  1. I'd like to, but start of spring training is calling me back to sunny, hot and steamy Florida. LOL
  2. Bringing warmer weather with me Cowboy. Hear its going to be in the 50's on Saturday.
  3. I'll be driving up to St Louis from Naples, FL and am looking for 2 tickets to the Rhode Island game on Saturday. Anyone have any extra tickets that they want to part with?
  4. Didn't realize you were just up the road from me. I made it up to Ft Myers for 4 or 5 of the Palm Beach Cardinals games against the Twins farm club last summer. I'll be taking off to drive over to Jupiter a couple of times during March. If you want to hook up and ride over together, let me know. Just driving over for the day. Leave early from here, then drive back after the game.
  5. From the Cards website: This coming spring marks the 16th year that the Cardinals will train at Roger Dean Stadium. Cardinals' pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to Jupiter on February 12 and conduct their first workout on February 13. The remainder of the Cardinals' players are scheduled to report February 15 with their first workout on February 16. The Cardinals' Grapefruit League schedule features 16 home dates and 16 road games including four games as the "visiting" team against the Marlins, giving them 20 total games at Roger Dean Stadium. The Cardinals and Marlins will play a total of eight games this spring including a St. Patrick's Day matchup on March 17. Individual Spring Training tickets for games in Jupiter will go on sale Saturday, January 19, at 10 a.m. ET. Fans may purchase Cardinals spring training tickets in person at Roger Dean Stadium's Box Office or via the internet here at cardinals.com. Spring Training full season ticket plans, 6+ miniplans and group tickets are on sale now by calling 561-775-1818. Cardinals Spring Training tickets prices remain the same from 2012 for regular games: $28 for Field Box seats, $26 for Loge Box, $15 for bleachers and $15 for Berm seating (sold day of game only). Saturday and Sunday are designated as Premium Games, while the Boston Red Sox (February 24) and New York Yankees (March 7) are Super Premium games. Premium and Super Premium games will include an additional fee per ticket on those select dates.
  6. I saw only 1 recruit that they were walking thru during the FanFest. Didn't get his name. Overall, I would say there was approximately 200-250 people who attended the first FanFest. Hopefully, it will grow over the years. RM said that they needed to work out the rough edges for the future. Things like better signage would have helped us get down to the practice gym. The event was geared towards the young kids. Probably every one of them went home happy from all the attention that they received from the players. Coaching in the future for Conklin? I thought he was the one player who rose above and beyond the call of duty. He showed a lot of patience and maturity in working with the kids. Listening to Coach Harriman on how they put together the scouting reports, etc was worth the effort of making it down today. Kind of blew my mind when he quoted the $700K price tag for the scouting system that they purchased and installed. Toss in the charter flights, new gym and I kind of had to shake my head and wonder what Soderberg could had done with that type of support from SLU. Did not see CS, PE or Femi John at the event. Both Cassity and Conklin have graduated in 3 years and will be pursueing graduate work next year. Ellis seems to be on track or ahead of schedule on his rehab. Doing some shooting, but will not really step up the bb playing till August. Barnett - 3% body fat - best conditioned player on the team. Remuken - had gone from 31 in vertical jump when he first reported to about 37 in currently. Nice to see Mitchell at the event today. Looking forward to seeing both him and McCall on the court at the same time next year - 1 & 2 spots. Evans - has put on 20 lbs of muscle in the past year. From a 200 flat to 220 today. Good day to be a Billiken.
  7. IIRC, last spring the STLPD felt that they had enough evidence and went to the Prosecuting Attorney in St Louis and the Prosecuting Attorney's office declined to pursue charges against the players. This is not the first time that the PA has declined to prosecute athletes in St Louis. For example - remember the Ray Lankford / Orlando Pace incident?
  8. Been trying to stay out of the RM sound offs, but I have a question that I don't know the answer to and thought someone here might know the answer. If the men's BB team was using charter flights to go to out of town games, then is the University required to make the same accomodations to the women's BB team per title 9? (Or whatever title it was that requires equal treatment between the men/women.)
  9. Majerus and Gray-Miller to Speak at Billiken Tip-off Club Meeting Saint Louis University head basketball coaches Rick Majerus and Shimmy Gray-Miller will speak at the next meeting of the Billiken Tip-Off Club Tuesday, Jan. 5. 10. the eternal optimist.... Billikens come up with their best defensive effort of the year and win 59-55. Reed with 20 pts, 10 boards and 5 blocks. Mitchell with 10 assists on drives down the lane feeding the ball off.
  11. According to one member of Brett's family, Brett will make use of his 5 official visits that the NCAA allows before making a decision. He's scheduled one for later this month to the Univ. of Southern indiana. They are coached by former SIU-C asst coach Rodney Watson.
  12. I don't know where the writer for neworleans.com got his info, but it was not from the Thompson family. They did not even talk to the coach at SELA till after the article was printed and then retracted.
  13. NewOrleans.com has now pulled their story on Brett tranferring to SELA. But, the SELA coach must have read about the big guy falling into his lap last night - he made a call to the Thompson household today to see if he would "reconsider" SELA.
  14. Just got a message from a member of the Thompson family saying that the artcle fom new orleans.com is not true. Brett is not going to SE LA. No word on who he is considering.
  15. Good for Marcus. I always thought he had the talent, but didn't fit into the type of offense that RM runs.
  16. Even if we were able to land a transfer, don't forget that he'll have to sit out the 2009-10 season. Your better off either holding the scholarship for the next class or recruiting a JC combo guard who can step in and play immediately.

  18. Another Gator flies the coop: F Alex Tyus transfering By Ben Volin | Palm Beach Post
  19. Hey, I had the last name right. And I had BRA....Where's Vanna when you need her? STLHoops - agree that Jones should have been on the list.
  20. How come the best basketball player in the state (Chaminade's Bradley Beal) is not on the list?
  21. Lisch - sat out for quite a bit of the first half and the start of the second after injuring his left thigh or hip. He was limping noticeably when he came back in the second half. Mitchell - hurt his left hand/wrist when diving for a ball on the floor and collided with a LaSalle player. Reed - Looked like he took a shot in the "you know what". I can't believe the refs stopped the action when #10 went down and we had a 5 on 4 break. Thought they always waited till your team had possession again before calling the TO. Though it was at the other end of the court, it looked like the LaSalle coach got into it with a Blue Crew member when #10 was getting up off the floor. Did anyone else have a view of it?
  22. Just to ruin Jimbo's morning - T Lisch was in the house with her beau (Trent M) last night. They sat about 5-6 rows behind the Bills bench. During the post game festivities and after Kevin and his parents were introduced to the crowd, she moved down to the Billiken bench (sans Trent) to be with her younger brother Daniel, During a break, I yelled down to her "T - 1 more YEAR!" and got her to turn around She gave us a big smile. Maybe she'll hang around SLU to finish out her senior year after all. Jimbo - you gotta believe in miracles!
  23. Billikens post a convincing win - pulling away to win by 15 on the road against the Bonnies. The win on the road moves the Billikens in to the RPI Top 100.
  24. Femi was on crutches for Wednesday nite's game, but I don't recall him being on crutches Saturday. At least the time that I saw him Saturday he was off the crutches but still hobbling fairly badly.
