  1. I have a friend who has a B & B in Amherst - good lodgings for an overnite trip to see us whip them. Fly into Hartford. I'm sure I'll make a trip next year or so; contact me if interested.
  2. In Italy, they pronounce every vowel, with few exceptions. His name would not be one, and it would be fun. Also take up too much time...
  3. If I do a brick, I'll use my moniker. It would be fun if we all did, and give us something to do...hunting down the others.
  4. I have 2 seats in my block available. Row L about even with the FT line, across from the Billiken bench. $750. If you want to upgrade, and you are way down the list, let me know. The downside is that they will stay in my name. The upside is that when we go to the new arena, my new seats will be as good or better. Leave a note on the thread on how to contact you. I'll be travelling, but will be monitoring the board. Diehard fans only need apply.
  5. How sure are you that this cell phone story is true? My knowledge of cell phone packages is that the greater the # of users and the greater # of minutes in the base package substantially reduce the cost. My wife and I share a package with Verizon - $67, with 400 minutes, free calls to each other, free LD in this country, and free roaming anywhere in the country. Minutes after 8pm, weekends, and holidays are free. We're a group of 2! I bet SLU has a huge package and killer rate. I just don't see how this could be much of a burden when virtually everybody you see under 80 has a cell phone.
  6. I don't think you can compare Liddell's prep experience to the old type collegiate freshman team - most of those guys didn't go on whereas everyone at his prep was going D1. Secondly, he's banging heads with Darius Miles and other local players home for the summer over at West Pine.
  7. The only way to be sure is to play SMS again and see if he lights us up again.
  8. Respectfully disagree. We have backcourt experience; if the new guys can break in, then we shouldn't be giving anything up. The consensus on the board is that Liddell and Lisch will crack the starting lineup. We have experience in the front court; will they produce is the question. In no way can we compare this team to Grawer's 5-23 team. While they had a ton of inexperienced talent, they also had some disruptive influences, not the least of which was giving a great athlete the point where he was clearly out of place. I'm expecting more, right now. If not, then I'll be patient. One more thing - to call Liddell inexperienced to D-1 ball is wrong; he won't miss a beat, IMO.
  9. He prefers to remain incognito. He goes to so many games that he'd have to register as an official fan representative (1st class) of the university. Too much paperwork.
  10. New rule for next year - Mayor Slay is copying the airlines and all lighters must be given up as you enter the building...
  11. We beat Roy the last time he played us at Savvis...
  12. Hotz and Kandelbinder - 2 gunslingers. I saw them in a late game at the Shootout - their range easily exceeded the standard 3 pt line.
  13. He's up in the air, and helpless. Hopefully, the guy gave him a world class fake. Even then, Ian erred.
  14. I met his mom at a fall practice and visited with her...she's English and Ian's father is Greek, and an international banker. He was also a great hoops player in his youth. However, the family stresses education, so I don't think there's danger of Ian leaving early. I'm sure he'll do some pro hoops after he graduates, but with speaking 2 languages fluently, a business degree from SLU, and Greece in the EU, he has a bright future w/o the hoops.
  15. Fish had a redshirt year. How did you like his final season? He was a very seasoned player; protected the ball and took the toughest defense assignment...and was ready to take the tough shot when we needed it.
  16. The basketball IQ has risen immeasurably. Relax and enjoy. Regardless of the growing pains, we know what lies ahead. Brad is safe, IMO.
  17. I'm not sure you've listed all the possibilities. I, for one, would also like to be nominated.
  18. The only Polka I know is the beer barrel...
  19. None of the above know anything; just grasping at straws to start a thread during the dog days...:+
  20. Bummer. I ordered 6 tee shirts from the student who was having "Save Humphries" printed on the front and "Tip-off Club" printed on the back. I was going to offer one of them to Bill McClellan and 4 to first come first serve billiken board posters. Now it seems moot.
  21. I've learned he has an unusual first name...
  22. I think Tommy and Kevin have high basketball IQs and will get it pretty quick.
  23. The point is we all "knew" he was working on some great kids, and the proof is the last 2 commitments. I can't believe that vague references would pump us up any more than the actual results. Brad has delivered the goods so far and we have a bright future - that's enough for me.
  24. There has been a lot of angst during the recent signing period on this board - fueled even more by Brad's comments at the dinner. In retrospect, what else could he have said? He has no power over prospective recruits; all he can control is to do what has worked for him in the past. What else could he say except that he was prepared to go with what he had? In the meantime, he appears to have hit two home runs. We can't see the future, but I think we're all pretty happy with the potential. Think about who he's brought in since he's had a whole season to recruit - any unhappiness over DP, LM, and DB? Look at who he's added since then - anybody think he's on the wrong track? The glass is half full, and we're still adding, IMO.
  25. Good story; they should have waited for a better picture to print...
