  1. THIS. My big talking point lately is that the pandemic was a forced opportunity for a lot of people to consider what their priorities were. There were probably some people who had season tickets for a number of years and did so as a routine, and some sort of pause in that routine might have caused some people to decide that they like the ability to not plan their schedules in the winter around 1-2 basketball games per week. Not directly related to SLU basketball, but I know people who started spending much more of their time at their vacation homes in another state when they realized that they could do that. Those people are going to fewer games, and maybe dropped their season tickets.
  2. The issue may be with playing summer league ball for their high school coach. I don’t think Courtney Ramey had his dad as his high school coach, so if that’s the issue, he wouldn’t have had that issue.
  3. So I don’t really know how the MLS draft works. I don’t know if some players bypass the draft and join teams in another way, but having the #1 overall pick, 3 top 6 picks, and 4 top 15 picks is pretty impressive.
  4. This is SLU we’re talking about. With a few exceptions, SLU hasn’t always been great with some matters of logistics. The vaccine requirement came directly from the university administration, not the athletic department. I could completely see a scenario in which the university announces the vaccine/negative test requirement, and now the athletic department has to figure out how to work out the logistics and implement this requirement. I’d expect them to have something put together in the coming days which could be emailed to season ticket holders/single game ticket holders, posted on slubillikens.com, maybe Ticketmaster too, etc.
  5. The vaccines have been available to the public for around 9 months now. If you work in an industry that was prioritized on vaccines, even longer than that. Frankly I don’t think that many people are going to get vaccinated now because of the SLU requirement. For those that are, get vaccinated and get tested before games until the 14 day wait period ends. As someone suggested, you can go to Walgreens or an urgent care. Walgreens has been fairly slow with test results lately, at least compared to this summer. I went to Walgreens for a test in June as it was a requirement for a trip to Hawaii, and I had my results in 45 minutes. My fiancée has had to get 2 tests in the last 6 weeks because her job is fairly strict with potential covid cases, and now the results have been taking 2-3 days to come back.
  6. I wasn’t watching live, was following on my phone. Was the guy that punched/slapped Schulte the same guy that acted like an idiot at the end of their last game?
  7. When I covered the soccer teams for the University News 15+ years ago, I’d sit in the press box during games. Many times Bill was there, and I always enjoyed listening to him talk soccer. Knowing more about the sport now, I’d love to watch a game with him.
  8. I went to Silky O’Sullivans once during the CUSA tournament. They decided to close early the night we lost so they could be better prepared to serve the Cincinnati and Louisville fans who would be around the next couple of nights. Therefore, I don’t like Silky O’Sullivans.
  9. It would depend on the actual language in the agreement, but I would generally expect that “indemnification” means to cover any costs arising out of the litigation, which would include legal costs and satisfying any judgments that are rendered from the litigation. With that said, the NFL and owners don’t get to play around with Kroenke’s money. They can’t decide independently of Kroenke to offer something as settlement and then send him the bill.

  11. I’d guess so. MRIs aren’t ordered just to see what’s going on. They’re ordered once a test to potentially diagnose an injury takes place with a certain result. If there’s an MRI being done, that would seemingly mean that the test done for some sort of structural knee injury came back positive.
  12. My expectation is that it’s going to be a pretty substantial building project. I also think that were it not for the Big East tease, we would look at this as a pretty huge deal. I have jokingly said that for every tweet today building this up, I add an extra $5 million to my expectation for the cost of the facility.
  13. Just saying…wore my Homefield sweatshirt to the open practice yesterday. I was the best dressed person at Chaifetz.
  14. If the team is buying into it and it’s not something offensive, I don’t care what they use. We’ve had a variety of phrases used over the years, most of which didn’t really land, so whatever works, I’m good with it.
  15. Well I just went from ecstatic to much less ecstatic in 10 minutes.
  16. I’ve seen enough to declare this…Jordan Nesbitt is good.
  17. First paragraph: when I’ve watched YouTube highlight videos of Nesbit, the immediate comparison I’ve made, particularly with regard to attitude, was Goodwin. I also remember wondering if Goodwin was going to have an attitude issue. Second paragraph: WOW. I had a thought this week that 2 years ago, I was told second/third hand that there was a “game changer” announcement coming for SLU. At the time, I thought it was Big East related. The only noteworthy announcement was that we got in that Orlando tournament that ended up getting canceled due to Covid. Anyway, I wonder if this has been something on the horizon for a while, and Covid just delayed things.
  18. Just got the email saying my Homefield order is out for delivery. Very excited about it!
  19. I heard that when the bar closed a few years ago, it was left in pretty bad shape and that there hasn’t been ongoing maintenance of it. That’s to say that it’s probably in even worse shape now. I’d love to see it reopen, but I’m certainly not looking at it as a sure thing.
  20. I expect that at some time, I’ll get that STLU shirt. Right now, based on the moment, my thoughts on it range from “I have no idea what that is” to “that is one of the coolest shirts I’ve ever seen.
