  1. Here is a draft scouting report written today. First pick second round. [BTW, which pro team do you scout for?] Sure he might return to Dayton; they have an impressive NIL program that made last season comfortable for Holmes. Second round doesn't carry the guarantee or money that a first round does. Whatever he decides, he will be making nice money next year. 31. DaRon Holmes Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports (Dayton: Forward, Junior, 6-10) Previous rank: 50 (+19) / Best rank: 22 / Worst rank: NR DaRon Holmes had the third-highest jump of any prospect in our latest HoopsHype aggregate mock draft. Several NBA executives are high on Holmes and believe he could be off the board as a late first-round pick. It should come as no surprise after Holmes dominated at Dayton after returning for his junior season by winning the A-10 Co-Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards. With the NBA featuring heavy pick-and-roll actions against big men, Holmes can hold his own defensively with his length and foot speed to hold his own on the perimeter and block shots around the rim. During his junior season at Dayton, Holmes became a floor spacer and potential pick-and-pop threat at the NBA level by shooting 38.6 percent on 2.5 three-point attempts.
  2. Graph showing gains and losses through the portal, to date.
  3. Interesting comment from Schertz at the Billiken Golf Classic. He said that if the Dec transfer rule had not come into play, meaning that 2x transfers would not have to sit, he might not have left Indiana State as Kent, Swope and Conwell had all transferred in. They would have had to sit a year if they transferred under the old rule. Avila would have stayed, so the Sycamores could have 'run it back'.
  4. 17 against Northwestern, 21 against St. John's, 16 against Houston, 28 against Cincy. I'd say he did just find against top competition. 32 of 83 three point attempts (38%) is more than "draft me, draft me" shooting. I would rely on the NBA scouts evaluation of a player more than our "Obi is a One Trick Pony" evaluator. (That One Trick Pony player has a $9million player option on the table for next season.)
  5. As of yesterday there were 38 open scholarships in the A10. Only Loyola and GW are full. So a lot is still to be determined. But I agree with @wgstl that Loyola has a good portal class. Reynolds is coming back so St. Joe will be good. GW has their young core returning as well as a few nice portal picks. Duquesne has a highly rated portal class also. St. Bonnie has 5 and VCU has 6 open scholarships, so they could make significant additions. VCU had a commit de-commit today. More money from S. Carolina. With significant additions for just about every A10 team, chemistry will be critical.
  6. I agree he likely is gone. I have seen one mock draft where he is the last pick in round 1, and most mocks have him a second rounder. He has declared for the draft, but he hasn't entered the portal. So he either goes pro or he goes back to Dayton. He has not made any public announcement of his intentions, per David Jablonski the Daily Dayton News Flyer beat writer. But he was fairly quite last season also when he filed for the draft. The one way he could return to Dayton is a not so stellar NBA Combine performance coupled with a substantial NIL package. This year's Draft has been labeled as somewhat weak, so that could enter into the equation. Players have until mid-June to withdraw from the Draft.
  7. Old Guy was/is a full fledged rider on the Radio Flyer get rid of May bandwagon. This is a repeat of a statement he has posted three or four times already.
  8. So you are speculating what an unknown person will do sometime in the future.
  9. An excellent article by our beat writer on Coach Schertz's Jewish faith. https://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/slus-josh-schertz-offers-perspective-on-his-jewish-faith-and-gaza-protests/article_85eb2b10-08a5-11ef-be81-ebd837799143.html
  10. Scoops with Danny Mac has been out there for quite some time, at least for two years.
  11. If Fletcher didn't fit into Schertz plans, he wouldn't have him in for a visit.
  12. Mongo Mike has SLU as a finalist. He knows the gym already so maybe he has only talked via Zoom and hasn’t visited.
  13. I’m going with 2 of 5 were rumors. No reason Schertz would throw out wrong numbers when it really doesn’t matter.
