  1. Trust me, I was listening and he was not being positive towards SLU-he was clearly saying that MO is in a much higher class than SLU. While they do have better "talent" than SLU, I would welcome our nice little team of overachievers getting a shot at the poorly coached Mighty Mizzou-too bad pretty Q ducks us. After the loss to "who in the hell is Belmont" we now know why Q avoids SLU. These two teams are a great example of how superior coaching can take lesser individual talent and beat a group of more skilled players.
  2. Although I'm not usually on the case of Mr. Politically Correct, today he really got to me. On his 3 p.m. show, during a discussion of last nights poor MO performance (a loss to Belmont at MO) he said that there is no need to compare MO and SLU because they are "on different planets." Nice, Mr. Voice of the Billikens. I guess that means Belmont would have killed the Bills at Savvis. I for one would like to get the toothless Tigers "on our planet" so they would agree to play us. If pretty Q is avoiding us due to RPI concerns, then I wonder what last nights game is going to do for State U's RPI. Bob, you don't have to always put the Bills down to keep your gig on pro-Mizzou KFNS. Claiboure and Maracek need you to fill time.
  3. Thicks, thanks for turning this whole Black racism mess at State U into me "being an racist." I presume from your post that you are African-American, but that doesn't mean you have to defend all members of your race no matter what they do or say any more than I would defend actions by a White no matter how wrong they might be. Two Blacks, both apparently well educated, have injected race into this affair in a despicable manner. By the way, I assume you will not be teaching AAED when you teach English. Good grammar is the same whether spoken by White, Blacks or any other race living in English speaking countries. I believe education is the key to the advancement of any person or group attempting to better themselves but that education must be of a high quality-I would assume from you actions that you agree. No need to call me a racist.
  4. Led to believe by who-the well spoken Dr. Floyd? What a joke the tapes show him to be!! The NCAA is just now getting copies of the tapes which should only make a bad situation much worse. Huumm, I wonder why SLU has lost a couple of high-profile local recruits to State U recently???
  5. Anybody read about the Ricky tapes mess at State U in the Post-Disgrace today? No? Neither did I. (The story said nothing) Scooped by the Columbia Tribune!!! Even the online version of the PD is absent most of the key disclosures. O well, at least all the State U BB supporters can now stop complaining of the Post anti-UM bias.
  6. From the poor, street English used in the taped calls, I'd have to conclude that the Floyds both got most of their education via correspondence courses. By the way, aren't we all proud of the education being received by "Amy" at the State U law school-she talks like she is still in the 'hood. What an unbelievable mess the Clemons affair (pun intended) has become, but we all owe the Rick a big Thanks for helping expose what our tax $$$ are doing for us in Columbia!
  7. I agree that his D leaves something to be desired when compared to JF and AD but I'm about at the point of saying lets live with it. He is clearly the only true scorer on the team and is really needed in that role. Watching Josh, AD and CS play defense explains why they often are not as good on the Off. end at the end of games-they are worn out. If we can get 4/5 of our players playing great D for 40 minutes then I'm willing to let RB guard the other team's least Offensive- minded Guard and continue to score thoughout the game.
  8. UMSL is D 2 I believe-If the self proclaimed King (what a jerk) wants to see his boy play 35 minutes then the King better pony up the $$$ to send his boy to a local D 3 school like Fontbonne or Webster. I can't conceive of a local coach wanting the King looking over his shoulder at every decision. By the way, if the King's boy does attend a local school we better warn the women to stay clear of the King in the parking lot after games.
  9. Steve or Thicks can we get this garbage thread off the Board so we don't have to scroll down past it to get to things we are interested in reading?
  10. Roy, just to clarify your side response to me, I did not compare Reggie to MP. I was just pointing out that no one seemed willing to take a shot at the end of the game and I didn't limit that to Reggie.
  11. I agree with many of the post re our shortcomings on the front line, but what concerned me even more was the reluctance of a "MP type" of player at the end of the game. It was painful watching a team behind by 6-9 pts. passing the ball all over the court because no one seemed to want to take a shot-it looked like they were all looking for MP to show up and take the shots. I'm not suggesting they throw up prayers, but they passed up many fairly open shots at in the last 2 minutes of the game. Someone has to step up and want to score w/o all 5 players looking for the other guy to do it. Overall, I don't think we should be too upset over a road loss to a Big East team this early in the season when we field a team with little experience playing together. In spite of another bad shooting half, we hung tough and stayed close. Although I look for us to get better as we play more games together, we all knew that this is not the most talented group of players to represent SLU. As JJ and Reggie get more comfortable in their roles, this hardworking group should continue to get better as the season progresses. Facing our first real competition of the year, and on the road, we did just about what I expected, but I still think we will be solid team by February.
  12. See my post under the thread on JJ-Ithink we are not being fair to a young man who is ill.
  13. I too was impressed with JJ-it seems like he should be getting somemore PT based on what we saw last night. With regard to TF, I can't understand why some of you continue to talk about him being out of shape. He appears to be in good shape to me BUT I am concerned by his multiple physical ailments (bad neck or shoulder, asthma and brochitus,,sp?). I just think calling him out of shape because he is having trouble breathing due to illness is sending our out-of-town Billikenboard members.
  14. As I said elsewhere, you need to add Tim Starks, also of Desmet.
  15. When I see the disparity in skill vs. production and effort from IO, Matt Baniak always comes to mind-sometimes players just never get it-you have to play the game with intensity or just sit down. Come on IO, kick it up a couple of notchs.
  16. If you're implying that I'm having a "freakin hissy fit" over the issue then you have a serious problem. I am simply asking ("askin" to use your apparent preferred terminology) that we show a new recruit the common courtesy of spelling his name correctly, since I assume he, like many of our recruits/players, reads this Board. Sorry Shanz if that is too much to ask of you.
  17. Please everyone, it's not Lidell or Liddel or Lidel. Let's not insult him by spelling his name wrong-it's Liddell.
  18. I'd rather he go on Savard's show since I refuse to watch the racist bs put out on CH 5 (by DJ and Tuna)
  19. I tried to give you all a flavor of the practice w/o anything Brad would view as a betrayal of confidence, hence no use of names-by the way JJ was not the player Brad threatened to cut.
  20. You gotta love Brad. He is INTENSE!! A quote from today, "If you're soft you can't play a competitive game, go play a soft game." He loves the intensity of AD, TF and CS, but was rather upset with most of the rest. Without using names, he jumped on 4 of the guys pretty good during the short time I was there-telling one that he always took the easy way out, questioning the heart and guts of two underclassmen and threatened to cut one of the players if he didn't pick up the effort. He has no tolerence for laziness or lack of effort. Today had to be a rude awakening for many of the players and they would have to be stupid to not get the message that they either play hard or they don't play! They may not be the most skilled team we will see this year, but they will probably outwork most of our opponents.
  21. Stopped out to see practice Wed. (10/29) and was informed that they were practicing elsewhere. The women's volleyball team was on the court-I hope we don't have to share the practice court time with a volleyball team-seems like you main sport (men's basketball) should have top priority for practice. By the way, in another thread someone referred to Tom F. as beefy. Beefy, like beauty, may be in the eye of the beholder but I don't see him as beefy just solidly built-rugged rather than beefy.
  22. Let's assume that this poll is correct. If so, then C-USA is losing teams 1,2,3,6,7 and 8 which leaves them as a low mid-major conference IMO. It will be good getting out!
