  1. Yes. This is another fan who has been baptizied into the right way of looking at things. We are awful. You couldn't have said it any other way, my friend. We have possibly the worst mix of "athletes" since Butterball took over Chico's Bail Bonds. Who are these guys? The weight of the Billiken Basketball World has been placed on the shoulders of two high school players who haven't had an iota of D1 experience. Welcome to SLU. We have an amazing chiropracter.
  2. St. Mary's did not make the list of the 28 colleges and universities under the jurisdiction of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities..for furthur updates, please visit our website @ http://www.ajcunet.edu/ thanks for your untimely error.
  3. What a terrific post, Taj. My man! I'm glad someone is also seeing the light (or lack thereof) that this program is struggling. Look at the amazing success our Jesuit friends up in Chestunt Hill are having this year. We can be just as good, if not better than BC. We should be able to bring kids(preferably good American talent) in to play basketball. It's a fact that Soderberg sweats more than Pete Gillen out there and it's because he's on the burner right now from the fans(who could care less), the administration(who could care less) and the students(who probably could care less). One more year for Soderberg. Then we bring a "name" in from somewhere else. No more of these NAIA/Assistant Coach under a now retired Dick Bennett guys who do such a "great job recruiting." Al Skinner is not a great college basketball coach, but his formula for success isn't shooting Lou Fusz of Boston commercials or watching Al Skinner, Jr. at BC Prep. It's hitting the road and creating a team full of winners and leaders. Go Eagles.
  4. 1) Polk looked awful at the beginning of the game, when Houston jumped on us. Several turnovers and his man was doing anything he wanted to. 2) While Polk usually gets to guard the PG, Drejaj is usually guarding the #1 scorer from the other team when he is in the game, whether it be Brooks from SIU, Novak from Marquette, etc. 3) When Drejaj is actually guarding someone he should be guarding if we had a taller defensive stopper, it seems to me he put more pressure on the ball than Polk does. Some poster are looking for a scapegoat (like they do every year) yet they want to say anything about Polk since he is a) their hope for the future and from St. Louis so they naturally want to cheer for him. That is fine, but I would like to say that it seems to me there is no difference between the two right now, and one or the other is not the reason we are awful this year. It is a group effort, everybody seems to me to be about equally subpar, everybody has a weakness that holds the team back, most of them offensively, although a few is on the defensive end. It would be nice to have a couple complete players like Sloan and Fisher again.
  5. After the blowout tonight and not seeing DC or BH is one to assume that BH is in the same doghouse that DC is in? Has anybody heard anything?
  6. Yeah, real great turnout for Blue Crew. Boy, I tell you what. Join the ranks of thousands!
  7. >Didn't Houston beat Louisville in Houston last month? Yes we did! We also beat Missouri. As previously stated, we did lose to Tulane. It was our only home loss this year. All records aside, I expect a really close game tonight.
  8. I have only seen him a couple times this year, but when he was in, he seemed outmatched. In the SIU game, the D really put the pressure on him and he did not seem quick enough and definitely not strong enough to handle it. He needs a redshirt more than anybody on the team, just to physically mature, get some muscle on him.
  9. I like Mr. Polk. He's a good kid. Almost too nice to be playing for a mediocre team. Poor kid. He could have gone to a much better program. I applaud him for sticking it out at SLU. Way to go, buddy.
  10. As of May I will be in your prestigious ranks. The check's in the mail, pal.
  11. Also, we need to BUILD for a good 05-06 season. We're all expecting Lisch and Liddell to be the L&L Boys and lead us into the promised land of Madison Square Garden and the NIT, but we need that WHOLE TEAM to have a little bit of pride and accountability for their teammates. If someone throws a punch at me on the court, I want to know for DAMN SURE that ALL of my teammates run on the court and pound someone. Relying on your teammates, knowing that someone's got an eye out for you is critical for success. We don't have a guy who can look at four pairs of eyes and say "I'm gonna win this goddamn ball game right here, right now. Believe that we're getting out of here with a win." If I heard that from Reggie, I'd literally ###### myself.
  12. the refs? come on, buddy. we all have FACTORS in life to deal with. Refs are not EXCUSES. We've all had our fair share of ###### deals in life. We're just getting the cesspool dropped on our season. Hey, next year, baby!
  13. I don't read the Sunday Post, but I did while on the john the other day, and it seems that since our recruiting budget is in the tens of dollars, that it would seem logical for Coach Fusz, er, Soderberg to hop in that lovely vehicle of his (or hell, send Sloan, Captain of the Gravy Train), to visit Vashan or E. St. Louis to visit some prospective Billikens. I don't know if any of these guys are being looked at, but since we'll never have a solid D-I recruit come to SLU from either coast or Greece, we need to pick some of the cream right here in town.
  14. It's always nice to see Fr. Wild (MU's president) at the Bradley Center...and in the dorms...and in the dining halls...and at the rec...and at alumni gatherings...and AROUND CAMPUS. We wouldn't know if Biondi pulled atletics even if he tore down West Pine brick-by-brick.
  15. You have missed one HUGE element to the entire Marquette loss - Drejaj. Time after time he was outhustled and outdesired by the spirited Warriors of Marquette. Drejaj has wilted as a player in my mind, and that's totally awesome you see players blooming, but like any botanist would tell you, the whole garden looks bad if one flower decides to wilt. Drejaj's game and attitude has folded more quickly than his numerous blackjack hands at the Casino Queen. Talk to him there and draw your conclusions.
  16. Wow, it only took four months into the season to come up with that post of sheer genius. Truly, your vision is a Godsend. I wonder why is it we don't have a TRUE leader?? Hmmm, that's odd. Is it that my white knight, Voyukas is a mere two years away from filling the leadership void??? Is everyone sad that when they look around in the huddle after a clutch Drejaj turnover that Tom Frericks isn't there to give a "Win One For the Gipper" speech? Hawaii? When the team left for the "Paradise Jam," paradise and leadership were both lost. This team cannot gel together because they lack discipline from the top down. Sources tell me that Soderberg can't get down on his team because they are so frail and they will crumble under any "doggonits" or "gee willikers" from their gentle mentor/coach. Hell, our varsity basketball coach Mike Bonzyck yelled at us even when we did do something good for the team. We, like the Bills, sucked ass, but we didn't have to look around for leadership. We all had it. No one has it on this team. Maybe the student managers have it. Suit them up for a game. Jesus. Leadership? This isn't exactly D-I basketball we're talking about
  17. They are not going to fire Brad, hes been here 3 yrs and this is his first losing season. They havent fired Jill Pizzotti after 10 yrs with only one winning season, they will not fire Brad
  18. Unfortunately, this story is anything but objective reporting. Multiple people at the game sitting close to the Marquette bench have said that Byrd verbally attacked Crean's pregnant wife. While I am not condoning what Crean may have done, one must understand that he did what any husband would do. For anyone to lay the blame on Crean for this situation would just be a hypocrite. On the other hand, this Byrd character seems to be a big tool. I don't know how any man can verbally abuse someone's wife, much more, someone's pregnant wife. This just seems to be one more case of disaster that has become Memphis basketball.
  19. You are right they will be good in a few years, once they get Pizzotti out of there!! Then they will be a good team.
  20. Carbondale's record has something to do with the fact that they play a much tougher conference schedule in teh South 7 having to play Althoff, Centralia, Cahokia, Mt Vernon, and Marion than East Side does. Also, last season Carbondale beat East Side in the post season while having a worse regular season record so I guess you can throw the record theory out the window. 21. 1. It is What it Is!!!! Yes, it is Troo, I only have Too! I know what my shortcomings are, but that's okay, I'm still a man - sort of! My boyfriend is okay with it! 2. Analyze the Show - not the Actors. I was watching old reruns of ***** As Folk last night with Stephan and I got so frustrated at the lack of character introduction. While I just adore the main actors, they are way Too predictable! I should focus less on those dreamboats and more on the storyline itself. 3. Pac-10? Is this a conference? In my circle of friends, it means all together something different! 4. Support AIDS - SLoo is looking for financial support for this worldwide epidemic! Stephan has been cursed by this disease and it's not my fault - it was his former partner Sven! Help my poor Stephan! 5. Coach Dinosaur - will he ever learn! It's Too late for anything coming of this season, but let's hope the future is brighter! I must say Coach Dinosaur does wear really handsome suits! 6. DP - uh, that's personal between Stephan, Sven, and I! 7. Gay Pride March - I will be this year's commissioner at this parade! Come out and support us! 8. Too Much Confusion? I was Too, but then I came out! Such a relief! 9. Oh-zone! - why not give it a try! When I play pick up games with my friends and it's Skins vs. Skins, I always play a tight zone! 10. Make-Up - please! I wear make-up every day. It really brings out my high cheek bones. You can wear Too much though! I'll save that for the Drags!
  22. Man, a disc injury is scary. Torrin Francis, who was fantastic for Notre Dame last year as a sophomore. had a disc injury at the end of last year (he didn't play against SLU in the NIT) has not been the same since his operation. I am worried. Any comments?
  23. I really dont care if we only score 60 a game all i want is an alley oop once in a while to get the crowd going and maybe a big dunk
  24. I think it is incredible that you pointed out two players who both were regular starters as a freshman at the D1 level and you are questioning what they learned in HS. Not to mention Bonner, but he was more of a physical speciman and athletic as a freshman than Polk or McKinney. Every time I see a Vashon game, I notice their great pressure defense, the speed they play at without turning over the ball, their unselfishness, their ability to get great looks. And even when they didn't have a lot of talent (for Vashon standards) they were always tough.
  25. "I will say again that you have some weird bias against this young man that I cannot understand." Of course he does. He has always cut down the bigs....why? Because B-Roy is 5'9" and will always be jealous of what the bigs have that he doesn't have. SIZE!!!!!!!!!!! Get over it Roy.
