  1. Both numbers could be correct. The size went up to 10,600 when they put bleachers in student section. I would imagine those seats don't include the luxury boxes in the building. Could you have 900 people in the boxes?
  2. Thicks its probably because we lost most of those games when Tommie was knocking down his 20.
  3. Many years ago{the late Ekker-early Grawer years]the Billikens use to have annual dinners to raise funds for the basketball program.Dickie was the guest speaker for one. Gave the best motivational speach I've ever hear, and I've heard way too many of them. He worked the room and shook hands and made small talk with everybody. In spite of my warm thoughts of that night I wish he'd shut the hell up.
  4. Hey Broy what do you think about the Billikens being 5-0 when Jerry Pollard refs our games? I know you don't agree but I'm always happy when I see him walk on the floor. Last nights game was about as good as it gets in the A-10.
  5. It gets you in the pre-game coaches meeting. It's above the bar located by the main entry at 12th and Clark. Just show them your card. They usually have some free food.
  6. I think Pearl is great. I don't remember the exact circumstance but Pearl caught some heat for turning in somebody cheating while he was in Wisconsin. Hell I think every coach should turn in cheaters. I actually think it takes guts to turn someone in and then catch flack.
  7. Bay Area that was a good summary. One point that stands out is that most of the good players that we've had over the last 25 years have been local There are not many Loves Jeffers and Perry's that have had a meaningfull impact on our program. We have not and will not be sucessfull bringing in the Darren Clarks of this world. Ian was a fluke. If I could give Brad one piece of advise it would be to stay at home. With the exception of JC players, don't waste your time on out of the area freshmen. There will always be good area players who will stay at home for one reason or the other.
  8. I'm afraid some of the non-conference wins were lucky. We could have lost 3 or 4 of those games. Bottom line is that were just not that good. Margin of error is very small. Can we play better defense and win some games. Sure, but lets face it we don't have enough talent{depth}to win our tourney. Can we beat anybody in the A-10? Yes. Can we lose to aytbody in the A-10? Yes. I'm beating a dead horse but our lack of a 4 is killing us.
  9. Ok Fan I'll bite. You are probably right we're just not that good. So who's fault is that?We shouldn't get excited that we have 3 pre season all A-10s.It's not Brad's fault for bad recruiting or poor evaluation it's the fans fault for getting their hopes too high. Get real.
  10. I really don't think it's time to let Brad go. He is a perfect fit for our program if he would only win. In my mind he gets next year no matter what. That said I don't agree with Roy's point that you can't fire a coach unless you upgrade the program. I don't buy into the notion that if Brad fails it's because he doesn't have the support he needs. If he fails it will be because he hasn't convinced good players to go to SLU, or he can't coach the players he has ,not because he doesn't have 2 cell phones. I think we'll know the answers to those questions after next year.
  11. I'm upset. I was looking forward to Spider Riders.
  12. Sorry but I've been busy. CL talked about the TV contract. She's very upset. SLU lawyers are meeting today to see what options we may have. Contract with CSTV was very lucritive. Guarantees it will not be this way next year with or without CSTV. Talked about the band, didn't believe they had been cut back. Will look into it. If there was a cut back she got the message.{I believe she reads this board} Shimmy was her usual exuberient self. Brought 3 players who handled themselver very well. Play X tonight. X has a 6ft 5inch freshmen center. Tonight is public school night. Hope weather doesn't kill them. Brad was next. Brought Tommie. TDELL you should be proud.Tommie was the highlight of the night. Very poised, handled himself extremely well. I can't imagine a 20 year old kid doing a better job fielding questions. Looked like he had a good time doing it. Also looked like he had a lot of respect for Brad. Brad did a stand up job as usual. It's all about making shots Defended inbounds play as poor execution on teams part. Obie will hopefully be back in school on Monday. Recruiting a dozen players for Spring . Hopes to sign 4. Ramsey made fun of the A-10 refs for the next 15 min.
  13. I liked it when they turned the lights down. Reminded me a little of the old Keil. Can't see all the empty seats.
  14. Ian has had a less than stellar senior season but any talk of sitting him is ridiculous. If nothing else every team double teams him in the low post. This opens up the game for everyone else. When JJ or Adam plays the post they are guarded by 1 player and have no inside game. As much as I would like to see Ian dominate games he is by far the best center we've had since Kelvin Henderson. Was he over hyped? Yes.But sitting him down sure isn't going to help anything. We would never get an open outside look if Ian wasn't here.
  15. Not sure if anything can be made of this but CL's body language was not very good in the second half of Saturdays game. At one point she got up from the table to I think cool off. She did not look happy.
  16. I know I'm beating a dead horse with this point but I feel that one of our problems defensively is our pack defense. It allows a guy like Ferretti[sp] to come up with a career night. A couple of times during the game Earl commented on the pack with the Bonnies shooting open 3's. Any time you let an inferior team shoot open shots your giving them a chance to win. I wish we would change our defensive philosophy, but it ain't gonna happen.
  17. PS. David Thompson in one of those double header games at the arena was pretty spectacular.
  18. I know this will not be a popular statement but I think the big O was the greatest player the game has known.
  19. 1. Polk/Danny Brown 2.Oscar Robertson{yes I'm old} 3. NC by 10{reverse psychology} NCAA second round 4.Griffey [biggest name] 5.Missouri win. 6.No. I'll use the Jim Hayes line. I'm happily married.
  20. Come on Nashville get your priorities right. ENJOY.
  21. While Tommie had one of the worst floor games I've ever seen it's way to early to be calling for changes. With the exception of too many palming call his turnovers have been acceptable untill last night. His court vision has been excellent. I have always viewed him as being the offensive leader on the floor. I also think Polk plays better if he doesn't have the ball in his hands. Polk is not going to break anyone down in the half court set. Tommie just had a nightmare game and it wore on him. Thank God he was in the game at the end because no one else on our team would have gotten that last rebound. I'm looking for a great game from Tommie on Friday.
  22. Thats not a bad idea at all.
  23. Bills win by 7. Ahearn scores 9. Tommie goes for 17-Ian 13-Danny 10. Kevin only shoots 4 times and scores 5 but shuts down Blake.
  24. The refs last year were ACC refs. I'm willing to bet they'll be ACC refs again. Hope I'm wrong. If it's a close game and there is a close crucial call you know which way an ACC ref will go.
