season is anything like this past season, we will likely need a great OOC record AND 16-2 in the conference for an at-large.

Stat line is what it is.

Those stats are underwhelming.  There may be some intangibles (defense, etc).

Here are LHJr stats for comparison:

Are we really gonna commit millions every year to transfers?

I hope that's not where we are going.  There will be coaches that may use lack of NIL money as an excuse for poor performance, yet each year some team with little or no NIL money will make a tourney run.  I doubt if Princeton and the other Ivy's will play the NIL game.  Ivy's don't even play the portal/transfer game.

This is just another example of how bad McGlade is.

I used to think McGlade should implement minimum facility standards.  My guess is she tried, but got major pushback from various university presidents.

I think her priorities should be:

    1. Better balance the west edge of the conference by adding 1-2 teams to the Dayton/SLU/Loyola western contingent

    2. Re-align the conference into 2 or 3 regions for better scheduling / better rivalries

    3. a mid-season / mid-major A10 vs ?? Showdown

                      - ?? could be Mountain West?, West Coast? or MVC?

                       - 1 seed vs 1 seed, 2 seed vs 2 seed, etc

                       - not sure who does the seeding (above my paygrade)

  17. I was not onboard with the Tillett hire but Year#1 was WAY better than i expected.  The team is establishing a culture for sure

Flowers showed she was elite today.

Martinez sees the court better than anyone else on the team and has moxie.

Everyone else needs to improve to compete for playing time.

Tillett needs to seriously raise the talent level.  I'm not impressed by the 2 juco signings.
