  1. Looks like a 2-2 tie in regulation, Bills coming from behind. Disappointing. Hope we can do the trick in OT.
  2. In 2001 we were 74. Mediocre to me means middle, that would be RPI, say 110-190. We are better than mediocre, IMHO.
  3. This is the way it is supposed to be....rather than lose a player like Morris because our academics are too tough, we pick up a better player because our academics are so good! Go Bills. Thanks for the report. Coach mention Bryce Husak?
  4. I especailly remember, "Take a seat, Pete!" as Gillen would never sit down the entire game. I think we are a better team now than in the days of the MCC and the rivalry would be balanced.
  5. link to above article http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...e+with+athletes
  6. In the online version of the PD, STLtoday, the most recent "Top Story" is an article about Vedad, the soccer frosh phenom, written 9/12/03, eight days ago. The next story looks like an interesting title, NCAA tutors for college athletes. It is dated 9/20/03. Only it is about SPUMAC! Bills soccer wins in double OT to continue winless, and the most recent article on the SLU page is about......them.
  7. lists our match tomorrow as one of the seven top matches to watch this weekend. http://www.collegesoccernews.com/page293.html
  8. Was that the case of meningitis right around Christmas that year? Tragic in that most kids now are getting immunized for that type of meningitis before enterring college, with the Menomune vaccine. I mention this case often in the office when speaking with families.
  9. Actually thicks, I find the soccer reply does have some merit, and use it often. It usually engenders the spirallin gdown of teh conversation to the relative merits of the two sports. I actually enjoy both tremendously, marvel at the athletes intensity, power and skill. You might want to come out to a home game at the Hermann on a crisp fall evening to see a match. It could surprise you.
  10. When is the first meeting? Isn't it second Tuesday of the month? Guess next month, eh? Dribbler? Should have A LOT to talk about.
  11. College soccer news has us #3 this week. I'm giddy. A bunch of us are going to the Indiana game Friday, October 24. Driving back Sat am. Lets get a good sized gathering for that match. Other than UAB may be our last ranked opponent on the schedule.
  12. Post link http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...+to+St.+Louis+U.
  13. This is the most postive news I have heard in a while. Thanks for the sharing of some spontaneous encouraging stuff.
  14. College soccer news, URL below, has the Bill's soccer team #9 in the country after this weekend. Named keeper Hutton the keeper of the week as well holding off UVa keeping us in the game til we won in OT. http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index.html
  15. the game vs ND was a pre season game. Coach had neither of the national U-17 guys available for that game, and didn't have one of the top defenders in til ten minutes to go in the game. ND is a top 20 team, though. This was definitely a quality win on the road, against another top 20 team. We lost to them in the semi finals of the NCAA in OT a few years back. Good to get a W there.
  16. It actually doesn't say anything at all as to whether he received help or not. It only says any help he did receive was only capable of raising his grades to a 1.9.
  17. Steve- It is we who should be thanking you for keeping our passion alive. Best of luck in the future. If you work as hard at your studies as you did with the Board, you will indeed be successful in school and whatever you pursue in life.
  18. went to Chicago last year. The boys bought me seats on the floor for my birthday and I saw Marque make that basket at the end of the game right in front of me. One of my most memorable moments in billiken fandom! Hope to go again next year and see the string continue!
  19. "Steve has a girlfriend!"....(should be sung with taunting tone)
  20. I have booen to q few the past few years. Like to sit in the away seats, and see the church all lit up at night. It is a beautiful stadium, and the competition si good. A bunch of us are going to the Indiana game on Friday night, Oct 24 I believe. One of my buddies is a flaming Hoosier (he's proud or it, go figure) Going to leave at midday, hit Bloomington right before the game, come back the next morning.
  21. got to hear it all. regular readers of this board didn't hear anything new at all regarding conference affiliations etc. DW just parroted the league line. I consider Ron Jacober one of the more inept interviewers on the St Louis sports scene. softball after softball. seems they are waiting til the location is set and the plans are better firmed up before they go after donations....makes sense to be able to tell folks exactly where it will be, and what it will look like before hitting them up for some money.
  22. Few Bills' JUCOs do much their first year. some due to injury..Love, Jeffers, but i think most just have a transition to D1 ball, and also to the new academics at a good school. It is only natural. Bryant is a gifted athlete and is probably being groomed appropriately as the 'go to' guy this summer. Let's not put too much pressure on him so early, though.
  23. Looks good Steve. Missed the old face to the Board. Thanks for the good work...again.
  24. Good pickup, thicks. Had to chuckle myself. Where is a good spell check when you need one?
