  1. The only chance we had of winning this game was to get red-hot from the perimeter and that's what happened. It's about time we caught a break -- our guys are working their tails off!
  2. If Brad plays his cards right, he'll never have to leave the St. Louis metro area to sign a wing. If he's out of town on a recruiting trip, we'll know Brad's looking for a big man :-)
  3. Check it out: http://prepsports3.stltoday.com/basketball...vent176531.shtm

  5. Izik drives down the lane, draws two defenders and kicks it to JJ for the two-handed jam. I can already see it.
  6. Apparently Brad is using the Mr. Miyagi technique on JJ. JJ is ready to learn karate but Brad wants him to "paint da fence" and "wax on, wax off" to test his character.
  7. I'll be glad when the new kids get here. Driving these guys to overachieve is going to give Brad a stroke.
  8. Desmet is one of the classiest posters on these boards. If this story wasn't true, he wouldn't have posted it.
  9. When the football schools get together after the next TV contract expires, we may see Marquette and Depaul in the A-10 anyway. But until then, they'd be remiss if they didn't at least give the "big-time" a try.
  10. Cinci, Louisville, Memphis, UAB and Charlotte have done enough to get in. The only way this league gets a sixth bid is if Depaul keeps on winning. We're too far back to make a move at this late stage.
  11. "He believes the refs either don't like him or doesn't respect him." The refs in this conference don't respect the Billiken program as a whole, not just Reggie. The guys just have to play through it and Brad has to coach through it.
  12. That's the norm. My score only changed one point after taking it multiple times. The reality of the situation is Tommie is probably going to prep school. If he is as close to his family as we think he is, he'll be back.
  13. They didn't count his block at the end either. I think the stat tracker had an off night.
  14. I think I understand the problem now. To take advantage of the lower test scores afforded by partial qualifier status, you need higher than a 2.5 GPA. See the link: http://www.ncaa.org/eligibility/cbsa/academic.html To be a full qualifier, you need a 17 on the ACT no matter what your GPA. But you can score a 15 on the ACT and be a partial qualifier -- if you have a 2.7 GPA. Tommie's chances of raising his ACT score by 2 points are actually better than raising his four year GPA by .2 in only one semester.
  15. What I can't figure out is why he isn't just coming in as a partial qualifier. A 2.5 GPA is all you need to be a partial qualifier.
  16. We're a firm NIT team at this point. To many teams to jump over to even think about an NCAA bid. #1 Duke Stanford St. Joe's Pittsburgh #2 Oklahoma St. Mississippi St. UConn Kentucky #3 Texas Wake Forest Arizona Kansas #4 NC State Providence Florida St. Cinci #5 UNC Georgia Tech Louisville Gonzaga #6 Illinois Wisconsin Southern Illinois Memphis #7 UAB Seton Hall Syracuse South Carolina #8 Boston College Charlotte Dayton Florida #9 Maryland Utah Texas Tech LSU #10 Michigan St. Oklahoma Notre Dame Vanderbilt #11 Utah St. Rutgers Kent St. Depaul #12 UTEP Hawaii Western Michigan BYU
  17. The bad news -- we really sucked on offense tonight. The good news - Marquette sucked even worse. I'll take the W and move on.
  18. Terry is taller but he couldn't guard the chair I'm sitting in. Murkey at two inches shorter is the better rebounder, ball handler and far superior defender.
  19. We have no business playing NC A&T or Grambling ever again. Those programs are totally undermanned.
  20. A couple of Toms? We were fortunate to get the one we have.
  21. I'd prefer Murkey as well. He's a scorer and every bit the defender Jones is. Not sure about Jones' grades, but Murkey is an honor student.
  22. "it would be pointless to sign a roll player type of guard - you won't get much better than that during the summer before school starts." It would be pointless to pass up JB Jones/Cameron Murkey if Tommie is coming to SLU anyway the following year after prep school. We can have our cake and eat it too.
  23. This isn't really that complicated. If Tommie qualifies by the begining of the spring signing period, he's eligible to play next season. If not, we get another guard, Tommie goes to prep school and comes in with the 2005 class. There's no need to play the waiting game into the summer.
  24. "I don't know why all of you keep talking about TL going to a prep school" Because Jalensdad, who actually knows the Liddell family, brought it up as a possibility.
  25. Just another day at the office for the mid-range assassin. Edwardsvile's 6'7 PF Nick Arth is starting to blow up. He scored 21 points and pounded the glass tonight against O'Fallon. He's averaging about 16 points and 11 boards the last five games against pretty good competition. Hope he grows another inch.
