SLUBALLS
Just wondering who's planning on attending the college cup this Friday and Sunday? Too bad the weather will be getting a bit nippy.

gister
I'll be there with a group of family and others. My wife and daughter backed out once they heard the weather forecast. The game times are awkward for trying to fit a dinner in.
SLUBALLS
Just a bit of history here but back in 2003, Columbus, OH, hosted the college cup and the weather was much like we are expecting this weekend: http://www.wunderground.com/history/airpor...eq_statename=NA Attendance for the championship game was 5300. Total tourney attendance was 61,000. Problem is this is the forecast for Thursday: Blustery. Much colder. Occasional rain early in the morning. Occasional freezing rain through the day. Occasional snow and sleet in the afternoon. Snow and sleet accumulation around 1 inch. Ice accumulation around one quarter of an inch. High in the lower 30s. North wind 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. Chance of precipitation 90 percent. Damn unlucky to be catching this winter blast a day before the Cup. I mean we're dropping 30deg in a matter of hours basically.
brianstl
Do they have a tarp for instances like this?
SLUBALLS
Not sure. Hope they do or at least have 20 college kids signed up to shovel snow Friday morning. I think offering a case of beer per student would be a good payment.
SLUBALLS
Talked to a rather reliable source and person involved with the goings-on with the Cup and he said the field is currently covered. I'll be at the welcome banquet tonight so I may have some more info regarding what the plans are for the games tomorrow.
bluecrewprez
I am supposed to be volunteering at the College Cup this weekend and I haven't heard that Friday's games have been cancelled from the AD or anything, but I talked to my cousin who one of the head managers at the Renaissance Hotel downtown--where most of the teams are staying--and she read me something that told her tomorrow's games have been cancelled...and that some teams aren't coming in until tomorrow either. I am not trying to tell anybody not to show up tomorrow or anything, but has anybody hear anything like that?
Also Receiving Votes
I'm actually good friends with a girl who works at the STL Sports Commission, so if she hears anything, she will let me know, and I will let all of you (except Roy) know...just kidding, Roy. You're my boy, Blue.
Quickdraw
Such a deal! St. Louis gets to host a "Frozen Four" this year and next year, in two different sports. I'm sure it's never been done before.
gister
Latest word I heard from people at the banquet is that the games are on for tomorrow. I don't know if the amount of snow we get could affect that decision. But, apparently, they wanted to make a decision tonight.
SLUBALLS
That's the same thing I heard tonight at the banquet tonight. It took me an hour and fifteen minutes to get from Clayton to the MAC. Longest part was once I got past AG Edwards and around Wash St.
TRN
CK, how was the banquet? FYI - not that it's recent news, but they said on KFNS or somewhere else that the tarp has been on the field for a few days now. Whether or not they can get it off anytime soon is the question. It sounds like the storm system will be out by afternoon tomorrow, maybe you'll get your European Football in this weekend.
SLUBALLS
Just talked to Billiken office and was told games have been postponed till tomorrow. 11am and 2pm. Don't take this as official because I don't represent SLU but this is what I was just told. Hopefully it will be up on the slubillikens site.
