The Wiz
Well, the good news is we beat the spread. On a more serious note , it looks like the team is starting to come together. On the surface , it is hard to be to definitive about a meaningless game. Still, there are some takeaways and key factors. One of the problems in analyzing exhibition games is more players are playing than in a real game and the numbers are skewed. However, you can still see important trends if you focus on the top 4 players in minutes. Let's look at some of the stats. Let's start with the slash line.....59/81/34.5/ 75....grades out to A+/ A+/ C+/ B+ compared with the Rockhurst game...50/ 65/33/88 A+ / A+/ C- /A+....The slashes are somewhat similar but a key difference is the 2pt shooting...we went from an excellent 2P game against Rkhst to an outstanding game against Mville. That 81% 2P game led to the blowout. And while this was an exhibition game let us not forget that Ind St last year led the nation in 2P shooting....It is what Schertz teams do. Three point shooting improved a little on the surface...34.5 to 33 a little below what we would like to see BUT again let's look a little deeper...The top 4 players in minutes shot a mighty 58% in this game vs 36% in the Rkhrst game. Again this is not an accident...Ind St last year was 11th ITN...again this is what Schertz teams do. There is no reason why The Bills can't be in the Top 10 in both 2P and 3P shooting this year. If we are, it will be a successful season. The other stat I was watching for in this game was TOs. In the Rkhst game we had an unacceptable TO rate of 16. This game a very nice rate of 9. Looking deeper into the numbers...the top 4 players in the Rkhrst game had 11 TOs...not good...in the Mville game they had a terrific 1 TO. Bottom line...Shooting numbers and TOs are trending in the right direction particularly among the top players in minutes. This is what you want to see. Is there room for improvement ? Are there still some rough edges? Yes...which means there may be some bumps in the early going. But as the team gels, The Bills will be a force to be reckoned with this season. It may be time to get a reserved parking spot at Shake Shack. OkieBilliken, BrettJollyComedyHour, Lord Elrond and 1 other
White Pelican
Hello, first time caller, long time listener. I've enjoyed watching the team so far in these first two games and I'm happy to see that you think they "will be a force to be reckoned with" this season. In that same vein, one of the Old guys on a local popular fan forum is hopeful of 30 point wins every night. Do you see this as a likely (or at least possible) scenario going forward? I mean, I am really stoked to think about this! Thanks! I'll hang up and listen. Aquinas

No we won't win every game by 30 pts....Trying to beat the spread every night would be a more realistic goal. Today , I start gathering data and cranking out algorithms for the preseason review. When completed , I will have an in depth report of how the season looks going forward. Suffice to say at this point , we could be looking at the Majerus heights again. Call back next week for an update and thanks for listening. RiseOfTheBillikens, joe_davola, billikenbill and 1 other 3
