VeniceMenace
Facing Wichita State the next two seasons after this one... Boatright said WSU has extended its series against Saint Louis for two more seasons (2015-16 and 2016-17). The Shockers played at Saint Louis last season and the Billikens will play at Intrust Bank Arena on Dec. 6. Next season, WSU will return to Saint Louis with the Billikens coming to Wichita in 2016-17. “The athletic directors got together and talked and thought it would be good to extend that,” Boatright said. “We hope that will continue to be a regional opponent that it makes sense to play.” Read more here: http://www.kansas.com/sports/college/wichita-state/article1255328.html#storylink=cpy
drkelsey55
Wichita State traveled well. They had a lot of fans here for the game. Hope we can do as well there. Close enough for a bus trip??
thetorch
This is great news. Much better alternative to Missouri St.

MusicCityBilliken
Agreed, excellent OOC rival. Good move by both Athletic Depts.
cheeseman
I would much rather play WSU then SMS - better for us in many ways.
hsmith19
Would be nice to extend ISU as well--get the top two teams in the Valley on the schedule every year without actually having to play in the Valley.

Not sure if Indiana St will stay up there. Another decent season and Lansing is gone, frankly surprised he's still there.

ISU predicted 6th in Valley this year. Of course I am biased but WSU and SIU are the best Valley teams for the Billikens to keep on the schedule. thetorch
It is very difficult for one team to maintain dominance at the top of the standings for very long in the MVC. The shockers recruiting has stepped up to a new level though so on paper they should be able to do it. Of course the Salukis did this as well, they had the one vaunted class that just completely melted down and never recovered. We'll never stop playing SIUC no matter how bad they get. I'm in favor of playing just 2 valley teams in regular series.
hsmith19
For what it's worth, I think they were picked third or fourth last year after Creighton left. It will always be one of the more attractive Valley schools for me because of the location and the fact that they still have a little cachet left (at least in the Midwest) from Larry Bird. If I'm not mistaken, the drive from St. Louis is actually a little shorter to Terra Haute than Carbondale. I don't mind playing SIU every year either, but with all of the Crews/Chaney connections to Indiana extending ISU seems to make sense on many levels. Is keeping a third Valley game really worse than yet another buy against this year's North Carolina A&T or USC Upstate? I thought Missouri State was still totally off the radar after what they did to Majerus.

SIU and WSU will travel to SLU better than any other MVC teams.
West Pine Jim
Springfield State sucks. Give me SIUE before we'd play Suckwest Missouri State. JettFlight5, you are only saying that because it's true !
billslasttermdropout
No to Suckwest. No to the Suckamores. No to the Wichita St. Suckypoos. I want me some Bradley and Slukis. Just funnin'. I don't want any stinkin' Valley chumps. Bring on the Blue Demons!

Billiken Rich
I've heard we may start playing Missouri State again in the near future. There's enough hate there to make it interesting. I'd make it a two for one for stiffing us though..... I'd also make sure every series starts here.
thetorch
I've heard we may start playing Missouri State again in the near future. They wanted to start a series this season and we turned them down. I hope it doesn't happen.
GMan Alum
I am thrilled that we have extended the Wichita State series, but as a huge proponent for playing all in-state D-1 schools, I hope SLU does begin playing Mo. State again. Of course, I keep wishing for a renewal of SLU-Mizzou.

They screwed us over before now we go running back to them? They aren't even a good program.

They aren't even a good program. It's somewhat of a crapshoot with MVC teams anyways. They've struggled recently but have a lot of talent and should be one of the better teams in their conference for the next few seasons
JettFlight5
Missouri State would be a huge mistake, but it would be very hypocritical to not play them and complain Mizzou (another program that is weaker than SLU) isn't playing us.
