  1. ATVs are the lowest form of human transportation. I would rather be seen riding a donkey than ride on one of those things. Of course my uncle (by marriage) owns a MULE, 6 wheeled boxy dunebuggy, which he drives around his suburban neighborhood, that things gives ATVs a run for their money. Sad note, I am sure Columbia is in mourning over the death of the greatest hoosier of all time, thats right the actor who played Jed Clampett from the Beverly Hillbillies died today. In his honor the Missouri President and his family will be riding around campus on their ATVs while shooting of rifles.
  2. The guy was not the president of Mizzou. That guy is called a chancellor. This guy is in charge of all the missouri state universities, he is the chancellors boss. Which makes this incident even more bizarre and disturbing.
  3. I have no doubt that this does hurt schools like SLU. It is not just attending the football games, it is the atmosphere around campus during football season. Even places where basketball is king, like at Mizzou the best parties are always during the football season, unless Eustachy is in town. Going to SLU you miss out on that, lets face it nobody parties cause the soccer team has a big game. There are advantages and disadvantages, not many urban schools have a football team. When you are in college station what else is there to do but sit around and wait for a football game. SLU can offer alot more to a student because of its proximity to a major city and all that brings with it. I don't think you can worry about it, even if SLU had a football team I don't think it could recreate that college town atmosphere that even Mizzou has because of its setting.
  4. I thought Roy was hoping that Bryce would be a heinrich clone? Maybe I didn't see that post. Did anybody catch what the Mizzou star recruit was doing for Lithuania, I would love to see he and Ian square off, or Ian outplay him in this tourney.
  5. Unfortunately we may never know seeing how few listeners there are for KFNS.
  6. Even though teh ACC has only 11, they will petition the NCAA to change the rules regarding championship games to include conferences with less than 12 teams.
  7. It is the board consensus that he is a long term project. He will be redshirted and we will not see much production from him or even playing time until his junior year. That may be a little harsh but he most definetely wil be redshirted. I can't wait to see the Greek kid Ian play. Considering what Brad has said and his the albeit limited amount of info we have on him playing overseas now I am intrigued. He could be a real factor, certainly upgrade at backup over Chris Braun.
  8. He will be back, he does this every once in a while.
  9. SLU on his roundtable show tonight. He and Tuna think it is a good idea for SLU to go to the Missouri Valley. Earl was also on but he was not able to get much in to defend the program. Just as I began to tune in though Bernie was mentioning something about Floyd Irons looking to get a job in the Mo Valley????? I didn't catch all of it though.
  10. This year they changed the rule to accomodate the young ages of Darko Millicic, Maciej lampe and Shortsianitis.
  11. I agree with the majority of your sentiments Steve. There is only one new poster who has come aboard that is causing all of this, yet there are new posters every couple of weeks or so and I have never seen anyone besides Pistol/butter 33 and a few tiger fans get treated "poorly" that is resoundingly disagreed with. People disagre on this board all the time and are not met with hostility. Pistol/Butter 33 was because he has an obvious agenda which is to degrade SLU for not giving a schollie to his son. He came on here after the RFT article came out at the beginning of the season (was never heard from during the season when Blake and DeSmet were doing poorly) and then when Blake comes up huge in DJ's game. We stated our opinions on Blake, some with more tact than others (potted plant ). He upped the ante with his flaming and was met with the same. It is very similar to Tiger fans who come on the board. Tiger basketball is a minor topic on this board and the tiger fans come out of the woodwork to give their two cents, which is fine. It is when they start going off on SLU that they are met with derision. I see no problem with this as it is a SLU board. I for one think the board is doing fine. No one is being driven away. The tiger fans still show up no matter how much crap we give them. I am sure Butter will leave soon and show up on the rare occasions when his son plays well at SMS.
  12. I have been to Little Rock and I loved it there. If I had to move out of STL little rock would be one of my top choices.
  13. Liddell has to be our top priority. I hope we wait on him, I don't see us signing two 3s unless the JJ and the Greek kid really perform this year and we know Izik will stay for his 3 years. Otherwise we need to get an interior player with one of the three schollies.
  14. No way Memphis goes to SEC. One Tennessee would never allow, two the SEC thinks memphis is second rate and three Memphis hates the sec for those two reasons. Memphis is screwed in the realignment scenario because of their terrible football team. They will be on the outside looking in on most of these conference shakeups. South carolina sounds like a possibilty, they were once in the ACC but left to go independent. I don't think Kentucky would go acc, they would not enhance the football league in any way.
  15. I made the statement that this game was small time. I stand by that, there was nobody in this years group that got anybody excited. Besides big Mizzou, SLU and Illinois recruits does this game attract any real top national talent? Not really, and certainly not as much as DJ hypes it as, he claims it is one of the best All star games in the country, well I have watched a few on ESPN and his do not stack up. It may be better than some other area games but it is not big time. I expect at least 2 top 25 guys coming for it to be a big time game. The national guys this year were mediocre at best.
  16. I would not be so down on the mo valley if SLU, Depaul AND Memphis joined, and the Mo Vall cut out two or three of the stragglers. WHile not great that league could be good, not quite up to par with CUSA though.
  17. I think butter would know how much ahearn scored since he is his father.
  18. What is Banowsky running guns or something? Why would he be going to central america especially when the fate of his conference is hanging in the balance. Maybe Costa Rica U has an up and coming football squad. CUSA just becomes worse and worse. The Horizon looks better and better, and it pains me to say that.
  19. I find it strange that a charity sees it nessasary to fly in a coach from Texas and pay for his hotel room, when there are dozens of area coaches who would have done it for free(even some who would have given money to the charity to have the privelege of coaching it). I believe this is a valid issue, I will call Frank up tomorrow on his show and see what he says about it, unless Tiger Tim cuts me off.
  20. I think butter is the same guy who showed up after the RFT article hyping Blake's game. The fact is that our coach had a chance to sign Ahearn and let him go. I respect his bball knowledge over mine. That said I thought Blake was a marginal D-1 player, a diener or troy robertson type guy that SLU doesn't need and cannot recruit anymore to be successful at a top level. Why does SLU always have to take on the area charity cases? I hope Butter that you are on the Mizzou, Illini, SIU-C boards saying the same thing as you are doing here. No other area programs get critisized for not looking at this kid. Why does SLU? Ahearn has shown his true colors, he had stories planted in the post and RFT ripping on SLU. That is not the type of player we need no matter how talented.
  21. Ahearn wanted to come to SLU there is no doubt about that, Romar was recruiting him and was ready to offer and Ahearn would have signed on the spot. When Brad took over he stopped Blake's recruitment and that pissed of Blake mightily. Once again Blake and his handlers planted stories for Bernie, PD, and RFT going off on SLU. Ahearn is a great shooter. He cannot play any defense and Brad will not take that type of player under any circumstance. I have no regrets on not taking him as a bball player or as a person seeing how he waged a campaign against SLU after he was rebuffed by Coach Brad.
  22. Lets face it I didn't exactly see LeBron James playing there. The highest rated player was Gardner nad he was lucky to break the top 50 in most lists.
  23. We have AJ being the voice of reason and hoping for the best from the billikens while Roy is about ready to fire Soderberg for bringing in a 7 foot project. I never thought I would see something like this.
  24. Husak is a PROJECT. We all know that. He will be redshirted. Lets put this in perspective though. Look at KB. I have seen elephants at the circus with more agility and better footwork than KB had coming out of HS. The guy worked hard, had good coaching and was a credible D-1 center by the time his career was over. I expect the same of Husak. We will not need any type of minutes from him for two years. We have plenty of time to mold thei 7 footer into a good player. Now Ahearn and Clarke. Why are we already lamenting the loss of Ahearn? So he puts up 40 in a 100 point all-star game. Big deal. We all know the reasons Brad did not take him. He plays defense as well as a potted plant, and is not much faster than the aforementioned potted plant. Clarke may not be as good of a shooter, but already we see that he has superior ballhandling and passing skills. Ahearn wanted to come here, he was po'ed that we didn't give him a scholarship, so much that he instigated a media backlash against SLU, how quickly we are forgetting the RFT articles and Bernie spewings of a few months ago. My opinion, SLU will be in a state of the art arena, in a high profile catholic conference, making NCAA tourney appearances annually with help from a 2 guard from Minnesota and a shotblocking big man from Iowa, while Blake and the bears will be playing for fourth place in the Mo Valley.
