This is a little harsh. Perhaps one person has said this, most just think we can do better.  I love Ford as a person way too much to even think like that.

I don’t judge coaches based on how good of a person they are in everyday life but Ford is not the most pleasant person to engage with outside Chaifetz. He is a very good salesman.

The Billiken clap and the Saint Louis chant are corny. I know it’s mostly for the kids but the high five cam is bad too imo.

And I know my opinion might be skewed as someone who has been to nearly every home game this year but I would like some variation to the game experience. It’s always the same chants, the same crowd games, and the same songs at the exact same times.

Well said. Same script every game and most the script is corny. Par for the course with this AD.

BOOOOOOOO  you arent paying attention.   you obviously dont realize the talent that this band has.

myself, i detest the amount and selections of the piped in music.   if i didnt love the billikens as much as i do and was just a casual fan, i wouldnt come just because of the amount of piped in music.   at least turn the f'ing bass down.

We agree on the bass. I’m generally fine with the piped in music but it was crazy loud last night.

Good way to get me angry, which isn't easy. Tell that to Duke, UNC, KU, Baylor, etc. A band is part of the gameday experience and the fans (see the donors) love the band.

Me (a donor) and many other fans (donors) find the band to be a joke at best. Those teams you referenced have good game day experiences because they win, not because of the band.

West Virginia ranks dead last (50th) in infrastructure. More likely to die on a crappy WV road on the way to skiing, hiking, climbing, etc in WV than I am getting shot in STL. Other WV rankings: 47th in healthcare, 45th in education, 48th in economy, and a life expectancy of 72 years old.  No thank you.

People die in “Small town America” at higher rates than urban America. But dying of obesity, heart disease, higher rates or cancer, rampant drug use,  etc isn’t as sexy as “crime-ridden” cities.

I agree. College towns are fun to visit…for a day. Check out the one “famous” dining spot in town that ESPN highlights during game nights that, in reality, is overrated garbage. But As a visiting fan, give me multiple days of culture, arts, and the culinary delights of major cities. Which, depending on the city, also have hiking, skiing, climbing, etc within a short drive. But this too is also just one man’s opinion.

I have no idea where Coach Forte is recruiting.  He has spent time previously in Oklahoma, St. Louis (as a graduate assistant), and of course Texas where he played HS ball and grew up.  He's only been back at SLU for 7 or 8 months.  I'd give him some leeway.  Doubt he could have impacted the Fall recruiting class but perhaps he will impact the Spring Transfer Portal recruiting assuming Coach Ford stays ...... which is my assumption.

    Forte is recruiting Texas

Boy what a bunch of MBM. How many of you have ever coached a team to the dance. Dare I say none of you. You just want to come on here and moan and groan.

Let the man do his job and if he needs to go his boss or bosses will make that decision.

You all need to quit your crying.

Ps: I don't have a clue either but I am not going to tear the man down because I can't do what he does even if I tried.

This is, by far, the worst point someone can make in this type of argument. I've never been President either. Or thrown a pass in the NFL. Or waited tables at Applebee's. I guess 99.9% of the population needs to shut up about basically everything.

I guess we don't need a USMNT coach.  Just let the players pick the team (rock, paper, scissors) and then let the Soccer Mom's set the match lineup.

You should listen to the interview. With full context, it does not seem like Pepi immediately hung up in the manner it seems from that individual quote snippet. It is really poor journalism.

Any thoughts on who you would want as the next USMNT coach?

Many of you following the European leagues much closer than I do. Any thoughts on Jesse Marsch

Pellegrino Matarazzo is an under the radar option who could be really good for the role

Outside the box coaching suggestion…Quin Snyder.

    Pluses:

He’s sleazy enough to excel in the NIL and portal and a great offensive mind.

    Negatives:

If you have daughters as undergrads you will be a little nervous.

    BillikenRoys head might explode

In all honesty I’d kick the tires.

It is more realistic to try bringing Majerus back from the afterlife.

That is a ridiculous comparison. Travis Ford is more like comparing Dwayne Evans to Larry Hughes. Both good, or great. The difference is that LH was off the charts.

I am going to simple call it. We will beat Boise State.

Dwayne Evans won more NCAA tournament games in four years than Travis Ford has in 23 season as a head coach. Try again.

The real ridiculousness is comparing Ford to Majerus in any capacity.

I looked this up. The answer is [drum roll] New Mexico!!!! Amazing. One team. That’s it. Just as a memory for everyone, Duke beat us by 40.

We beat a ranked Xavier. Congrats. We got like 10 bites at that apple during the Majerus-Crews years. It is a little different in conference and not fair to compare.

Bringing up the Duke loss is really something. We trotted out a bunch of Freshmen because of Situation 1. Comparing Ford to Majerus in any capacity is like comparing Brett Jolly to Larry Hughes.

We thought we'd have Perk with a nice compliment of Pickett this year and obviously Perk is not up to speed.  Pickett has been a beast and him getting his second foul early hurt.  We could have used him to try stop the bleeding.  Okoro needs to try and dunk everything.  It either goes in or he gets fouled and he can shoot free throws.  I don't get his regression.  Yuri and Gibby are playing their ass off but when our 5'11' point guard has to try and win the game every game, we are in trouble.  FTJ is having his best year in my opinion.  This team needs to find the toughness that JGood, French and even Linssen had.  That being said, there are a couple games in front of us to right the ship.  I think people are underestimating Boise because we beat them on the road last year.  It was in OT and we kinda got lucky.  They are 7-2 with multiple quality wins.  Lock in and run this noncon at home and hopefully Perk is back getting buckets by league play.  Go Bills.

Ford's habit of benching players with 2 fouls has cost us games in the past and it will cost us games in the future. It doesn't do any good to bench one of your key players for long periods of the first half (saving them for later in the game) when it contributes to the game getting out of hand. Ford at least brought Pickett back in the 1st half last night.

And they beat me to it but Tyler Adams as good as he’s been just can’t jog behind Memphis all the way down the field. This is where our youth hurts as no chance to give Adams rest at all in the 3 games.

This is where not getting much depth from that 26-34 year old group really hurts. The 29-25 yo group has provided loads of talent but we need the next 4 years to provide depth and even relegate a few players that start now to being depth. At that point we will be able to compete in WC’s where you play so many games so close together with the worlds best.

I love Pulisic but we need his caliber to be our 3rd, 4th best player. Not our best.

100% with all of this but I will say Pulisic isn’t our best player. Our best player was on the bench most of the tourney. Shame on Gregg for that.

FIFA rankings are in parentheses below.   Obviously these rankings are flawed, but it seems clear to me Spain's path is easier.  Up for debate if they purposefully engineered it or not.  Avoiding Brazil in the quarters is a pretty big boost to their ability to make a deeper run.

Japan's(24) most likely path is now Croatia(12), Brazil(1), Argentina(3), then France(4) or England(5) in the final.

    Spain(7) has Morocco(22), Portugal(9), England(4) or France(5), and then Brazil(1) or Argentina(3) in the final.

Germany(11, but under ranked IMO) being eliminated is pretty big as well because they were a title contender that Spain now doesn't have to worry about.

I get the rankings but frankly don’t find them super relevant now. Considering current form, I would easily take Japan’s path.
