I think they should hire us as "consultants". We'd undoubtedly be paid more money!

New season--new ridiculous behavior!

If Bing Crosby were still alive, he would post on the site all the time because he attended GU and knows that they are a family. -

When I heard that Balco had begun selling performance-enhancing pierogies through its web site, I knew it was all over for us.

We'll definitely have fun. I've got to buy some golf balls tonight - I tend to lose a lot of them!

I'm a newbie when it comes to the game of golf (just took up the sport about three months ago), so you'll have to be patient with me out there. I'll be hitting the driving range on my lunch break tomorrow, so hopefully I will be ready to go!

We're everyone's second favorite team!! Yay!! We're a family!!

I'll be at the Ben Folds show on Friday and hopefully the soccer game and Billiken Sports Update on Saturday. Should be fun! -
No worries - I just took up the sport about two months ago, so you're probably better off than I am!

I would like to play, but can't make it on 10/30.

I seem to remember someone from SLU's development department posting here in the past. Does anyone remember his name/e-mail address? I have an idea I'd like to share with him.

I think Bama uses an elephant for its mascot. Go figure.

We beat UVA 2-1 -
Sounds like the kid is pretty athletic. Is he a project, or does he have a chance at being a contributor this year?

I'm not a big fan of it in general, but I think it was appropriate in this case. The author used the TigerBoard quotes to help illustrate the intense scrutiny that a player of Hansbrough's caliber has to endure these days.

I had the exact same thought...

I always enjoy Mike Seely's basketball articles: http://www.rftstl.com/issues/2004-09-01/feature.html

I'm curious as to how everyone thinks Luke Meyer will perform this year. Personally, I have no idea because I've never seen him play and out of all our recruits, he's the player I've heard the least about. Will he be able to step in and contribute in a spot role this season, or will he ride the bench (or even be redshirted)? I'm looking forward to seeing him play - does he have any similarities to past Billikens?

Hey, I drink plenty of Bud at the day games! Saturday night games would definitely be preferable though for better student turnout and pre-partying opportunities.

Here's an article on one of our soccer recruits: Mehlville soccer midfielder's name evokes magic Scott Fitzgerald Of the Suburban Journal Oakville-Mehlville Journal While his name doesn't easily roll off the tongue -- most just refer to him as "Dado" – Mehlville senior midfielder Denaldin Hamzagic, at least on the soccer field, is a name that evokes magic. "He's a man among boys out there," said longtime Oakville coach Dave Robben. "I've seen him do some brilliant things with the ball." Hamzagic, who will graduate early, will enter St. Louis University in 2005 and play for the Billikens next fall, as an attacking midfielder who has a knack for making those around him better. Thanks in part to his unselfish play, the Panthers had one of their more stellar seasons in recent memory last year, finishing a very respectable 18-8-1. Mehlville advanced all the way to the state quarterfinals before falling to Chaminade 3-1. But almost as big was a 5-3 district final victory over Oakville, the Panthers' intra-district nemesis. "That was the biggest win I've ever been part of here," said Hamzagic, who finished with 13 goals and 13 assists last season. "It was the first time we beat them, and it was a really good feeling. We came in prepared and believed we could beat them. "Oakville beat us 8-0 when I was a freshman, and I've never forgotten that game." Not many opposing players have forgotten Hamzagic, who was also recruited by national champion Indiana, Maryland and St. John's. In July, he chose to attend SLU. Now that he's seeing Hamzagic for the fourth year, Mehlville coach Scott Jackson has about run out of superlatives. "A lot of kids are picking him for player of the year," Jackson said. "He has the size, speed, ball skills and overall knowledge of the game. He's the best player I've been associated with in all my years in the game." Hamzagic, who came to this country in 1999 from Bosnia, began playing when he was 10. He also plays forward on the Busch 18-and-under squad that recently won the national title. "I love the game," Hamzagic said. "The only way you can get better is if you love playing the game." Hamzagic recently was involved in an Adidas clinic, where 150 juniors and seniors from around the country were invited to attend. From that group, he was one of 30 players picked to play in an all-star game at week's end. "He started as a freshman and has come off the field just a few times," Jackson said. "As much as he gets chopped and knocked down, you just can't keep him down." The same may apply to the rest of the Panthers this season. Defender Steve Braun, a three-year starter and one of the team's top marking backs, will share the captain duties along with Hamzagic. Braun leads an experienced group of seniors that includes midfielders Joe Sellmeyer and Lucky Vorachack, and backs Nick DuBuque and Joey Keevin. Scoring should be supplied by junior forward Bryan Enger, as well as sophomore center midfielder Almin Sabotic. Jackson said that a freshman, Pat Jones, is the leading candidate to take over in goal. Also in the mix are juniors Ryan Boyer and Nick Marschalk. Despite losing last year's leading goal scorer Ryan Burke and top goalie Jake Kittrell to graduation, Jackson believes the Panthers can be as good as they were a season ago, and maybe even better. "We've looked pretty good in the early going," Jackson said. "If some of our younger players step up, we should be OK." Hamzagic is hoping that will come to pass in his final semester at Mehlville. "We have a lot of talent this year," he said. "But if we don't work together as a team, we won't get anywhere. We're still underdogs, which is what we should be. I like it when other teams think they can beat us. "When Oakville beat us bad a few years ago, it was like, pack up your stuff and get on the bus. I don't see that happening this year."

I'll definitely be in Chicago on the 26th. Hopefully, we'll have another great showing by our loyal Billiken fans!

Enough with the Mizzou b.s. I had really enjoyed the Mizzou-free summer, but I guess it's come to a close.

Harvard writer disses Billikens.com

I don't really see any disrespect towards us anywhere in that column, but its title, the "King James Bible", is a bit self-important.
