  1. Making Obi the scapegoat for Brad's failures is overly simplistic and downright wrong. Due to the injury, Obi was a bit of a project that was going to take a while to be a big contributor even if all went well. Soderberg didn't even view Obi as a savior or quick fix, that's why he kept trying to recruit fours. He later signed Dixon and of course he continued to "save" scholarships. Soderberg had a lot more recruiting failures than just Obi. After Tommie and Kevin signed, Soderberg did a terrible job of adding to the talent base on the roster.
  2. Looks like our own Roy and postcard had a nice little dust up over on that board a few weeks before postcard starting showing up here. Not surprisingly, postcard didn't like Roy sticking up for the Bills. http://www.stltoday.com/forums/viewtopic.p...p;&start=16
  3. Rich, our new punching bag uses the term "board elders", tells people to meet him in his seats and is a Mizzou football fan just like the old troll... Mizzouphan. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. And I'm also sure he's genuinely concerned about what Tommie and Kevin think about coach's comment.
  4. Sorry. That's not me. I don't have that name on that forum because it was taken. I don't care about baseball anyway which is a lot of what that guy discussed. Here's a clue for you. I have made a few posts using a different handle on the Billikens board there. Haven't seen your name pop up there, but a search of your posting history shows that you like to pop up on MizzouTalk. Hey, nothing wrong with that, just be honest about your allegiance.
  5. Hey Brian, I completely agree that we should welcome fans from other programs, but keeping away imposters won't scare anybody away. In fact it will encourage quality posters to visit. I got no problem with posters who come on and are straight-shooters about what their school allegiance and even want to stir it up with us and talk crap about SLU. But others are too chicken-sh!t to be honest about what school they root for. We've had fluegel, phan and others in the past. We even had some who acted like they were SLU fans and were spreading false rumors about our players. That will and should be called out.
  6. You sure like to wave the Mizzou pom poms on the stl board and you were really harsh on a kid who is a SLU fan.
  7. I wonder why someone who dislikes SLU so much cares so much about their feelings. http://www.stltoday.com/forums/viewtopic.p...mp;&start=8
  8. Sometimes no news is good news. We all are in agreement that Majerus is great and things are headed in the right direction. There is no reason to bash Soderberg's lousy recruiting any more. We have five good commits and now we just wait for those to become offical. When is the signing date? I believe it's in early November. We won't be getting any first-hand practice reports, but maybe some of the insiders will have info leaked to them about injury updates and how the newcomers are looking. Everybody just needs to be patient. There will be a lot to talk about in a few weeks.

  10. Do you know if Soderberg's staff had a lot of contact with Bostick?
  11. To be consistent, you might want to consider deleting slu72's comment about Harry Reid. Thanks for your consideration.
  12. We've had our share of disagreements, but we can agree on this point. Well stated. And nice job by Sshoe on the Soderberg analogy.
  13. People can judge for themselves. It doesn't sound like he was talking about somebody pretending to be a soldier. It sounds like he was talking about soldiers who talk to the media and are against the war are the "phony soldiers". To the previous caller he said that you can not be a Republican and against the war. Wow! Way to allow a diversity of opinion within a party. LIMBAUGH: "Save the -- keep the troops safe" or whatever. I -- it's not possible, intellectually, to follow these people. CALLER 2: No, it's not, and what's really funny is, they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media. LIMBAUGH: The phony soldiers. CALLER 2: The phony soldiers. If you talk to a real soldier, they are proud to serve. They want to be over in Iraq. They understand their sacrifice, and they're willing to sacrifice for their country.
  14. During the September 26 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh called service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq "phony soldiers." He made the comment while discussing with a caller a conversation he had with a previous caller, "Mike from Chicago," who said he "used to be military," and "believe that we should pull out of Iraq." Limbaugh told the second caller, whom he identified as "Mike, this one from Olympia, Washington," that "[t]here's a lot" that people who favor U.S. withdrawal "don't understand" and that when asked why the United States should pull out, their only answer is, " 'Well, we just gotta bring the troops home.' ... 'Save the -- keeps the troops safe' or whatever," adding, "t's not possible, intellectually, to follow these people." "Mike" from Olympia replied, "No, it's not, and what's really funny is, they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media." Limbaugh interjected, "The phony soldiers." The caller, who had earlier said, "I am a serving American military, in the Army," agreed, replying, "The phony soldiers." On August 19, The New York Times published an op-ed by seven members of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. They ended their assessment of the situation in Iraq with the following passage: In a lawless environment where men with guns rule the streets, engaging in the banalities of life has become a death-defying act. Four years into our occupation, we have failed on every promise, while we have substituted Baath Party tyranny with a tyranny of Islamist, militia and criminal violence. When the primary preoccupation of average Iraqis is when and how they are likely to be killed, we can hardly feel smug as we hand out care packages. As an Iraqi man told us a few days ago with deep resignation, "We need security, not free food." In the end, we need to recognize that our presence may have released Iraqis from the grip of a tyrant, but that it has also robbed them of their self-respect. They will soon realize that the best way to regain dignity is to call us what we are -- an army of occupation -- and force our withdrawal. Until that happens, it would be prudent for us to increasingly let Iraqis take center stage in all matters, to come up with a nuanced policy in which we assist them from the margins but let them resolve their differences as they see fit. This suggestion is not meant to be defeatist, but rather to highlight our pursuit of incompatible policies to absurd ends without recognizing the incongruities. We need not talk about our morale. As committed soldiers, we will see this mission through. On September 12, The New York Times noted: "Two of the soldiers who wrote of their pessimism about the war in an Op-Ed article that appeared in The New York Times on Aug. 19 were killed in Baghdad on Monday."
  15. I ran across a postcard on the stltoday website who was ripping a SLU fan and waving the Mizzou pom poms. But I'm sure that's just a different postcard than the one who is on here... LOL! Billi"Mizzou"phan... I mean postcard and his sidekick are living on borrowed time. http://www.stltoday.com/forums/viewtopic.p...802&start=8
  16. Majerus will have to be creative with the lineups. Soderberg's recent failures to land quality bigs really hurts this team. If he could've landed just one useful big, instead of Obi, Horace and the dreaded open scholarship, I would feel much better about this year's team. With Majerus bringing in three good bigs next year, this won't be a problem in the future.
  17. It's not Metz. While he's also annoying he is smarter than these new trolls. He's also more of a SLU fan, he just didn't like Soderberg. He was fired up when Majerus got hired. It's also not joey fluegel. These two popped up around the same time just a few weeks ago and seem to be working in tandem. A lot like Billi"Mizzou"phan and Tigerdevil used to, before they disappeared after getting beat up on here.
  18. "spendinging"??? Lay off the bong hits Mizloser.
  19. You do bong hits and then go to "friens" house and then "warch" movie. LOL! Yep, that explains it.
  20. I suspect this is Mizzouphan or tigerdevil or one of the other Mizlosers who used to inhabit the Board. It's the same old tired tactic they used to use.
  21. And playing SIU at home this year, I expect SLU to win this game, just like we did last time we played them at home in '06.
  22. MO State, SIU... Xavier and Dayton will begin to develop.
  23. Let's see, powerballer is a new poster who immediately has an obsession with Roy and interjects Mizzou into a lot of posts. Hmm... sounds a lot like the board's old punching bag Mizzouphan. I don't think it't joey fluegel or cheesycow, seems more like Mizzouphan... somebody who is not very bright.
  24. I thought Soderberg had interest in him at one time. It doesn't sound like Ian got along great with Soderberg last year, so it probably wasn't going to happen anyway. Now with Majerus on board, we are recruiting a higher caliber player than Ian's brother. BTW, I would be thrilled if we landed Hill or Kuric. They both sound like good recruits.
  25. It could be Mizzouphan. He was really stupid and was also obsessed with Roy.
