D worries me. A10 guards lick their chops when we’re their next game up. Remember Rick’s mantra Defend and Rebound. He got this from Al McGuire who said something like offense is like a flighty girlfriend. Hot and Cold. But D and Boards are the constants.
UConn had a very good offense. Purdue would tell you that UConn won the championship because of their defense.

Power forwards like this don’t need to stuff the stat box to add significant value to the team. Looks like a great addition.

Our contingent of guards should be able to pass over any defenders.

Amari, you are now part of something that will be special.

I like Hochman but Toasted Avioli is the stupidest nickname in a long list of stupid nicknames.
Toasted Ravila would have been better.

Were they totally immersed in the portal? Otherwise doesn’t sound like a coach and his staff trying all that hard to keep his gig.

Does anyone have a sense of how much participation the BVF has in NIL compensation for the slu women’s basketball team?
How do our numbers for NIL compare with other teams in the A10 and the Big East?
The BVF does not have a dedicated budget for WBB. Basically 1 pot of cash for all sports.

Exactly
Maybe the word around town that TF’s days at SLU were numbered was not as recent as this message board thought. Would definitely put a crimp on local recruiting. Not a knock against Tate.

I honestly just want to take Schertz out to my favorite brewery with food so he can get as much foodie info as possible. Dude is gonna love South City.
Coach Schertz needs a copy of this morning’s Post-Dispatch- critic Ian Froeb’s top 100 STL restaurants.

So if Avila plays 30 min and the 4 plays 30 min, there are 20 forward min available. In one interview about his Canadian big man recruit, he talked about playing 2 centers at the same time. While the height isn't as big a deal in the 5 out offense, it still counts when playing defense. A 5 out offense with a twin towers defense would really frustrate teams that want to go inside in their half court offense. It breaks convention and kind of blows your mind.
I’m in favor of anything we do to make our team perform as close to UConn as possible.

You would think that any player who has committed or already played for Schertz in the MVC at ISU in Terra Haute would be excited to follow him to the A10 in St. Louis.

Just bodies pretty much leaving. Id fight for jimmerson the rest, meh.
Travis Ford clearly could not coach up our current roster. I would be very interested in seeing what Coach Schertz could do with them.

Outstanding effort!!!

I’ll bet Coach Schertz will eclipse TF’s body of work within hours of the Monday press conference.

Might be interesting to make little name tags with your Billikens.com username on it, just sayin’.

That thread is getting hot and I'm here to watch that fan base make a$$es out of themselves. They don't have a clue about how the modern college basketball world operates. It is a business. Not a single one of them would turn down a job offer in their field that they want Schertz to turn down. It is just complete ignorance on their part and I regret feeling bad for them during this whole process.
Schertz would be crazy to turn down the opportunity to coach at the same University as Rebecca Tillett.

We complain when freshman bigs who don’t make headlines at SLU go elsewhere, develop their skills, and find success.
BZ is at the very beginning of his career. We have all seen that the TF coaching regime was never able to develop bigs.
Not so sure we should be celebrating BZ’s departure.

It will be a great Friday with a favorable coaching announcement.

If we match Travis’ over pay for any coach that’s a huge mistake. Maybe for May and Kelse a raise of $800k but no one else. We need NIL $$’s .
Do the players compete with the coaching staff for funding, or do they draw from separate budgets?
Welcome, Kalu Anya!

When is the last time we had a front court with personnel like this? Ever?
